National Wrestling Superstars Internet News Update For Week Of 4/26: NWS Completes Yet Another Double-Shot Weekend, Danny Demanto & Kevin Matthews & Nicky Oceans Give NWS A Reality Check, More J-Cup Participants Are Announced, All The FWF Titles Are Up For Grabs This Weekend, And More
Hello NWS fans! This is your weekly update on what's happened, what is happening now, and what is going to happen soon in the nation's leading family-friendly pro wrestling promotion, National Wrestling Superstars.
Results From Last Weekend:
National Wrestling Superstars kicked off yet another double shot weekend this past Friday, April 23rd at the Dunellen Knights of Columbus Hall and the place was packed with fans young and old alike.
- Before the opening bell, Danny Demanto, Kevin Matthews and Nicky Oceans went to the ring and informed the fans that the team, formerly known as The Commandos (which were Demanto, Matthews and Oceans) were dead (the team that is) and that they were now for forever more to be known as Reality Check and that they were going to change the way wrestling is done and put fans and promoters alike on notice that they were in for a Reality Check. Then they taunted and insulted the fans before being ordered away by NWS officials.
- Match #1: Mexico's Manuel "Manny" Moore & former NWS Cruiserweight champion "Mr. Entertainment" J.D. Smoothie were escorted to the ring by Danny Demanto who said he was scouting new talent for Reality Check. This high flying duo took on current Cruiserweight Champion Jumping Joey Janela and Brooklyn's Sonny Boy Gulano, who were managed by former WWE/ECW star Dawn Marie. This was a hard hitting opener with lots of action. When it looked like Janela had Smoothie down for the win, Danny distracted the referee and Moore pinned Janela. Danny stayed in the ring and did a shoot on Dawn Marie and Balls Mahoney before NWS officials ordered him to leave the area.
- Match #2: Rising star Robert Pigeon took on a star from NWS' sister promotion, Funkdafied Wrestling Federation, The Funky White Boy in a match where Pigeon was trying to get onto the FWF roster and figured what better way than to take on the Funky one himself. Lots of fast-paced action that saw Pigeon hit Funky with an elbow to the temple and got the 1-2-3.
- Match #3: Danny Demanto once again came to ringside, this time with NWS Heavyweight Champion "Corrupted" Corey Havoc and his partner Jack Spade as they took on Jeff "Cannonball" Guererro and the former ECW Zombie. Demanto also had a cohort at ringside in the likes of J.D. Smoothie as he insisted that Zombie was too dangerous and needed an extra pair of eyes to keep things on the up and up. So Zombie and Cannonball enlisted the aid of Dawn Marie and local Football mascot Stony. Despite the outside management by Dawn Marie and Stony, Havoc and Spade scored the win and the pin. After the match, Demanto grabbed the mic and taunted the fans with more Reality Check rhetoric and belittled Dawn Marie and Balls Mahoney, who had an open contract for the main event. After nearly five minutes of this verbal abuse, Balls came out and issued a challenge to Demanto and Commissioner Gino Moore told Demanto that Mahoney had an open contract to wrestle anyone in the locker room and tonight was Danny's lucky night.
- Match 4: NWS listened to the fans and provided them with a rematch of the finals of the Captain Lou Albano Memorial J-Cup Tag Team Tournament and matched the undefeated Nigerian Nightmares against the team formerly known as The Commandos, now known as Reality Check, Kevin Matthews & Nicky Oceans. This was an aggressive battle between both teams. After ten minutes, both teams battled outside of the ring. Matthews and NightmareMaifu battled out the front door and all way back in as other two, Oceans and Nightmare Saifu, battled in the ring. As one team came in, the other went out the door. Matthews and Maifu battled all the way back to the locker room, with Saifu and Oceans following them back to the locker room, and the match was ruled a no-contest.
- Match #5: In a match made earlier in the evening, Reality Check's Danny Demanto took on former ECW/WWE brawler John "Balls" Mahoney in a no-disqualification / no-countout match. This was a battle that neither man expected as they matched each other hold for hold for nearly fifteen minutes before Demanto used his fist to Mahoney's head to open a wound. Despite this, Mahoney was able to battle back and defeat Demanto for the win.
