Big Time Heat up in Quincy, MA

By: Chris Sullivan

Big Time Wrestling invades the Quincy, MA National Guard Armory (1000 Hancock Street), on Friday night, June 19.  Doors will open at 6pm and the first match will begin at 8pm.  Starting 6pm till 8pm will be a very special autograph session with all the wrestlers from the evening’s event.  This is a great chance for the fans to meet many wrestling legends and future stars.

Big Time Wrestling is a locally run independent wrestling federation run by local wrestling legend Terry Allen.  Big Time Wrestling runs events all over Massachusetts and in parts of New England.  Using top worldwide known wrestling stars and many local wrestlers Big Time Wrestling has landed a television show that airs on MyTV every Friday night at 12 midnight.

The wrestling event on June 19 is a special fundraiser for the Quincy Army’s Family Support Group.  The fund is set up for the families of soldiers in the Quincy area.  Money is given to the family if a soldier is hurt or killed in the line of duty.  Funds are also given to family to help them move if they are reassigned to a different area.

Wrestlers from all over New England will be appearing on this special event for the troops of Quincy, MA.  Also in attendance will be a number of wrestling greats that have competed all over the world for the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), World Championship Wrestling (WCW), and Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW).

Wrestling icon “Rowdy” Roddy Piper will be headlining the star-studded event on June 19.   Roddy Piper has competed all over the world and for every major wrestling organization.  WWE, WCW, NWA and TNA have been home to the “Rowdy One” at one time.  Some of the wrestling titles Piper has held include; WWE Intercontinental Championship, WWE Tag Team Championship (with Ric Flair), WCW US Championship, NWA Television Championship, and many others.  In the early 1980’s, Vince McMahon had a new vision of what pro wrestling should be.  Mr. McMahon started the craze of sports entertainment and his main good guy was Hulk Hogan.  For any good guy to be called great he needs a villain.  Batman had the Joker, Superman had Lex Luthor, and Hulk Hogan had “Rowdy” Roddy Piper.  The Hogan vs. Piper feud went on for years and was the main event for the very first WrestleMania.  In the mid 1980’s Roddy Piper left wrestling to become a movie star.  Piper would make rare appearances in the WWE throughout the 90’s.  In 1996 Piper returned to wrestling for WCW and continued his feud with Hulk Hogan.  Since 2000, Roddy Piper had made brief runs in the WWE.  Piper would face new stars such as Randy Orton, Edge, and Mr. Kennedy on different WWE runs.

Roddy Piper is a turn wrestling great, but is best known for his legendary “Piper’s Pits”.   Piper would insult many greats and be able to talk a crowd into a building.  On June 19, Roddy Piper will be doing the real “Piper’s Pit” at the Quincy Armory.  Not only will the fans be able to watch Roddy Piper, but he will also be part of the autograph session that will be from 6pm till 8pm.

Former WWE and ECW star Spike Dudley returns to Quincy.  Spike Dudley is a multi-time WWE Hardcore Champion and is a multi-time ECW Tag Team Champion (with Balls Mahoney).   Spike Dudley is far from a heavyweight wrestler, but has a heart that will never quit.  Spending most of his ECW and WWE career at less than 200 pounds it would not stop him from going against many of biggest (in size and in fame) wrestlers.  Competing against super heavyweights like Bam Bam Bigelow, Psycho Sid, Mike Awesome, Kane, The Big Show and others showed the world his “never quit” mindset.  Facing off with superstars like Steve Austin, Eddy Guerrero, Kevin Nash, Rey Mysterio, and The Dudley Boys made him a star.  Spike Dudley is not afraid to put his body on the line to entertain the fans, on his way to a victory.  Spike Dudley’s use of tables in his matches is like no other.  On Friday, June 19 Spike Dudley will be part of the meet and greet before the event, and then he will take on all comers in the ring.

Former ECW Champion Justin Credible will be on hand to meet and greet the fans from 6 to 8pm on June 19.  Justin Credible is a worldwide star from ECW and the WWE.  The current Big Time Wrestling Champion, Justin is no stranger to championship belts.  Being a multi-time WWE Hardcore Champion, multi-time ECW Tag Team Champion (with Lance Storm), and former ECW Champion, Justin Credible has taken on all comes for whatever title he is holding.  In the Original ECW, Justin feuded against many hardcore legends like the Sandman, Tommy Dreamer, Shane Douglas, and Raven.  After the closing of ECW, Justin joined up with old friend X-Pac and formed X-Factor in the WWE.  Along with X-Pac and Albert, Justin’s new group began to take over the WWE scene.  The Dudley Boys, the Hardy Boys, Too Cool, and many other teams fell to X-Factor.  Either in normal tag team matches or 6 men tag X-Factor had the upper hand.  After members of the group won individual title the team split.  Justin would join the Alliance of WCW and ECW to feud with top stars of the WWE.  After leaving the WWE he would continue to wrestle with different groups.  In 2006, Justin Credible would rejoin the ranks of the WWE under the banner of the new ECW.  Justin run in the new ECW may have been short, but his following grow.  In Big Time Wrestling, Justin would compete against Rick Fuller, Spike Dudley, and Danny Davis.  Finally with Ric Flair as the special referee, Justin Credible would defeat John Walters for the Big Time Wrestling Heavyweight Title.

All ready signed as the main event will be a special tag team match which will feature two ECW originals against two of the best from New England.  The Hardcore Alliance of Justin Credible and Spike Dudley will square off against John Cena Sr.’s pairing of “Hurricane” John Walters and “Big” Rick Fuller.  The wrestling fans of Quincy are all too familiar with Walters and Fuller.  Rick Fuller is a former WCW star and is a current wrestler for New Japan Pro Wrestling.  John Walters is one of the best technical wrestlers to ever leave the late great Killer Kowalski Wrestling School.  On June 19, these four men will face off in a match that must have a winner.  Cena’s forces have done everything to take Justin Credible out of Big Time Wrestling and now teaming with Spike Dudley, the sides are now even.

Advance tickets are on sale at the Quincy Ticket Center (on Hancock Street) and at the Beale Street Papa Gino’s.  Tickets can also be ordered online at the official Big Time Wrestling website (www.Big-Time-Wrestling.com).  Event tickets start at only $15 for general admission.  Special V.I.P tickets on available at www.Big-Time-Wrestling.com, which include a front row seat and a picture with and an autograph from “Rowdy” Roddy Piper.

Friday night, June 19 will be a great night for any wrestling fan.  Fans young and young at heart all know the name “Rowdy” Roddy Piper.  This is the first time the “Hot Rod” has been in Quincy and it is a not to miss event.  From 6pm till 8pm Roddy Piper, along with many others will be signing meeting the fans on hand so come early and meet a true legend.

Big Time Wrestling is looking forward to seeing all the wrestling fans in the South Shore at the National Guard Armory for this star-studded charity event for the brave men and women of the Armed Forces.  For more information on this event please visit www.Big-time-wrestling.com.
