TWA 10 QUESTIONS WITH AL SNOWOne of the two main events scheduled for the Tri-State Wrestling
Alliance (TWA) Reunion Show on October 24, 2009 at the Flyers Skate Zone
in Voorhees, New Jersey, pits former WWE/ECW Star Al Snow with Head vs.
Former ECW Champion "Mr. Wrestling" Steve Corino with Rob Dimension. Al
is a veteran of twenty plus years and has spent many of those years in
the WWF/WWE. Many hardcore fans will agree that Al has always been very
underrated, as he possess a great amount of ability and talent, and is
very entertaining with his constant "companion" Head. The TWA is very
excited to have him on our Reunion Show, as we are just 2 short days
away!!
1. TWA: Al, first tell us what have you been up to lately?
SNOW: I have been very busy wrestling and executive producing several
documentaries.
2. TWA: Any talks with WWE or TNA?
SNOW: I have had a few sporadic conversations with TNA, but as of yet
nothing has come of them.
3. TWA: Do you keep up with any of the current products, WWE, TNA, ROH,
etc? Any thoughts on the current state of those companies?
SNOW: Unfortunately, I have been so busy traveling and working so
much that I haven't been able to watch any television let alone
wrestling.
4. TWA: The last reunion show you participated in was the Legends of the
Arena in Philadelphia in June 2009 for Francine. Your scheduled
opponent that night, Shane Douglas, could not make the appearance. His
replacement, Jerry Lynn, was actually a better opponent for you in many
people's opinion. The match was considered one of the best of the
night, and Jerry is actually similar to yourself in many ways, such as
you have both are a veteran of many years, and you both were considered
underrated throughout your respective careers, and you both can still
produce great matches today. Why do you think you have been able to
maintain longevity in the business?
SNOW: I have been very fortunate to be able to do what I have loved
to do for as long as I have. I have always tried to work as hard as I
can continually and never stop learning.
5. TWA: On the topic of reunion shows, the upcoming TWA Reunion features
you versus Steve Corino as one half of a double main event. When the
TWA decided to mix in non-former roster members into the Reunion Show,
we contacted you as we felt you bring a lot to the table in that you
have name value, but you are also a great performer too. Where you
aware of the TWA, that the TWA was the predecessor to ECW, and that Tod
Gordon was a financial backer to TWA before he formed Eastern
Championship Wrestling?
SNOW: Yes I was aware of Tod Gordon's extensive history in
Northeastern Pro Wrestling. There are a lot of people who owe a debt of
gratitude to Todd and his involvement.
6. TWA: One of your friends in the business, Mick Foley, had some of the
best matches of his early career in TWA against Eddie Gilbert. The
crazy, brawling style of the TWA back then was tailor-made for Mick.
Have you ever seen any of those matches or heard stories about them?
SNOW: I have heard plenty of stories but never got to see any of the
videos.
7. TWA: One aspect of your career that brought you a lot of
well-deserved notoriety was Tough Enough on MTV. Any rumblings of
resurrecting that concept? What do you think of the outlook of the
industry as a whole regarding attracting and developing new talent?
What do you think the major promotions like WWE and TNA can do to create
new stars?
SNOW: There have been a lot of rumblings off and on about
resurrecting the concept, but nothing has come of it. As far as new
talent, the number one thing would be to reinstitute the apprenticeship
aspect of the training that used to exist.
8. TWA: Do you ever think there will ever be another major surge in
popularity with a new mega-star (like a Hogan, Austin, or a Rock)?
SNOW: I am sure there will be another major star that will appear and
turn business around; it's just a matter of when, not if.
9. TWA: Back to the October 24th TWA Reunion Show, you are matched-up
against Steve Corino. Corino tells us you two had a great 48-minute
match before in the UK a few years back. What are your thoughts on
Corino and what can the fans expect?
SNOW: I am excited to work with Steve again and the fans can expect
two guys to go out there and give them money's worth.
10. TWA: Al, thanks so much for giving us some time here with these
questions and also for being a part of the TWA Reunion Show. Any
parting words or plugs?
SNOW: Thank you for the interview and please check out my myspace
