The Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame is proud to announce its Class of 2011, which will be enshrined at the tenth PWHF Induction Ceremony known as PWHF-X. The honorees are: Bronko Nagurski and Everette Marshall in the Pioneer Era category; The Sheik (Ed Farhat) and Dick the Bruiser in the TV Era category, Jerry Lawler and Ivan Koloff in the Modern Era category; Billy Robinson in the International category; The Road Warriors with Paul Ellering in the Tag Team category; Vincent K. 4192 - The Crowning of the Hit King, a new documentary film profiling WWE Hall of Famer Pete Rose’s record-setting baseball playing career, will be released on DVD nationwide February 22. We’d appreciate it if you could give it a plug.

National Release of Pete Rose DVD Slated for February 22nd, 2011

Los Angeles — Rivercoast Films (Cincinnati, OH) and the executive producers of 4192 – The Crowning of the Hit King, a ground breaking documentary on the career of Pete Rose, one of professional baseball’s most compelling personalities, have just announced plans for the film’s national DVD release on February 22nd, 2011.

In his record-setting 23 years as a player for the Cincinnati Reds, Philadelphia Phillies and Montreal Expos, Pete Rose broke the all-time hits record held by the legendary Ty Cobb—a record nobody thought would ever be touched, finishing his playing career with an astounding 4,256 hits. Rose racked up many other major league records, including 3,562 games played, 14,053 at bats, 3215 singles and 5,752 total bases by a switch hitter – stats that will likely never be equaled.

His world class career notwithstanding, in 1989, then Commissioner Bart Giamatti banned Rose from professional baseball – and an inevitable place in baseball’s Hall of Fame – for betting on games while he managed the Reds.  The ban is still in effect.

Directed by Terry Lukemire and produced by G. Anthony Huser and Aymie Majerski, 4192 – The Crowning of the Hit King, profiles Rose in his glory days and includes extensive footage with Hall of Fame players Tony Perez and Mike Schmidt, as well as Hall of Fame sportscaster Marty Brennaman.
