Hello Georgie,
This is Nick Mayberry, former promoter of HCW in South Florida. I am contacting about the online flurry of confusion in regards to pro-wrestling writer Scott Fishman's story on Lacey Von Erich - and HER comments about Angelina Love, in a story done for the Miami Herald.
The situation being Lacey Von Erich stating: "[Angelina] wasn't a good fit for it [The Beauitiful People] in my opinion. I thought that everybody was going to be, `Oh no. Angelina is gone,' but not one person said that. Nobody really missed her that much. I feel like I can fill the shoes that I'm supposed to. TNA told me this role was made for me, and I feel the same way. I've never met Angelina before in my life. After what some people have said, I don't know if I want to."
Lacey followed that statement with a back-peddling post on her Twitter account, saying: "I hope everyone enjoyed the show last night! Angelina Love was amazing in the beautiful people and I hope I do it justice! P.S. Don't believe rumors! I think Angelina will be missed in TNA and hope we can work together someday!"
Don't believe the RUMORS is an interesting quote, as rumors, by definition, would be a statement without known authority for it's truth. In this case, we know exactly where they quote came from - the mouth of one Lacey Von Erich. A RUMOR would be what is circulating online, saying TNA forced her to post that - and also to call Angelina and apologize to her herself. That is a RUMOR; unless of course, she confirms that.
I have known Scott for over 6 years now, and every single story he covers - from the indies to WWE & TNA - he covers in an extremely unbiased, professional manner. He takes great pride in his work - and is truly a journalist that consistently shows respect for the business and its personalities. This story is no exception. NEVER has there been an issue with his reporting. From covering Bret Hart, to Hulk Hogan, to Terry Funk, to Lacey Von Erich.
Many internet sites have speculated that the comment was embellished or fabricated, but it was actually stated word-for-word. I applaud Scott for handling this in such a professional manner. I am not writing this statement on his behalf or with his prior knowledge, but rather as someone who went through this myself many years back. I feel that unfair and unjust comments need to be quelled - and facts need to be stated; as the person who is actually being hurt by a RUMOR is the one telling the truth.
Best Regards,
Nick Mayberry - HCW
