“Never capitulate.” Bob Backlund has reason to smile – and a new book. Capitulate, as Merriam-Webster defines the word, means “to stop fighting an enemy or opponent; to admit that an enemy or opponent has won; to stop trying to fight or resist something; to agree to do or accept something that you have been resisting or opposing.” Bob Backlund, the man that is The All-American Boy” includes “Never capitulate” in every e-mail sent. He is a rare person who thinks for himself and holds to his principles. Yes, he has stepped into the arena of life and won. Big. Global. The World Wrestling Federation (WWF), which later morphed to WWWF, then WWE, world champion, three times over. Battled in Madison Square Garden, cheered by a frenzied following with every seat filled, watched by fans around the globe.
 
Backlund holds the record for the second longest reign as WWE Champion in history. His physique is real, earned by discipline, setting goals and hard work. He lives clean, conscious that he serves as a role model. Wanted to share his story and life’s trials errors and successes with others, especially young people – but no one was interested at the time. He moved on because that’s what you do. Then the day came when a FedEx package arrived. Inside, something astounding; a young fan who had grown up to be an attorney and an author with this idea – to tell Bob Backlund’s story, to write a book. No kidding.
