WSU 8/14 Results From Belleville, NJ
On Friday night, August 14th, WSU made history, as we launched our new Spirit Championship Division. The WSU Spirit Championship is a brand new championship in WSU to recognize all the up and comers in WSU. It is the goal of the WSU board of directors to have this division blossom the careers of our newer stars and hopefully propel them to our WSU World Championship division. This title will feature matches with the women with the most passion, determination and SPIRIT to get to the next level and have their careers ascended.
The tournament wasn't your traditional 8-woman single elimination tournament. To shake things up, 6 women entered the tournament. The tournament featured three single round matches, with the three winners meeting up in a triple threat elimination match to determine the first ever WSU Spirit Champion.
If that wasn't enough, WSU also presented a Golden Trios Tag Team Match, as WSU Champion Mercedes Martinez teamed up with WSU Tag Team Champions, Alicia & Brooke Carter as they took on former champion Angel Orsini and #1 Tag Team Title contenders, Jessicka Havok & Hailey Hatred.
Here are the results of this special show, where WSU teamed up with our big brother promotion, National Wrestling Superstars (NWS).
In tournament matches:
FIRST ROUND
Jana d. Jennifer Cruz via the Jana-Vice (Front face lock)
Jana d. Jennifer Cruz via the Jana-Vice (Front face lock)
Latasha d. Lea Morrison after a swinging neckbreaker.
Amber vs Roxxie Cotton went to a 10-minute time limit draw. NWS Commissioner Gino Moore couldn't grant this match an additional 5 minutes which the crowd wanted, so he ruled that since both of these women deserved to be winners, as a result of the draw, both advanced into the finals of the Spirit Championship Tournament!
FINAL ROUND TO DETERMINE THE FIRST EVER SPIRIT CHAMPION
Fatal-Four-Way Elimination Match
Latasha d. Jana, Amber & Roxxie Cotton to become the first ever WSU Spirit Champion
Fatal-Four-Way Elimination Match
Latasha d. Jana, Amber & Roxxie Cotton to become the first ever WSU Spirit Champion
This was a wild match, that really showed the spirit of the competitors involved. After being attacked by Jana after her first round match with a pool cue, Latasha came into this match limping and hurting, but her spirit wasn't broken.
Jana played things smooth and wouldn't tag into the match, as she picked her spots. Jana would go on to tap out Roxxie Cotton & Amber with her Jana-Vice, as the Jana-Vice claimed three victims in this tournament.
With Latasha having a bad wheel, Jana picked apart the wounded limb like a wolf on a rare steak. However, Jana could never get the Jana-Vice locked in on Latasha. Out of no-where, Latasha rolled-up Jana and shocked the WSU world & Belleville, NJ to win the championship! After feuding for nearly a year, Latasha got her first win over her former tag team partner-turned arch-enemy, Jana!
Jana wasn't happy with the result and immediately tried to attack Latasha. Latasha was able to thwart Jana's attack. The feud between the former Soul Sister tag team is far from over, and the champion stated that she wanted to be a fighting champion and challenged Jana to a match next week at WSU's 8/22 Boonton event!
Folks, this is not a match you want to miss, as Jana & Latasha have taken this rivalry to a new level and with gold on the line, the stakes are even higher.
In the Golden Trios Match Angel Orsini pinned Brooke Carter after a "Kiss of Death" (flatliner) at the 20 minute mark
This match had alot of developments going on, as the Orsini/Martinez feud has been historic, producing the longest match ever in womens wrestling history. With Carter/Alicia being marked targets due to having the WSU Tag Team Championships, both Jessicka Havok & Hailey Hatred looked to get an advantage over their possible opponents on 8/22. However, if Carter/Alicia want to see Hatred/Havok on 8/22, they must get by Rain/Angel Orsini on the first taping of the double dvd taping event on 8/22.

Orsini has forged an alliance with Rain. In a role reversal from earlier this year, it is now Orsini doing Rain's dirty work, in a bid to get a WSU Championship Rematch. As a result of the stipulation during the Iron Woman Match, Orsini can not get a WSU World Title match until Martinez's reign is over. However, Rain has promised Orsini that if Orsini will help her take over WSU by ultimately winning the WSU World Title, then Orsini will get first crack at the belt.
While Orsini did her job by winning the match, what happened afterwards is something Rain nor anyone would expect!
With the match over, Jessicka Havok & Hailey Hatred showed their plans for domination in WSU by attacking the WSU Worlds Women Champion, Mercedes Martinez. However, Orsini broke up the attack and actually saved her rival for the past two years. Due to the chaotic situation and immense intensity, NWS Commissioner (and WSU liason) Gino Moore ruled that on 8/21 in Union, NJ, Mercedes Martinez will defend the WSU Championship in a triple threat match against Jessicka Havok & Hailey Hatred! Since Orsini can not get a title match and was the voice of reason, even if it was lapse of her normal judgment, Gino Moore appointed Orsini as special guest referee!!!
The stakes, the fury, the passion, the spirit and quest to become the best is at an all-time high in WSU. If you haven't checked out WSU, make sure to check out WSUWrestling.com for our latest DVDs and event information, as the talent is at an all-time high and the emotional drive of our stars for #1 status and championship gold has never been higher.
Also taking place on the event, was a special NWS "Inter-Gender" match, which saw WSU "Diva" Rick Cataldo defeating Manny Moore. Cataldo stated to WSUWrestling.com that he was sickened to see Roxxie Cotton make the finals of the WSU Spirit Championship Tournament and wants to break Cotton once and for all.
WSU returns on 8/22 with a huge double DVD taping. Check out WSUWrestling.com for complete event details.
