In the latest edition of FREE online magazine The Wrestling Press,wrestling supremo Gabe Sapolsky admits that his inexperience at ECW
almost resulted in violence; ?I found myself stuck in between Bubba
Dudley and a bunch of stuff flying around. I ran towards Bubba's side,
thinking he would just let me by, but he didn't budge and I almost got
squashed. Afterwards in the locker room, me being pretty ignorant in
my youth, went up to Bubba and told him he should move in those
situations. Bubba looked at me for a second like he was going to kill
me, then calmed himself and said "you should never tell a wrestler
that he has to move, it is your job to move around us, and if I didn't
like you I'd smack you right now."
Also in this 78 page bumper issue John Milner contemplates the future
of ECW. Although the brand may be unfamiliar to fans of old the new
format is still an important stage of a wrestler?s career. After all,
despite the violence and blood, the original ECW was regarded as the
top arena for performers to hone their skills, and John argues that
those same values are still prevalent today: ?With the WWE?s marketing
department trumpeting ECW as ?the place to see tomorrow?s legends
today? (or some other catchy slogan), those fans disinterested in what
Raw and Smackdown has to offer might find more exciting wrestling in
ECW (which is what made the original ECW so successful in the first
place).?
