…
Just a few days ago Roderick Strong proudly, arrogantly, bragged about his position as ROH World Champion. He carried himself with a level of cockiness that was unbecoming of an honorable champion, and certainly not one who had retained the belt in the fashion he had in his most recent title defenses (Generico & Homicide). For Roderick and the HoT, the ends justified the means…as long as Strong remained champion, it did not matter how he went about keeping the belt.
Now Strong is in territory that has been foreign since September 2010 when he captured the belt at “Glory by Honor IX”. Now Roderick finds himself once again in the role of championship hopeful, in the role of pursuer rather than pursued, and if his actions following his loss to Eddie Edwards at “Manhattan Mayhem IV” are any indication (see the next ROH Video Wire), it is not a role he is very happy with.
Another man is also in that role of title challenger, but unlike Strong, this man is happy to be on the hunt. This man is happy to bide his time for a title opportunity, use those hours to train and perfect his craft. This man is someone with whom Roderick Strong is intensely familiar with, this man is Davey Richards.
And now, when “Honor Takes Center Stage” on Friday night, April 1st, their paths will collide once more! In a rematch of their epic “Final Battle 2010” showdown, Davey Richards & Roderick Strong will go one-on-one in Atlanta, GA! Strong wants his World Title rematch, Richards continues to use his time to hone his skill in anticipation of a title match, and both men will potentially take another step closer to their goals at Center Stage.
“Roderick’s off base, he’s lost his center.” said Davey Richards, “I know what that’s like Roddy, and I know how much it takes to try and find it once again. Unfortunately for you, Atlanta is not going to be the place where you find it again. I am not going to be the man you use to find it again. At Final Battle you were the better man; you smartly took advantage of my concussion, my ruptured ear drum, and kept the title. Honestly I may have done the same if the opportunity presented itself. This time though, this time I will not allow myself to end up in that situation again. This time you will not find a way to beat me. This time Roddy, this time you will be a victim of my hunt.”
Strong vs. Richards, April 1st, “Honor Takes Center Stage”! Tickets are sold out, but you don’t have to miss out because it is available LIVE on iPPV: http://www.gfl.tv/Events/Fight/Wrestling/Honor_Takes_Center_Stage_Both_Shows/968!!!
Last Saturday night in New York City, the Briscoes stepped into the ring at the Manhattan Center to a certifiably mixed reaction, the sort of reaction the Big Apple has been delivering to the former 6-time ROH World Tag Champion for many months now. To the shock of many, the NYC crowd then embraced their opponents, Rhett Titus & Kenny King as they made their way to the ring.
As the match progressed, the fans became even more hostile towards the boys from Sandy Fork and the Brothers Briscoe, finally fed up, gave it back to them just the same. Maybe in part due to the crowd, a match intended to get both teams back on track after their respective losses at the “9th Anniversary Show” turned into a brawl that saw blood spilt, and the ANX eventually pick up the win to the delight of a majority of the crowd.
Things didn’t end when the bell rang. As a matter of fact, the fight continued around ringside, and saw all sorts of ROH security attempt to bring the hostilities to an end. Although finally pulled apart, as the video indicates, the fight continued in the locker room and the four men had to be separated once again.
Well ROH officials have elected to give these four men another chance to settle this score right on Center Stage. Now signed for Saturday April 2nd in Atlanta, GA a Grudge Match between Jay & Mark Briscoe and The All Night Express of Kenny King & Rhett Titus!
“The Briscoes &*%^#@ up.” said Kenny King, “Atlanta’s going to be an ass whipping plain and simple. The ANX are in beast mode Briscoes, that means no holding back and no pulling punches. Take your wrestling and throw it out the window, take the Pretty Boy Pitbull and Addicted to Love and throw them out the window, this is a fight son. You get The Killer and The Threat, and you boys are going to taste your own blood if I’ve got anything to say about it!”
Tickets are sold out for “Honor Takes Center Stage” but be sure to catch the best pound-for-pound wrestling action live on iPPV right here: http://www.gfl.tv/Events/Fight/Wrestling/Honor_Takes_Center_Stage_Both_Shows/968!