National Wrestling Superstars made their third annual appearance at Atco, NJ's Assumption School on Saturday night April 24th, and the Atco area fans showed that they just can't get enough of the Northeast's leading family-friendly promotion, as a good-sized and enthusiastic throng of fans turned out to cheer on the action.
- In the opening contest, south Philadelphia's Devon Moore defeated "Mr. Entertainment" J.D. Smoothie. This battle of cruiserweight standouts was pretty even until Smoothie became frustrated that he could not hold Moore down for a three-count, accused Referee Sargeant Jimmy Storm of slow counts, and shoved him. NWS' "wrestling referee" shoved right back twice as hard, right into a schoolboy rollup by Moore (with Sargeant Storm only too happy to speed up his three-count).
- In a tag-team match, The Nigerian Nightmares (Maifu & Saifu, with manager Voodoo Princess Sheeta) crushed The Zoo World Order (Tiger Man & Goat Boy). This was hardly a match, as the over 800 pounds of the Nightmares had their way with the ZWO, and after Tiger Man was flattened with twin splashes and an overhead slam from the top rope, Commissioner Moore had an NWS official throw in the towel and halt the match before Tiger Man could suffer permanent injury.
- NWS Cruiserweight Champion Jumping Joey Janella and "High Profile" Aaron Arbo fought to a time-limit draw. The fans were treated to an exhibition of high-speed and high-flying moves from these two athletes for the entire match, and when the bell rang and the match was a draw, Janella and Arbo shook hands in a show of good sportsmanship.
- In a tag-team grudge match, Reality Check ("Too Cocky" Kevin Matthews & "The Love Machine" Nicky Oceans, with fellow RC member Danny Demanto & Demanto's "spiritual advisor" Voodoo Princess Sheeta) defeated former WWE TV stars "America's Hero" The Patriot & The Famous Clown (with former WWE & ECW diva Dawn Marie & Atco's Rocky Falco in their corner). The WWE veterans took the fight to Matthews and Oceans, keeping the match even in the ring. But it was the presence of Demanto and Sheeta outside the ring that ended up being the deciding factor, as Sheeta blinded Rocky with a cloud of voodoo powder to his eyes, while Demanto tried once again to make advances on Dawn Marie. This drew out The Patriot who came to Dawn's aid on the outside and pummeled Demanto, which unfortunately left The Clown in the ring to be double-teamed by Matthews and Oceans and pinned after a Hart-Attack-style double-team clothesline. Matthews & Oceans & Demanto continued the attack on The Patriot & The Clown after the match, aided by The Nigerian Nightmares and J.D. Smoothie, until former WWE hall-of-fame legend Tito Santana ran out from the locker room and chased the attackers away. Santana seized the microphone and said he had a contract for an open challenge against anyone in the locker room, and singled out Danny Demanto. Commissioner Moore was only too happy to make the match for the main event later that night.
- In a bonus ladies match, WSU Spirit Champion Brittney Savage retained her title against challenger Niya. The newcomer challenger indeed displayed plenty of spirit, and gave the champion plenty of opposition but the veteran Brittney had the edge, and pinned Niya after a Diamond Cutter to retain the title.
- In the Main Event, former WWE hall-of-fame legend "El Matador" Tito Santana (with Dawn Marie in his corner) defeated "The Cold-Hearted Playa" Danny Demanto (with his"spiritual advisor" Voodoo Princess Sheeta) . The veteran Santana showed he could still match wrestling holds with anyone in the business, as he kept pace with Demanto early on. After being clotheslined out of the ring, Demanto claimed he had an injured knee and could not continue, but when Tito offered to help carry him into the back in a sign of true sportsmanship, Demanto "miraculously recovered" and leveled Santana outside the ring. Demanto continued the attack on Santana for several minutes, and despite using both a Camel Clutch and a Sleeper hold, could not put the WWE veteran away. After Demanto missed a finishing Moonsault, Santana slapped a Figure-Four leglock on Demanto and seemed poised for victory, but Demanto's Reality Check teammates Kevin Matthews & Nicky Oceans came out, pulled referee Mike Jones out of the ring and knocked him out, and attacked Santana. But the odds were evened out as The Patriot and The Clown came out and pulled Matthews and Oceans out of the ring. Meanwhile, Dawn Marie got up on the ring apron, attracting Demanto's attention (as he had been trying to make advances on her all night), but when he got in her face for what he hoped would be a kiss, he received a hearty slap from Dawn instead. A stunned Demanto turned around and walked right into a Flying Burrito from Santana, and Rocky Falco ran in wearing a referee's shirt and made the three-count for Santana, sending the fans home happy and Demanto home without a victory or a kiss from Dawn Marie.
