SATURDAY 5/16 IN MANVILLE, NJ….

NWS' Biggest Show Of The Year, The Chris Candido Memorial Jersey J-Cup Tournament, This Saturday 5/16 In Manville, NJ

If you only attend a few, or even only one, pro wrestling event this year, this coming Saturday night May 16th should be at the top of your list, as National Wrestling Superstars returns to its most popular central Jersey venue, the Manville, NJ VFW Hall, 600 Washington Avenue (just off Main Street, minutes from Routes 28 and 287), for its biggest show of the year, the 2009 Chris Candido Memorial Jersey J-Cup Tournament, with all the action getting under way at 7:35pm.

Chris Candido was a veteran superstar of the WWE (best remembered as Skip of the Body-Donna's), WCW, ECW, and TNA, as well as a fixture in NWS and other independent wrestling promotions across the country. Besides being one of the most talented wrestlers around, he was one of the most beloved and admired, and his tragic passing four years ago is still mourned by all those who knew him. NWS inherited the promotional rights to the J-Cup Tournament in the same year as Chris' passing, and immediately renamed the tournament to honor the memory of their good friend.

The J-Cup Tournament has been independent pro wrestling's biggest event for well over a decade, a one-night single-elimination tournament featuring some of the best cruiserweight and junior heavyweight wrestlers around, competing for the trophy, the glory, and the stepping-stone to greatness that has occurred for many of its past winners.
This year, a field of 16 of the area's finest will step into the ring, including TNA Wrestling TV star and Newark area native "Black Machismo" Jay Lethal. Four high-flying luchadors from Mexico's Chikara Wrestling will enter the field, Fright-Mare, Ophidian, Omasis, and Golden Lynx. NWS' own Cruiserweight Champion Mighty Mikey Pacifica will enter the tournament, along with other NWS cruiserweight contenders J.D. Smoothie, Joseph Janella, "G.Q." Myke Quest, Nicky Oceans, and Corvis Fear, and other top area stars such as Devon Moore, Archadia, Damian Adams, Aaron Arbo, and Unbreakable Andy.

But, balancing out the scales, the super-heavyweight wrestlers will also have a showcase of their own that night, as ten of them will compete in an Over-The-Top-Rope Battle Royal, including ECW original John "Balls" Mahoney. The winner of the battle royal will not get a trophy, however, but something equally as auspicious... he will have the opportunity to wrestle WWE RAW TV veteran Snitsky in a "Loser Gets Put Through A Door" Match later that same evening.

This show is guaranteed to sell out fast, so get your tickets early, and at only $19 for adults and $17 for kids and seniors, get your tickets for the entire family. Tickets are available by calling the NWS box office at (732) 888-1704. All major credit cards are accepted, and group rates are available for groups of ten or more. Remaining seats, if any, will go on sale at the door one hour before bell time.
