Hi everybody

Here is a quick report from this week-end's 7th edition of the Montreal Comiccon, held at Palais des congrès.

This year I had the privilege of being Road Warrior Animal's liaison. I had a great time spending the whole day with him on Friday. He remembered seeing me at the Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame week end in Amsterdam,NY a few years back and was very laid back and easy going. I signed my copy of his biography along with my autograph book. We got to remember the 'good old days' of the Montreal office, like in 1984 when he and Hawk turned King Tonga babyface at the old Forum, or when I went to see my first live card at my local arena, they were the main event, but I wouldn't dare approach them after the show. Animal told me when they were heels in those days, they would make sure to scare fans away. (Believe me, it worked) We also got to talk about non wrestling subjects and the other businesses he's involved in.

Animal brought a pair of ring-worn shoulder pads, and I was the one responsible to put them on everyone who wanted a picture. What a rush it was ! As you will see in the pictures, he let my son have a photo taken with them as well.

Animal spent time chatting with all kind of wrestling fans throughout the day, even those who wouldn't buy anything. I was amazed that so many people wanted to shake his hand and told him how much of an impression the Road Warriors made on them. He also took good care of the young children and handicapped people who came to meet him.

What impressed me too, was seeing all those 7 to 10 years old kids coming to him screaming ''OHHH what a rush!'' as they where way too young to know him.  ''It's the beauty of the Network'' Animal told me.

Of course I also got to spend some time with the other wrestling guests, who were Ron Simmons and 2 Cold Scorpio this year. Both were extremely nice as well, and seemed very happy and grateful to be there. Simmons never minded that we had to retake his picture quite a few time because of a camera malfunction. He had brought with him a replica of his WCW world title belt, and many 8x10's promos: one as Doom with Teddy Long, one from his football days, one from the Nation of Domination with the Rock, and two in his Damn! gimmick.

Scorpio had a little less people going for him, but he was just as nice. I told him I just showed my son the famous Clash of Champions match where he made his debut teaming with Ron the night before, and how I never forgot that match since it was the first time I had ever see someone doing a 450 splash. He said he was the one who invented the move. Scorpio told me he will be in Ottawa along with Ultimo Dragon on august 15 for a charity wrestling show.

All in all, another unforgettable experience where pro wrestlers once again showed their good side. I want to publicly thank my old friend Bertrand for such another great opportunity.

thanks for reading and see you at the matches!
Frank