NWS Gets A Reality Check
On Friday night in Dunellen, NJ, the NWS fans packed the house to see, among other attractions, the rematch between the 2010 J-Cup Tag-Team Tournament Champions, the undefeated Nigerian Nightmares Maifu & Saifu, and their opponents in the finals of the tournament, The Commandos ("Too Cocky" Kevin Matthews & Nicky Oceans). But lo and behold, Matthews and Oceans and Demanto came out wearing "Reality Check" T-Shirts. As Commandos, their success may have been marginal; now they plan to give all of NWS a reality check.
And they are already off to a good start, as they fought the aforementioned Nigerian Nightmares to a no-contest on Friday, and on Saturday they defeated former WWE TV veterans The Patriot & The Famous Wrestling Clown. And this coming Saturday night May 1st in Brick, NJ they will attempt to continue their domination of NWS by taking on their longest running tag-team, The Baghdad Bullies (Hasheem "Chemical" Ali & Evil T.N.T). Will Reality Check dominate, or will NWS' two biggest veterans give Matthews & Oceans their own first "reality check". Either way, this is a matchup not to be missed!
FWF Putting All Its Belts Up For Grabs This Sunday At "Funk-A-Mania VII"
NWS' Delaware affiliate Funkdafied Wrestling Federation will hold its biggest show of the year, "Funk-A-Mania VII", this coming Sunday afternoon May 2nd in New Castle, DE. And on this extravaganza, all the FWF title belts have been declared vacant, with matches to crown all-new champions.
For the FWF Cruiserweight Title, former champion "Mr. Entertainment" J.D. Smooth, The Soul Assassin, and Mighty Mikey Pacifica will battle for the belt in a Triple-Threat Match, and if that wasn't enough, they will battle inside a fifteen-foot-high STEEL CAGE! An ordinary wrestling ring was not enough to contain these three high-fliers... will the cage be enough?
For the FWF Tag-Team Titles, two teams that have been literally tearing up FWF (and each other) as of late will have their ultimate showdown this Sunday, as the undefeated Nigerian Nightmares (Maifu & Saifu) will go after their first title belts under the NWS banner. Standing in their way, and to date not intimidated by them one bit, are former champions, and big men in their own right, Dark Karnival (Jo-Jo & Chio). These two teams battled twice already with both matches being thrown out for being out of control. This time there must be a winner... will Jo-Jo & Chio succeed in handing The Nightmares their first defeat, or will The Nightmares prove their ultimate dominance once again. This matchup alone could be worth the price of admission.
And for the FWF Heavyweight Title, long-time FWF fan-favorite The Funky White Boy will get a chance to wear the ultimate prize on Sunday. Standing in his way will be Billy Wiles, who beat down FWB a week ago at the last FWF show. Can FWB look past the revenge motivation and win the gold?
And in addition, former FWF Heavyweight Champion Johnny Maxx returned to FWF a week ago, and made his intentions known that he too wants a chance at regaining the FWF Heavyweight Title. Johnny called himself "a legend in the making", so NWS/FWF management signed a match for him at "Funk-A-Mania VII" against a true wrestling legend... former WWE hall-of-famer "El Matador" Tito Santana! Can Johnny prove himself against a real legend, or is it all just talk?

We will reveal the four remaining names in the field of 12 next week's update.

NWS Upcoming Schedule
This Friday night April 30th, NWS debuts at the Morris Knolls High School Gym, 48 Knoll Drive in Denville, NJ (just off Franklin Avenue and U.S. Route 46, minutes from Interstate-80), with a 7:45pm bell time.
And for their first ever show in Denville, NWS has a treat for the fans, as making a rare north Jersey appearance will be none other than the former WWE TV superstar and Native American Warrior Tatanka, who is ready to tomahawk-chop his opposition down to size.
And along with a Native American hero, we have a good old-fashioned stars-and-stripes American hero coming to Denville in "America's Hero" The Patriot.
