No shows scheduled this weekend. NWS wishes its fans a happy Memorial Day weekend.
Results From Last Weekend:
National Wrestling Superstars finished off a sensational month with the first of two shows this past weekend on Friday night May 21st in Bergenfield NJ at the Bergenfield VFW Hall and the fans, although small compared to shows at the beginning of the month, were very enthusiastic right from the opening bell.
- Match #1: WSU Spirit Champion Brittney Savage and her partner the NWS Junior Heavyweight champion, known as "The Love Machine" Nicky Oceans defeated Tina San Antonio and Manuel "Manny" Moore when Oceans hit the Boom-Boom-Pow on Moore and Savage pinned the luchador from Mexico.
- Match #2: The team of "The Bergen Jobber" J.P. Pierce and his partner Big Man Blade Michaels defeated The Soul Assassin and the Illegal Outer Space Alien.
- Match #3: The next bout was signed, sealed and delivered on March 5th at Dumont High School as Reality Check Members Danny Demanto and Kevin Matthews (accompanied by their manager Brittney Savage) took on the Nigerian Nightmares. Reality Check took it to their 900+ pound opponents but at the end, after unsuccessful pinning attempts by both Matthews and Demanto, the Nightmares were able to put them away.
- Match #4: Russian star Boris Nobeka, accompanied to the ring by his manager Comrad Chow defeated Sabotage. It looked like Sabotage had this match won, but thanks to outside interference by Chow, Nobeka was able to score the win.
- Match #5: Former NWS Cruiserweight champion J.D. Smoothie and current NWS heavyweight champion Corey Havoc took on the team of Pastor George and current cruiserweight champion Joey Janela and to everyone's surprise, George and Janela scored a double pin on Havoc and Smoothie to get the win for their team.
- MAIN EVENT: Former WWE star Gene "It's Not My Fault" Snitsky defeated Mo Sexton in a Loser Goes Through A Table Match, which was also set up in Dumont in March. Snitsky, who found Sexton's family in the crowd, which infuriated Sexton and the two battled all around the building with both of them using chairs and searching or tables. After 12 mintues with both wrestlers back in the ring, Snitsky found the table and put Sexton on it and climbed the ropes for a flying elbow, which landed but the table didn't break. Gene used his trademark line "Hey, it's not my fault" and tried another two times but the table would not break. Finally, after the third time, Sexton appeared out cold and Snitsky told the referee to make the 3 count and he got the win. Sitting on the side was Reality Check member Danny Demanto who verbally assaulted Snitsky. Snitsky, after several minutes of Demanto yelling, pulled him into the ring and put him through the table, sending the fans home happy.
National Wrestling Superstars made its first ever appearance at Livingston, NJ's High School Gym on Saturday night May 22nd, and the fans in the Livingston area showed they were certainly starved for NWS's brand of hot pro wrestling action, as a larger than expected crowd filled the gym to cheer on the stars.
- In the opening contest, Nick Talent (with "career advisor" Danny Demanto) defeated The Illegal Outer Space Alien. Despite a courageous effort from the larger Alien, it was the two-on-one odds that doomed him. Demanto threw a chain to Talent, and while the referee was taking it away, Demanto snuck into the ring and leveled the Alien with a Diamond-Cutter, allowing Talent to take advantage and get the 1-2-3.
- In a Three-Way Elimination Match for the NWS Cruiserweight Title, challenger "Mr. Entertainment" J.D. Smoothie defeated the champion Jumping Joey Janela (accompanied by his mother and Livingston High alumnus Diane Janela) and other challenger Mighty Mikey Pacifica to become the *NEW* NWS Cruiserweight Champion. Before the match, Joey paid tribute to his late father who was also a Livingston High alumnus, but Smoothie interrupted the tribute with insults to the Janela family and promised to show Diane what a "real man" was like before the night was out. The three wrestlers tore into each other with high-flying and high-impact moves that had the crowd on the edge of their seats. Mikey was the first to be eliminated when, after leveling Smoothie with a flying splash, Janela planted Mikey into the mat with a corkscrew Michinoku Driver and eliminated him with a 1-2-3. Smoothie then went out of the ring and started menacing Diane Janela. As Joey went out and tried to chase Smoothie away from his mother, Smoothie flattened Janela outside the ring with a "Wet Floor" sign, then dragged him into the ring, hit him with a flying Leg Drop From Across The Delaware, and pinned him 1-2-3 to become the new champion. As Smoothie celebrated, an angry Diane Janela complained to Commissioner Gino Moore, but all the Commissioner could do was promise that the next time Joey and Smoothie were in the ring together, Joey could invoke his rematch clause.
- In a three-on-two Handicap Tag-Team Match, The Nigerian Nightmares (Maifu & Saifu, with manager Voodoo Princess Sheeta) defeated The ZWO World Order ("Big Furry" Tiger Nash & "The Baaaaa-d Guy" Goat Hall & Nikko-Pac). The ZWO team turned out to be the handicapped team in this match, as they were tossed around like stuffed animals by the 900+ pound Nightmares for the entire match, which ended with The Nightmares hitting Nikko-Pac with their "Throw Him Under A Bus" move, followed by a Nigerian Roll, for the merciful 1-2-3. The Nightmares apparently weren't content with beating up the ZWO, as they also beat up the Security team trying to escort them from the ring to the back.
