Dwayne Johnson Joined G.I. Joe To Improve Franchise
Dwayne Johnson signed up for 'G.I. Joe: Retaliation' because he thought there was ''room for improvement'' in the franchise after watching 2009's 'G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra'.
Dwayne Johnson signed up for 'G.I. Joe: Retaliation' to improve the film series.
The 39-year-old star - who also wrestles in the WWE as The Rock - has joined the franchise as Roadblock, and he thought there was ''room for improvement'' in the movie series after watching 2009's 'G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra'.
He said: ''I was even more than 'Yeah I'm in.' But also too, you wanna be a little bit poised with your excitement at first. When I first heard it, the idea of starring in 'G.I. Joe', first of all you get a second crack at something that is - the franchise is that big, the title is that big, the first one did well [but there was] room for improvement.
''We get a second crack at bat with this; I wanted to grab this by the throat and not let go. The moment I locked in, we all agreed, I'm in.''
Dwayne trained his ''ass off'' to get in shape for the action movie - which sees the G.I. Joe special mission unit go up against a spy who assassinates most of their members - because he was determined to ''pay honour and respect'' to the US military.
He added to Collider.com: ''I trained my ass off for this role, wanted to become Roadblock, wanted to pay homage to the mythology of G.I. Joe, and not only that but then pay honour and respect to our military in a real way where it's gritty and rooted and grounded and boots to the ground, and we're not shooting off lasers and s**t; these are real rounds.
''We wanted to pay homage to and elevate the fantastical side of G.I. Joe with Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow and the incredible ninjas that we have. It was a great blend of worlds, collision of worlds, and when they came to me with the idea of starring in it was like, there's the throat, there's the grab, I'm in.''

Low Ki's Challenge Accepted For Charlotte & Concord
The controversy surrounding Low Ki has been increasing. He started at EVOLVE 10 by saying he was going to "take his profession back" and it blew up at EVOLVE 11 when he had some pointed words towards El Generico after their match.
It continued this past week when Ki sent out a challenge on Twitter @OneWorldWarrior throwing out a challenge for one of the boys to "step up" and wrestle him in North Carolina. Jigsaw, coming off a big win at EVOLVE 10, tweeted @JigsawCHIKARA that he has "been known to "step up" when the time calls for it."
We can confirm now that it will be Low Ki vs. the popular Jigsaw on May 11th in Charlotte, NC. Go to www.DGUSA.tv for building and ticket info. You can pre-order the live iPPV of this event now at www.WWNLive.com with three different pricing options.
In a surprise, Jon Davis called the EVOLVE office this week and demanded a match vs. Ki. It has been officially signed. It will be Low Ki vs. Jon Davis on May 12th in Concord, NC. Ticket and building info is at www.DGUSA.tv. This event will also be on live iPPV at www.WWNLive.com and you can pre-order it now with three different pricing options.
This makes the EVOLVE doubleshot in North Carolina the toughest weekend of Jon Davis' life. It will be Davis vs. Fit Finlay in Charlotte and Davis vs. Ki in Concord. It really doesn't get any bigger than that.
"It's do or die time," Davis said. "I beat all three members of D.U.F. and won that feud. I went toe-to-tie with Akira Tozawa. Now is the time for me to reach the next level of my career. Having good matches isn't enough anymore. Showing potential doesn't mean anything. I have to defeat the greatest and I will in North Carolina."
