….

Happy New Year!  2010 is here and I'm still all over the place.  Below are some details on what I am doing this weekend, just check down below.  I also had quite the 24 hour time period kind of like the movie "Planes, Trains and Automobiles"... well, minus the train.  If you'd like to hear it, let me know and I'll muster up the strength and make sure it's in the newsletter for next weekend.

Also, MMA Camp coming up again in Coldwater Michigan at my training facility.  We've had quite the reception to it thus far.  If you are interested and available in March, come on out.  It's $195 for all three days of training, yes I will be there doing the training.  Shoot me back a quick email with any questions through [email protected] or call my facility at 517-278-4908.  Make sure to make the deposit on the website of $25 to hold your spot.  I believe there are 8 participants signed up right now, and we'll only be accepting the first 20.  See you soon.

"UFC Hall of Famer coming to Culpeper"
Tim Tibbs had a question for UFC Hall of Famer Dan “The Beast” Severn the first time the two met.
“I asked him ‘if I ever become a head wrestling coach, would you want to come to Virginia and work with me?’” said the wrestling coach at Metz Middle School in Manassas. “And he said ‘sure, why not?’”
The duo met in 1996 when Tibbs was an amateur wrestler straight out of college. They’ve been traveling together putting on wrestling camps and mixed martial arts workshops ever since, and Culpeper is their next stop.
Severn will demonstrate and teach many of the grappling techniques that made him a UFC champion from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Zamora Boxing Gym.
“We’re trying to establish and promote mixed martial arts in Virginia,” Tibbs said. “And how better to do that than with an original ultimate fighter? A guy who has competed in well over 100  MMA events.”
Severn made his first appearance at the gym behind Target on Montanus Drive in July of last year, and his willingness to return to a small town like Culpeper says a lot about his character, according to Zamora Boxing Gym owner Eric Zamora.
“It’s really cool because nobody would think someone of his stature would be in Culpeper,” Zamora said. “I’m still kind of awestruck because he’s a legend in the sport but you would never know it because he’s so humble.”
About 25 young, up-and-coming mixed martial artists hung on every word that came out of Severn’s mouth and experienced plenty of hands-on training from “The Beast” himself during his last stop.
“His experience and knowledge are unbelievable,” Zamora said. “He can do it all because he’s been doing it for so long. He’s just so technical and good at what he does.”
Severn was the first world-class wrestler to venture into the cage, and during his 16-year career he has locked horns with the likes of Royce Gracie, Ken Shamrock and Tank Abbott to name a few.
Admission for the workshop is $30, and preregistration is required because space is limited.
“Everyone can expect to have a good time learning,” Tibbs said. “You’re going to be challenged and pushed, but you’ll get to see why Dan (Severn) is a Hall of Famer.”
To Register contact Eric Zamora at 540-223-5360 or [email protected]. You can also direct any questions to Zamora or contact Tibbs at 703-585-6228 or [email protected].
