WWE Studios, Hogan, UPWA, Scott Norton, Sean Oliver, more…

SANTA MONICA, CA, and STAMFORD, Conn. - May 22, 2014 – Lionsgate (NYSE: LGF), the premier next generation global content leader, and WWE Studios (NYSE: WWE) are extending their longstanding partnership to encompass six new action films which will serve as starring vehicles for WWE Superstars as well as incubators for new and emerging talent, the two companies announced today.

The popular directing team of Jen and Sylvia Soska (SEE NO EVIL 2, AMERICAN MARY) will return to the WWE Studios and Lionsgate fold to direct VENDETTA, the first installment of the “Action Six-Pack” series, which will commence photography this summer and feature WWE Superstar Big Show®. The second installment of the "Six-Pack" series, which is currently in development, will commence photography this fall. WWE Studios will leverage its extensive multi-platform reach to promote each film.

Written by Justin Shady, VENDETTA centers on a hard-nosed detective who deliberately commits a crime to get thrown in prison, allowing him the chance to seek vengeance upon the criminal serving a life sentence for having brutally murdered the detective's wife.

“This collection of six high octane films will not only excite our fans, but provide a stage for emerging and talented filmmakers like the Soska Sisters,” said Michael Luisi, WWE Studios President. He added, “We couldn’t have a better partner in this enterprise than Steve Beeks and the team at Lionsgate, who have been great teammates and are proven distributors of this genre.”

“We’re thrilled to join forces with Michael and his WWE team on a series of modestly-budgeted action films that extend our longstanding and successful partnership,” said Lionsgate Co-Chief Operating Officer and Motion Picture Group President Steve Beeks. “We have a strong track record in this genre, and we’re delighted to team with the WWE juggernaut to deliver action-packed event films that will resonate with their global fan base and beyond.”

WWE Studios and Lionsgate previously collaborated on THE CONDEMNED and SEE NO EVIL, as well as the upcoming 2014 releases LEPRECHAUN: ORIGINS and SEE NO EVIL 2. Bradley Buchanan, SVP of Business Affairs, negotiated the deal on behalf of WWE Studios and Wendy Jaffe negotiated the deal on behalf of Lionsgate.

Hulk Hogan admits people are always surprised to see him walking his two pet Chihuahuas, Pebbles and Pumpkin Spice, when he's in his hometown as they expect him to have manly pets because he's a wrestler.

Hulk Hogan says people ''freak out'' when they see him walking his pet Chihuahuas, Pebbles and Pumpkin Spice.
The 60-year-old WWE Superstar has revealed his neighbours in North Clearwater Beach, Florida, are always surprised when they catch him out with the tiny pooches as they expect him to have more manly dogs because he's a muscle-bound wrestling legend.

During an appearance on British TV show 'Loose Women', he said: ''My wife Jennifer is an amazing cook and she's into all the organic stuff and the juicing and the healthy stuff but I'm the guy who walks the Chihuahuas. Everybody expects me to walk these big dogs around but I always walk the girl dogs, Pebbles and Pumpkin Spice. Everybody freaks out when they see me with these little dogs.''

Hogan's five-decade spanning career in the ring and on the big screen has made him one of the most recognisable people in the world but he insists when he's at home with Jennifer he's just Terry Bollea.

He said: ''Wherever I go - my real name is Terry - and so when I go outside people don't go 'Hey! Terry, how you doing?' They go, 'Hey Hulk! What's up brother?' I have to be Hulk Hogan the moment I walk out the door but when I come home I take the bandanna off the bald head and I don't wear red and yellow, and I put my board shorts on because I'm a beach bum. At home I get to be Terry.''

Hogan is currently in the UK as part of the 'WWE Live WrestleMania Revenge' tour and will act as the host of 'SmackDown' when the TV show is taped at The O2 arena in London on Tuesday night.

Recap of Scott Norton on In Your Head Wrestling Radio, 04/30/2014
by Vic Schiavone

Hosts Jack E. Jones and One Inch Biceps welcomed former WCW wrestler Scott Norton to IYH Wrestling Radio for a return appearance.

Highlights included the following:

* What was it like being a part of the nWo?

“Being part of that was amazing. The biggest heel team of all time, probably the most popular group of guys ever in pro wrestling, we took that thing to the limits. Nitro was just exploding, wrestling was exploding, it was absolutely the biggest thing in pro wrestling ever. So being a part of it, I was very grateful to be in the right time, right place. We had a great group of guys being around it, being involved in it; absolutely the best part of the business for me here in the states.”

* What is his opinion of the New England Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame inducting not only guys who were big-name stars but guys that were enhancement talent?

“I’m going to tell you something. When you determine guys as enhancement talent, these guys are just as talented or even more talented than the top guys. Some of the enhancement talent guys are so good that they elevate top dudes. Without them, you’re sunk. I don’t look at guys like that…a lot of guys call them jobbers. That’s BS. There are some guys out there that are just unbelievable…I think that’s great, and I think it’s well-deserved.”

Other topics discussed included:
* Who gave him the hardest matches he ever had in his career?
* If MMA had been big earlier in your wrestling career, is that something you would have wanted to pursue?
* Whose idea was it for him to be part of the nWo?
* What was the story behind the incident where Hulk Hogan whipped David Flair during an nWo attack?

Scott will be appearing at the New England Pro Wrestling FanFest 2014 on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Warwick, Rhode Island. For additional information, go to

Recap of Sean Oliver on In Your Head Wrestling Radio, 04/30/2014
by Vic Schiavone

Hosts Jack E. Jones and One Inch Biceps welcomed Sean Oliver of Kayfabe Commentaries to IYH Wrestling Radio for a record-breaking sixth appearance.