And finally, he may not be native American, but he's a hero around the world... he's a former WWE Intercontinental and Tag-Team Champion and Hall of Famer "El Matador" Tito Santana. NWS will also be showing off its champions this Friday night in a big way. NWS Cruiserweight Champion Jumping Joey Janella will defend his title against two former champions in a Triple-Threat Match, in the form of "Mr. Entertainment J.D. Smoothie and Mighty Mikey Pacifica. Over the past few months, Smoothie has shown he will do anything (and we mean *ANYTHING*) to get his title back, and Mikey Pacifica has been repeatedly injured, but he recovers and keeps on coming back. Anything can happen when these three get in the ring together. And NWS Junior Heavyweight Champion "The Love Machine" Nicky Oceans will defend the title against north Jersey standout and former champion and former WWE developmental star Damian Adams.
Also on the bill will be the antics of The Famous TV Wrestling Clown and regional and local pro mat stars such as "The Cold-Hearted Playa" Danny Demanto, "Too Cocky" Kevin Matthews, Skitzo, The Mideast Bullies (Hasheem "Chemical" Ali & Saddam Insane), and more.
Tickets are only $20 for a limited set of golden reserved ringside seats, $18 for open ringside seats, and $16 for bleacher seats.
This Saturday night May 1st, NWS returns to its most popular (and most-often sold out) Jersey Shore venue, the Brick, NJ Elks Lodge (2491 Hooper Avenue, just off Route 70 at the Brick Plaza, minutes from the Parkway), with a 7:35pm bell time.
And for their return to their most popular Jersey Shore venue, NWS has a treat for the fans, as making a rare Jersey Shore appearance will be none other than the former WWE TV superstar and Native American Warrior Tatanka, who is ready to tomahawk-chop his opposition down to size.
Also in Brick, the Jersey Shore will be graced by the extremely beautiful (and just as devious) former WWE and ECW diva Dawn Marie
And finally, a frequent headliner returns to Brick once again, as the 7-foot-7 former Oddities member Giant Silva tries to squeeze under the low ceiling of the Elks Lodge. And this extraordinary individual will compete in an extraordinary match, where four opponents will try to pin him down inside a giant fishnet. We call it a "Gulliver's Travels" Match... once you see it you'll call it something you were glad you were there to see.
And speaking of extraordinary matches... two tag-teams that are extraordinarily despised by the fans have found someone they hate even more than the fans, each other, as The Commandos ("Too Cocky" Kevin Matthews & "The Love Machine" Nicky Oceans) take on The Original Baghdad Bullies (Hasheem "Chemical" Ali & "The Evil American Turncoat" T.N.T). Another tag-team grudge match will be settled in Brick, as The Illegal Outer Space Alien & G. Hadd will once again battle the Jersey Shore lunatic Slayer & Manuel Manny Moore. Plus other regional and local pro mat stars including NWS Cruiserweight Champion Jumping Joey Janella, Mighty Mikey Pacifica, Ray-Ray Marz, "The Cold-Hearted Playa" Danny Demanto", Indian Chief Draven, A.C. Kewl, G-Fatal, and much more.
All that and much more. Tickets are only $20 for adults and $18 for kids & seniors (and always sell out fast).
This Sunday afternoon May 2nd, NWS heads down to link up with its Delaware affiliate Funkdafied Wrestling Federation for "FWF Funk-A-Mania VII" at New Castle, DE's Nur Shrine Temple (190 South Dupont Highway, along U.S. Routes 13 and 40, minutes south of I-295 and the Delaware Memorial Bridge), with a 3:00pm bell time.
This event will feature former WWE star "El Matador" Tito Santana. In addition, all of the currently vacant titles will be on the line in New Castle. The FWF Cruiserweight Title will be contested by no less that *THREE* contenders, J.D. Smoothie, Mighty Mikey Pacifica, and The Soul Assassin... and within the confines of a fifteen-foot-high STEEL CAGE! The undefeated Nigerian Nightmares (Maifu & Saifu) will battle the team that has stood toe-to-toe with them as equals, Dark Karnival (Jo-Jo & Chio) for the FWF Tag-Team Titles. And Billy Wiles will battle longtime FWF fan-favorite Funky White Boy for the FWF Heavyweight Title.