- In a non-title match, former WWE hall-of-fame legend "El Matador" Tito Santana defeated NWS Heavyweight Champion "Corrupted" Corey Havoc (with career advisors Danny Demanto & Nicky Oceans). Before the match, Santana claimed he only signed up for a one-on-one match, and asked Commissioner Moore to do something about Demanto and Oceans. Commissioner Moore agreed, and ejected Demanto and Oceans from ringside. With match being truly one-on-one, Havoc tried all his tricks and moves, and actually made a good showing of himself, but Santana's experience won the day. After Havoc missed a flying elbow drop, Santana powered back and leveled Havoc with a Flying Burrito forearm and got the pin 1-2-3. Before Santana could celebrate the victory, Danny Demanto and Nicky Oceans ran back into the ring, along with J.D. Smoothie, and attacked Santana. They were chased off moments later by the appearance of former WWE star Snitsky. Demanto berated Snitsky for sticking his nose into his business, and Snitsky responded by challenging Demanto to a "Loser Goes Through A Door" Match later in the evening.
- In another non-title match, luchador Manuel Manny Moore (with Diane Janela in his corner) defeated NWS Junior Heavyweight Champion "The Love Machine" Nicky Oceans (with J.D. Smoothie in his corner). The plucky luchador took the fight to Oceans, but Oceans' experience advantage, plus Smoothie's presence on the outside, seemed to be too much for Manny. Oceans actually put Manny down with his Boom-Boom-Pow finisher, but interrupted the three-count, saying he was not finished. Smoothie then seized Diane Janela, whom he had been stalking all throughout the match, and threw her into the ring for Oceans to attack. Smoothie grabbed Diane and held her against the ropes for Oceans to take out with a running clothesline, but Diane ducked out at the last second and Oceans ended up leveling Smoothie instead. Manny took advantage of the moment to roll up Oceans from behind with a schoolboy rollup and got the 1-2-3 victory. As an enraged Smoothie jumped into the ring and seized Diane, Manny removed his luchador mask to reveal that he was in fact Joey Janela! Diane slapped Smoothie, and then an enraged Janela hit Smoothie with a corkscrew Michinoku Driver, and the referee counted 1-2-3 for Janela and handed him the NWS Cruiserweight Belt! Commissioner Moore announced that, in keeping with the rematch rules, Janella and Smoothie had been in the ring together, and therefore Janela had the right to invoke his rematch clause, and Janela was therefore once again the NWS Cruiserweight Champion!
- In the main event, former WWE star Snitsky defeated "The Cold-Hearted Playa" Danny Demanto in a "Loser Gets Put Through A Door" Match. After trading insults for several minutes, the two big men finally locked up, and engaged in a heavy-hitting brawl inside and outside the ring, using chairs and other objects freely on each other, and even battling on top of the bleachers. After the door was finally brough into the ring, both men battled to try and smash the other into the ring, but after a series of blocking each other's chokeslam attempts, Snitsky was able to successfully chokeslam Demanto into the door which smashed in two, giving Snitsky the victory and sending the fans home happy.
The NWS Cruiserweight Title Changes Hands TWICE, In One Night
Wrestling fans are always on the edge of their seats when a title belt is on the line, hoping to experience the thrill of seeing a challenger defeat a champion and win the title.
But last Saturday night in Livingston, NJ, the fans got more than they bargained for, as the NWS Cruiserweight Title changed hands not just once, but TWICE, in the same night.
For the reigning NWS Cruiserweight Champion Jumping Joey Janela, this show was a homecoming of sorts, as both his mother and late father were both alumni of Livingston High School, and his mother Diane Janela was in his corner as he defended his title in a three-way elimination match against two former champions in Mighty Mikey Pacifica and "Mr. Entertainment" J.D. Smoothie. Smoothie intended to use any means necessary to regain the title, and he seemed to find a way to get under the champion's skin, and that was by stalking his mother Diane.
Unfortunately, Joey's devotion to his mother would cost him dearly. Late in the match, after Pacifica had been eliminated, Smoothie left the ring and began menacing Diane outside the ring. When Joey came to her aid, Smoothie knocked him out with a "Wet Floor" sign, then dragged him into the ring, hit him with a flying legdrop, and pinned him 1-2-3 to become the new champion. Despite both Joey's and Diane's protests, the referee didn't see Smoothie's actions outside the ring, so the decision stood.
Most defeated champions would leave the ring, regroup, and wait for the matchmakers to grant him a rematch. But Joey was no ordinary wrestler, and he devised a better plan.
Later that night, NWS Junior Heavyweight Champion Nicky Oceans, with J.D. Smoothie in his corner, was wrestling veteran NWS luchador Manuel Manny Moore in a non-title match, and Diane Janela was in the corner of Moore hoping to get some payback on Smoothie in the process. Moore was giving the veteran Oceans all he could handle, but Oceans eventually caught Moore in his Boom-Boom-Pow finisher. But rather than pin Moore, Oceans and Smoothie dragged Diane Janela into the ring, and Smoothie held Diane against the ropes for Oceans to knock out with a running clothesline. But Diane ducked out of the hold at the last minute, and Oceans collided with Smoothie. Moore took advantage of the stunned Oceans and rolled him up from behind for a three-count and an upset victory.
Smoothie was not about to let Diane Janela get the last laugh on him, and seized her in the ring and threatened to assault her right on the spot. What Smoothie did not see was Manuel Manny Moore remove his luchador mask to reveal himself as... Joey Janela. As Diane slapped Smoothie, Joey snuck up behind Smoothie and planted him into the mat with a vicious corkscrew Michinoku Driver. He then covered Smoothie as the referee counted 1-2-3, and further stunned the crowd by handing Joey the Cruiserweight Belt. Commissioner Moore explained that as both Joey and Smoothie had been in the ring, Joey had the right to invoke his rematch clause on the spot, and, to the delighted cheers of the crowd, proclaimed Joey as once again the NWS Cruiserweight Champion!
How will Smoothie take having the title in his grasp and losing it the same night? Can he regroup and regain the title. These two will certainly meet again at a future show, make sure you don't miss it.
