…..many more remembrances added..now 10 pages……

I was very saddened to hear about the passing of Georgie.   I was in an airport in Denver when Pete (a mutual friend of mine and Georgiann's who I recently reconnected with) called me with the sad news.  I also received a call from Dominic Valenti - who left a message for me with more of the details.    I had recently began talking to Georgie again on a regular basis.  We have kept in touch over the years since I left the wrestling business in 1996.   Over the past month - she and I were discussing the recording career of WWE diva Micky James, and I promised to keep her in the loop in regard to any news I would hear about her here in Nashville.  She also reconnected me with Pete, as well as Dominic.
I just spoke to her last week.   I have known Georgiann since 1972 (when I ran the Fred Blassie fan club).  Our friendship grew throughout my years in the business.   I trusted her.
She was a link to all wrestling fans.  Her passion for the business was evident - and she truly loved what she did.   Georgie was instrumental in hooking me up with Buddy Rogers when I wanted to bring him in to my "Weekend of Champions" wrestling fans convention in 1991.  That memory of having him and Bruno Sammartino appear in the same weekend with Rick Flair, Lou Thesz, Fabulous Moolah, Superstar Billy Graham, and so many others will live with me forever.  I will always remember Georgie's voice -saying "Hi Baby - it's Georgie" when she would call.   All of us - those who were in the business years ago, those who are in the business now, and all who she touched has a heavy heart today.   I wish I could have made it to NY for the wake and funeral.    Paying my respects through this post helps some.   I will forever remember this wonderful legendary woman and surrogate Mom to all of wrestling.  Rest peacefully Georgie - say hello to Buddy, and the rest of those who we have lost.   You will be missed.

I have never had the privilege of meeting Georgie in person, but just
from talking with her through e-mail and phone calls you could always
tell how incredibly nice she was. I remember her saying how much she
loved her readers and it's obvious how much her readers loved her. The
wrestling world has lost one of its greatest fans and greatest people.
Georgie will be missed and never forgotten. My deepest condolences to
Georgie's family and friends.

The wrestling world is a little more empty today.  Those of us in the business feel the loss of Georgi as if it were family.  I have many great memories to reflect upon that will bring a smile to my face and Georgiann is a part of many of these..  She made hard days on the road and away from home a lot easier with some conversation and understanding.  I'll always see her sitting in front of the arena in Allentown or Hamburg PA. when we arrived to do TV.  She will always be in my minds eye and my heart.  Rest in peace Georgi, see you up the road.  Davey O.

I met Georgiann in the early 1980's at a wrestling show. I was there by myself and my seat was, by chance, next to hers. It was the beginning
of a friendship that lasted over 25 years.
What a great lady she was. She was always there when anyone needed her. She was the first to cheer me on when I landed the job of co editor of the Wrestling Fury magazine a few years later. She always had a shoulder to lean on and an ear to listen with. She offered her
support and was always willing to lend a hand.

Her undying devotion to the wrestling business was second to none. She loved this business and stuck beside it during all of it's ups and downs.
She kept respect alive in a sometimes, cold hearted, ruthless industry. Her friends, colleagues and fans knew we could always count on her to
report the facts and not jump to sensationalize a story. She stood by her beliefs and her values and never wavered from them. It was these
values that made her stand out amongst other journalists. It was also these values that earned her the love and respect of some many people.

Her untimely death has left a void in the wrestling business that will never by completely filled. It can't be because she was one of a kind.
I'm a better person today just for knowing her. I'll miss her but, I will keep her memory alive by smiling, even during the toughest of times.
My thoughts and prayers are with her husband George and the rest of her family. In a way, we were all "family" to Georgie. She is reunited
now with those that have gone before her and is keeping a place for those of us yet to come. She wouldn't want us to grieve for her. She was
the kind of lady who would want us to continue forward and keep smiling..That's how I will honor her memory.

WRESTLEREUNION ANNOUNCES WEEKEND DEDICATED TO GEORGIANN MAKROPOULOS' MEMORY
by Mike Johnson
Earlier today during a breakfast Q&A with a number of legends appearing at WrestleReunion in Los Angeles, Bruno Sammartino and Bill Apter announced that the weekend was being held in honor of the late Georgiann Makropoulos, who passed away this past Tuesday.  Sammartino gave a touching tribute to his friend, telling a story about how he once posed for a photo with her and Buddy Rogers, who he couldn't stand, because it was a request from her.  He joked to her at the time "You are asking a lot" but agreed.  Sammartino said he was terribly touched to learn Georgiann was laid to rest with the photo.
