LASALLE – Summer is in full swing and as hot as the temperature has been, nothing will be hotter than DREAMWAVE Wrestling returning to LaSalle at the Knights of Columbus with “Adversity”! DREAMWAVE has had a fantastic summer so far in the Illinois Valley drawing over 2,000 fans to their events which began with the Celebrate LaSalle Festival on June 4th. That trend will continue with “Adversity” which takes place on August 7th and features Chicago Bears legend and former 1985 Super Bowl champion, Steve “Mongo” McMichael! Doors open at 6:30PM and the bell time is 7:00PM. Tickets are available at www.dreamwavewrestling.com and at Ankiewicz’s Deli in Peru and the 9th Street Pub in LaSalle.
“By far, this has been the most fun I have had in the wrestling business” said DREAMWAVE owner Jay Repsel. “As much fun as we have had, I can’t begin to describe the excitement surrounding Mongo. LaSalle has always been a Chicago Bears town and to have the opportunity to bring a Bears legend, a Super Bowl champion and a College Football Hall of Famer to town gives me chills. A lot of people may not know that Mongo competed in professional wrestling for many years at the height of its popularity. I don’t think I have looked forward to any of our guests more than this one.”
The card for “Adversity” is highlighted by a battle between Ring of Honor (ROH) World Champion Tyler Black and DREAMWAVE World Champion “Next” Nick Brubaker of the A-List in a champion vs. champion match. The other main event features the team of “Silent Intensity” Austin Roberts and “The B-O-Z” Steve Boz, known as Super Intense, squaring off against Mason and Waylon Beck. Steve “Mongo” McMichael will be on hand as the special guest of the evening, signing autographs and taking pictures with fans during the VIP meet and greet and at intermission of the event.
DREAMWAVE has proven to not be your standard wrestling company. Along with bringing in well-known wrestling superstars from the past, they are also exploring stars from other walks of life. “We brought in UFC legend Dan “The Beast” Severn in May and he was extremely popular with our fan base. Having an opportunity to bring in an NFL legend like Mongo was a no-brainer. He was a member of the legendary Four Horseman with WWE Hall of Famer “Nature Boy” Ric Flair and he is a former WCW US champion to go along with his Super Bowl championship. He is a one of a kind star and we are excited to have him.” Repsel said.