The card will also feature other favorite stars of FWF and NWS. (For information, or to order tickets, call the FWF box office at (302) 420-7287)
Friday night May 7th, NWS returns to one of its biggest venues, the Manville, NJ VFW Hall (600 Washington Avenue, just off South Main Street, minutes from Routes 22 and I-287), with a 7:45pm bell time.
And the fans are in for a most unusual and exciting double main event. First of all, the VFW Hall will play host to the first ever no-holds-barred Manville Street Fight between Rich "Ice-Pick" Lowinski, Indian Warrior Draven, Jack Spade, and Baghdad Bullies member Hasheem "Chemical" Ali. A Street Fight is nothing unusual in pro wrestling, but this one will be, as wrestlers will not bring any weapons to the ring... instead, they will use weapons that the fans bring to the show (only legal and non-lethal weapons will be allowed).
And the other half of the main event will feature a most unusual and exciting tag-team, as former WWE superstar and master of the "Stinkface" Rikishi teams up with the dancing former ECW icon The Blue Meanie to take on the hated duo known as The Commandos ("The Cold-Hearted Playa" Danny Demanto & "Too Cocky" Kevin Matthews).
In addition, NWS Jersey Shore Champion Myke "G.Q." Quest will defend his title against David Cole, and the undefeated 2010 J-Cup Tag-Team Tournament winners The Nigerian Nightmares (Maifi & Saifu) go up against the dangerous duo of "The Love Machine" Nicky Oceans & Pat "The Buck Stops Here" Buck, and a pair of high-fliers will thrill the fans as Ring of Honor's Alex Payne will take on Chikara Wrestling star Frightmare.
And on the heels of the popular annual King And Queen Of The Ring Tournament, there will be an inter-gender tag-team matchup in Manville as "Mr. Entertainment" J.D. Smoothie teams up with WSU Spirit Champion Brittney Savage to take on NWS Cruiserweight Champion Jumping Joey Janella & Tina SanAntonio. Tickets are only $19 for adults and $17 for kids and seniors.
Saturday night May 8th, NWS makes its annual return to North Middletown, NJ's St. Catherine’s Church Gym (5 Shore Acres Avenue, just off Route 36, minutes from the Parkway), with a 7:35pm bell time.
And on the weekend that NWS labels "Mother's Day Mayhem", the fans are in for a most unusual and exciting double main event. First of all, three NWS title holders, all from the Bayshore area, will meet in an ultimate Triple-Threat Ladders-Tables-And-Chairs Match to decide who is the champion of champions, as as NWS Heavyweight Champion "Corrupted" Corey Havoc, NWS Junior Heavyweight Champion "The Love Machine" Nicky Oceans, and NWS Cruiserweight Champion Jumping Joey Janella battle.
And the other half of the main event will feature a most unusual and exciting tag-team, as former WWE superstar and master of the "Stinkface" Rikishi teams up with the dancing former ECW icon The Blue Meanie. Their opponents... well, that will be decided that night, as in the other corner will be one of two tag teams, either the 800+ pound undefeated Nigerian Nightmares (Maifu & Saifu), or the duo of former ECW and WCW star Julio Dinero (with his lovely manager Miss Michelle) & former WWE developmental star Pat Buck. How will they decide? Who will decide? Come to North Middletown that night and find out. But that's not all, as a grudge match which has been brewing for months will finally come to a head in North Middletown, "The American Turncoat" T.N.T. will take on referee-turned-wrestler and Bayshore area native Big Bill Mills. T.N.T and Mills have been having heat for months now, and back in February in Keyport, T.N.T literally snapped and attacked Mills, who will be more than happy to trade his referee shirt for a pair of wrestling tights in order to get his hands on T.N.T. As an added bonus, Hazlet's "Outlaw" Shane O'Brien, who was also attacked by T.N.T last February, has been appointed as special guest referee for this match.
Also on the show will be a "Big Man Blowout" three-way match between three other Bayshore area rising stars, in the form of Michael Reigns, Big Kev, and Shock, plus an inter-gender tag-team matchup featuring "Mr. Entertainment" J.D. Smoothie teaming up with WSU Spirit Champion Brittney Savage to take on Bayshore area native Skitzo & Tina SanAntonio, and appearances by Tiger-Man, Goat-Boy, and Rotten Ralph. Tickets are only $20 for ringside seats and $18 for bleacher seats.
