…..

Hey Georgie,

just got back from the Rey Mysterio K-mart signing in Chicago scheduled from 1-3 pm this afternoon. You had to purchase either his book, or $35 in WWE merchandise to get a wristband. The flyers said that 200 wristbands would be issued and one auto limit would be strictly enforced.

I got there around 7:30am for the stores opening at 8am to get a wristband.  At least 50 people were waiting outside in line. Once the door opened everyone rushed in and grabbed their stuff and got the wristband. The manager at the registers told us that if we had a wristband we were guaranteed an auto and to just come back at 1pm.

I left and came back to the store around 9am, and got in the actual line, which at this point was at least 75 people. The line quickly wrapped through the store, and out the front doors.  K-mart had probably 10 people working security/crowd control.  As the event got closer families came up and cut the line, as they had one member holding their spot, and a wristband on each person, making the line longer.

They made a few announcements that if you did not have wristband, you wouldn't get an autograph.  This caused most of the non-wristband people to push up to the roped off area where the signing took place. There were many people on each others shoulders trying to catch a glimpse, and children climbing on the shelving and displays.

Rey was only about 15 minutes late and security did a decent job of holding the spectators back and only allowing the wristband guests to get through to Rey. He posed for pictures with everyone that wanted one for a while.  When i got to the front, They asked Rey to enforce the ONE per person policy and not to pose for pictures.  He did sign the two items i brought for me though. He was only signing "REY 619" but i'm not sure if that is all he ever signs.

Overall it was a decent event. I drove two hours to get there, and am glad i went early. I am not sure what happened after I left, with all the spillover guests. After Rey arrived, I was only in line for about an hour. I didn't bother with a picture because i was by myself, and at that point he wasn't allowed to pose anymore.
