From Mid-Atlantic Memories :
"Mid-Atlantic Memories" is ground-breaking movie project looking at wrestling in the Carolinas during the '60s, '70s and '80s. Wrestling the way it used to be, as told by the promoters, the wrestlers and the fans -- the folks that lived it, and the folks that LOVED IT!
Thanks for taking a moment to watch this introductory video from Bob Caudle, and look for another on YouTube with Jim Cornette, as both explain the concept. Also, please take a moment to read Mike Mooneyham's recent column about the project.
Producer John Andosca's feature-length documentary is a monumental project, and we need your financial support. Money that will help insure that we're able to include everyone -- promoter, wrestler and fan -- that would like to participate and share their "Mid-Atlantic Memories."
To date, we've filmed interviews with dozens of fans and almost two dozen folks that were intimately involved in wrestling in the Carolinas in the last half-century. We have footage "in the can" from Bob Caudle, Les Thatcher, Kendall and Barry Windham, Ricky Morton, Robert Gibson, Jim Cornette, Dennis Condrey, Bobby Eaton, Angelo Mosca, Rich Landrum, James J. Dillon, Johnny Powers, Lars Anderson, Tiger Conway Jr., Baron Von Raschke, Ken Patera, Tony Atlas, Danny Miller, The Assassin (Joe Hamilton,) and Mr. Wrestling II (John Walker.)
Remaining are countless others we hope to sit down with and record their "Mid-Atlantic Memories" -- folks like Ric Flair, Roddy Piper, Blackjack Mulligan, Ox Baker, Jerry Brisco, Tully Blanchard, Greg Valentine, Ivan and Nikita Koloff, Ole Anderson, Magnum T.A., Thunderbolt Patterson, Jimmy Snuka, Iron Sheik, Jimmy Valiant, Elliott Murnick and the Crockett family. And there are so many more!
We're hopeful that we can get former world champions Harley Race, Ron Garvin, Tommy Rich, Dory Funk Jr. and Terry Funk to share their memories about their time spent in the Carolinas, as well.
As important as the former wrestlers are to this project, equally as important are the fans. We're seeking out many more fans that have memories they'd like to share on camera for possible inclusion in the final film project.
This project has been almost a year in the making. We hope to reveal the final, finished product at next summer's 2014 Mid-Atlantic Wrestling Legends Fanfest in Charlotte, but that isn't a deadline set in stone. Most importantly, we want to do this right, and with no limitations! We want, as Bob Caudle says in this video, for this to be a "near accurate and incredible collection of stories about pro wrestling's greatest territory!" And we can assure you it will be nothing less. As we say down south, it will be done right!
We'll be spending countless hours on the road, going far and wide, travelling to the homes of a lot of these folks. It will take a large amount of money to fund a project of this magnitude. We have chosen to bypass the increasingly popular "Kickstarter" method of raising funds, simply to eliminate the middleman. We want to insure you that every dollar you contribute goes directly to the project, not siphoned off for processing fees, etc. That's why we've chosen this method for our fundraising campaign.
Please visit MidAtlanticLegends.com and take a look at the different levels of participation, and all of the "perks" that are being offered with each contribution. Please consider supporting this effort financially.
Thanks very much, in advance, for your support and helping us make this happen!