Friday night May 14th, NWS returns to the Kenilworth, NJ Veterans Center (33 South 21st Street, just off The Boulevard, minutes from the Parkway) for one of the biggests pro wrestling shows of the year, the "2010 Chris Candido Memorial J-Cup Tag-Team Tournament", with a 7:45pm bell time.
Chris Candido was known and loved by wrestling fans not just in NWS, where he frequently main-evented, but all around the world, until his tragic death five years ago. By coincidence, he passed away the night before NWS was to host their first J-Cup Tournament since purchasing the rights to it from the defunct and forgotten promotion JCW, and NWS immediately re-dedicated it in his memory.
And in the spirit of Chris' tremendous wrestling ability, this event will bring twelve of the area's best cruiserweight, middleweight, and junior-heavyweight wrestlers together for a one-night single-elimination tournament to crown the best of the best. Four of those standouts will be EWA star "Hurricane" John Walters, Nick Talent, Pat "The Buck Stops Here" Buck, and "Mr. Entertainment" J.D. Smoothie. They will join already announced competitors Ring Of Honor star Alex Payne, Chikara Wrestling star Frightmare, NWS Cruiserweight Champion Jumping Joey Janella, and NWS Junior Heavyweight Champion "The Love Machine" Nicky Oceans.
But even though this night is for the lightweights, the heavyweights of the wrestling world will not get the night off, as they will all be competing in a Big Man Over-The-Top-Rope Battle Royal. The winner gets... a match later that night with former WWE behemoth "The Ugandan Headhunter" Kamala, with former WWE & WCW star "America's Hero" The Patriot as special guest referee.
All this and more. Tickets are only $18 for adults and $16 for kids and seniors.
Saturday night May 15th, NWS returns to Flemington, NJ's American Legion Hall (41 State Route 31, just off U.S. Route 202, immediately north of the Flemington Circle), with a 7:35pm bell time.
And "thrilling" doesn't even begin to describe it, as headlining this great event will be a former WWE TV superstar for generations of fans, "The Ugandan Headhunter" Kamala.
There will also be a "Three-Way Dance For Supremacy" between three of the top stars on the wrestling circuit, in Ring of Honor star Alex Payne, "Hurricane" John Walters, and "Too Cocky" Kevin Matthews.. Also on the bill will be the 2010 J-Cup Tag-Team Tournament winners and undefeated 800+ pound behemoths The Nigerian Nightmares (Maifu & Saifu), NWS Heavyweight Champion "Corrupted" Corey Havoc, the antics of The Famous TV Wrestling Clown, "Mr. Entertainment" J.D. Smoothie, and much more.
Tickets are only $18 for adults and $16 for kids & seniors.
Friday night May 21st, NWS returns to the Bergenfield, NJ V.F.W. Hall (321 South Washington Avenue, just north of Teaneck Road and Route 4), with a 7:45pm bell time.
The fans in the Bergen County area will get to witness their first ever "Loser Gets Put Though A Door Match", as recent WWE RAW TV superstar Snitsky takes on New Milford's pro sensation Mo Sexton.
There will also be a tag-team match of truly mammoth proportions, as the 800+ pound undefeated Nigerian Nightmares (Maifu & Saifu) take on The Commandos ("The Cold-Hearted Playa" Danny Demanto & "Too Cocky" Kevin Matthews).
There will also be title matches and much more. Tickets are only $19 for adults and $17 for kids and seniors.
Saturday night May 22nd, NWS debuts at the Livingston, NJ High School Gym (30 Robert H. Harp Drive, minutes from Route 10 and the Livingston Circle), with a 7:35pm bell time.
The fans in the Essex County area will get to witness recent WWE RAW TV superstar Snitsky, who has announced his intention to issue an open challenge to anyone in the building to a "Loser Gets Put Through A Door" Match.
And speaking of open challenges, another former WWE TV legend plans to come to Livingston and issue an open challenge, none other than former WWE Hall of Famer "El Matador" Tito Santana. There will also be title matches galore, and much more. Tickets are only $20 for ringside seats and $18 for bleacher seats.
Tickets for all shows are available by calling the NWS box office at (732) 888-1704. All major charge cards are accepted, and group rates are available for groups of ten or more.
