I attended the Hulk Hogan Fan Appreciation Day in Bridgeview IL at Toyota Park today. I did not attend the wrestling show after the autograph session, this update will just be about the autograph session.
Hogan was great. He signed a wrestling ring for me "Hollywood Hulk Hogan" and put "NWO 4 Life" and "2 sweet" under it. He took a picture with my 19 month old son and held him for the picture. Really great time. Took 4 hours of standing in line but it was all worth it.
Then to make things even better, in a different room there were "Legends" there signing autographs. Greg Valentine, Brutus Beefcake, Nasty Boys, Tito Santana (who wasn't on the original autograph session - great surprise), and Jimmy Hart. All of these guys were great. Very Friendly, would put HOF on things, and would take pictures with everyone.
The reason I an writing this update is because of the promotional flIers (posted on numerous website including Wrestlingfigs.com) that said "all of the Legends would be free autographs". It even said "all 6 legends for $99" (I have copied the ad from one of the websites at the bottom of this email). Each wrestler was charging $10 per item. PLEASE BELIEVE ME...that I am not complaining about paying $10 for HOF'ers and future HOF'ers and not holding Wrestlingfigs.com responsible, but I thought the promoter for this event really had false advertisement listed on your website and put these wrestlers in an awkward situation.
There were Toyota Park employees scanning the $99 tickets to get in for Hogan, but the "Legends" were collecting the money THEMSELVES. Greg Valentine (HOF 2004) went into his pocket to make change for me after he signed my item. If the promoter would have listed that the "Legends" would have been $10 each I still think the same amount of people would have went for their autographs. It just felt like the wrestlers were "begging" for money when they should be respected for being the "Legends" that they really are. I don't think that many fans had a problem with paying, but it's just not what was advertised and fans were caught off-guard.
I love this website and because of you, my wrestling autograph collection has grown so much since I found this website last year. I do not know who the promoter for this event was, but the next time they try to post something on your website, I would suggest they follow through on what they tell you so they don't ruin your reputation and all of your hard work that you put in for your website.
All in all, this was a great day and well worth the money and time. But the promoter should be ashamed of themselves for disprespecting the "Legends".