Highlights included the following:

* While doing the ‘Timeline 1984’ with Roddy Piper, you seemed to be extremely happy to be talking to him. Why was this particular interview so important to you?

“I was happy to have Piper on because that era, the 80’s WWE stuff, that’s really what I grew up on…So yes, I was thrilled to have the man there that was a part of a lot of it…I know how much Piper was responsible for in the 80’s. Just those few years, ’84 I’d say to ’86, which was really the hammering of the foundation for what was to come. Piper was responsible for a lot of what was going on; he was the counter, he was the opposite to Hogan and all things good and mighty. He was always behind the villainous activities. So naturally unless you have a strong heel you don’t have a strong face; us marks are intelligent enough to know that by now. So yes, I was happy on many counts to be talking to Roddy Piper.”

* A lot of guys came in at this time; who was the most responsible for starting to build the foundation for what became the WWF?

“You had Dr. D (David Schultz), Paul Orndorff, Hulk Hogan, Mean Gene Okerlund on the stick, Bobby Heenan, Piper; that core group…Here are your wrestlers in ‘84, who are the guys that are going to be able to go through this year and make that first event (WrestleMania I) happen?... It was Piper and Hogan…The money that was drawn by Piper and Hogan wasn’t just the times they wrestled each other, it was the whole Cyndi Lauper thing which was the whole Moolah thing. Tell me the last time that many people tuned in to watch a ladies’ match; I think the rating was a 9…The
backbone of that? Piper and Hogan. Piper and Hogan was the foundation for what happened in the 80’s.”

* What are some of the most uncomfortable moments you’ve had on film?

“I think when Tony Atlas unveiled a life-size cutout of Chyna that he was walking around with, and he had that, had that stuff you don’t see coming; when he goes into a bag and says “Hey, look what I got here!” and there it is, and then some glossy 8 by 10’s of her…I think what I said at that point was did he hit a Chyna store on the way here, because this stuff was so accessible to Tony Atlas; he was very excited about it. That was interesting. I think ANYTHING during the Jamie Dundee show could qualify as uncomfortable. I was kissed by him about ten times, we could start there. I think he
was twerking me at one point; grinding into my chair for some reason. I’m not sure why; auditioning for ‘Legend’s House’ perhaps, I don’t know. Anything from that show was pretty uncomfortable.”

Other topics discussed included:
* Is there any wrestler alive and not in prison that he would refuse to work with no matter how many videos he could sell?
* Why was Marty Jannetty so furious about the YouShoot he did with him?
* Has he had any more thoughts about doing a series about enhancement wrestlers?
* Does he believe TNA is going to be dead in a year?

Recap of Clarence Mason on In Your Head Wrestling Radio, 05/07/2014
by Vic Schiavone

Hosts Jack E. Jones and One Inch Biceps welcomed former WWE personality Clarence Mason to IYH Wrestling Radio.

Highlights included the following:

* Looking back at your experience in professional wrestling, is there anything you would change?

“I was extremely thankful to have started out where I started out. Having started out there, in the big leagues, the learning curve was extremely steep. I didn’t have time to pick up the ropes and everything…A lot of things I learned, I picked up and I see things now after the fact,… but trust you me, if things were done all over again, or even if I could go back or even if I could just do it right now, things would be done different. But listen; those are just some small things. All in all, my experience was second to none. I’ll tell anybody; there’s this thing they used to do on the Disney Channel: If you wish upon a star, it makes no difference who you are, anything your heart’s desire it can come true. My dream came true, not once but twice. So whatever problems I may have had, whatever issues how minor they were, paled in comparison to the fact that I actually had a chance to live a dream. I was paid to do something I would have done absolutely for free, and for that I am extremely and eternally grateful.”

* You were there for the early days of the Nation of Domination. Do you think that the Nation of Domination became a racial angle?

“I wasn’t a part of the creative aspect of that...but as far as race was concerned, clearly (Vince) McMahon is an opportunist. There were some racial aspects of it. Clearly if you look at what happened between Faarooq and Ahmed Johnson, they played that step-it-and-fetch-it Uncle Tom routine and that was what they did at the time. Looking back now, even how I played a part in that, if I had to go back and do things all over again I surely would have played that role of Mason a little differently with regard to how that dynamic was. I often think, to be honest with you, you cheapen athletes and you cheapen talent by always going the easy route. I think that if you’re creative with your storylines I think that anyone and everyone can be promoted. There are times that I saw storylines being written and I looked at the way they were written and the grammar and the syntax and the manner in which words and phrases came out and I’m like “Who the hell writes this crap?”…I felt bad that somebody somewhere along the way felt that this was the way they needed to go. I also felt bad that there are some people who were asked to do those things or say those things in the manner in which they were said didn’t have enough to be able to say “No, I’m not going to speak in this manner; I’m not going to do this.”…You could still be a good talent who just happened to be a minority; not a minority talent…It looks like things have changed,
I see talent there right now…some of them seem to have good mic skills, it just takes a bit of cultivating, and they’re good.”

Other topics discussed included:
* Being a real-life attorney, how did you get involved in professional wrestling?
* How did you get along with Jim Cornette, and did he give you any advice when you were starting out?
* How did you end up in WCW?
* Have any of your clients ever recognized you from your wrestling days?

Clarence Mason will be making a rare public appearance at the New England Pro Wrestling FanFest 2014 on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Warwick, Rhode Island. For additional information, go to http://nepwhof.weebly.com/.
