SIGNAMANIA IV REPORT & PHOTOS

…..

When it comes to conventions, I might be called somewhat compulsive.  I have a lot of items, want them signed in a particular way, bring my own pens, have multiple suitcases and bags, etc.  This usually leads to chaos when I'm on the superticket line, paint pens leaking and breaking in my pockets, and belts and figures flying in all directions.  Thankfully, chaos at Signamania was kept to a minimum, thanks in no small part to top-notch organization and an excellent staff.

Superticket Guests:

 Dusty Rhodes

What can I say?  Dusty was awesome, and exceeded all expectations.  After my first photo didn't come out, I told Big Dust, and he replied, "Well if you look like that, what do you expect?"  He then laughed and grabbed me for another pic.  I had him sign my NWA world title, already signed by Harley Race, Terry Funk, Ric Flair, and Tommy Rich.

  Road Dogg and Billy Gunn

These guys were very nice and kept an air of levity in the room.  I didn't realize Billy Gunn was still so huge.  I had them each sign my white IC title in green paint, and took a pic with the DX pose.

My white IC title, signed by Ricky Steamboat, Shawn Michaels, Razor Ramon, The Mountie, Jeff Jarrett, Booker T, Greg Valentine, Tito Santana, Chris Jericho, Ric Flair, Chyna, Jeff Hardy, Ultimate Warrior, Kurt Angle, Godfather, Lance Storm, Don Muraco, Roddy Piper, Marty Jannetty, Bret Hart, Road Dogg, and Billy Gunn

  Midnight Express

Eaton and Condrey were both friendly, but pretty quiet.  I had them sign my newly purchased Midnight Express book.

 Colin Delaney

Colin was very friendly, and I was glad he was booked so I could avoid paying vendor fees at LOTR.  He marked out over my 1/500 figure (I was the first of the day to get one signed) and jokingly tried to steal it.  After signing it, he drew a bunch of arrows on the plastic pointing at the painted belt in the package.

  Bob Holly

Holly was nice, but quiet.  He was awkward about signing his classic figure, and seemed to sign them in different ways.  For reference, he signed mine "Hardcore Holly Bob Holly"

 Trevor Murdoch

I don't really follow current wrestling, so I am not terribly sure who Trevor Murdoch is, but I had him sign my encyclopedia.  He was cordial, but quiet.

   Block 2

 Hart Foundation

Both of these guys were pretty much how they always are: friendly, but somewhat detached.  Neidhart marked out for my pink paint pen, and really made sure to sign nicely for me (for once!).  The Neidhart sig on the pink 2-pack below is from K&S show, where I used a different pink marker.  It looks better in person, but doesn't look nearly as good as the new pink pen I have.  I also got Bret on my IC belt in pink.

  Team 3D & Spike

After TNA FanFest, I didn't have anything for Bubba or D-Von.  I got Spike to sign his classic figure.  All 3 were pretty nice.  I got a pic from fanfest holding the IWGP belts (which was awesome), so it was nice to have a pic of them holding the TNA belts.

 Matt Borne

Matt was very friendly and I had him sign an original Doink figure I picked up for a very reasonable price at the Franklin Square Video booth.  I forgot that my Evil Doink figure was in storage, so I had to go into damage control mode.

  Vicious and Delicious

Scott Norton lived up to all expectations, and Buff is, as always, a very friendly guest.  Norton popped for my nWo poster, remarking "Now THIS is a poster," before signing it in white paint.  The march towards completion continues. Buff signed his classic with a nice inscription.

My nWo poster, signed by Michael Wallstreet, Ted Dibiase, Nick Patrick, Disco Inferno, Scott Hall, Kevin Nash, The Disciple, Dennis Rodman, Bret Hart, Scott Steiner, Eric Bischoff, Jeff Jarrett, Hollywood Hogan, Midajah, Buff Bagwell, and Scott Norton

 Vendor Guests:

 Lanny Poffo

Lanny was very friendly.  After signing his classic with my red paint pen, he said he was definitely ordering some to use when signing items for his web site.  "These are very serious pens, for a serious collector," he said.  When taking our photo op, he cautioned me against wearing his graduation cap, saying that "a few too many people have worn this thing for anyone to be comfortable wearing it."  Moments after I completed my photo op, I saw class316 wearing the cap, smiling proudly.

  James E. Cornette

Jim was a huge want for me, since I can't make it to Charlotte and I'm a big fan of his.  He took a great photo op with the tennis racket, and happily signed his new Midnight Express book (above).

 Jimmy Hart

As usual, Jimmy Hart was awesome, and I was genuinely surprised by the lines he and the Nasty Boys drew all morning.  Hopefully, that means they will be booked on another superticket in the future, as I have plenty more items for them to sign.  I had Jimmy sign my Hart Foundation in pink, as pictured above.  He also loved the pink pen.

  Rock and Roll Express

Both were very nice guys, and they signed their classic 2-pack without reservation or personalization.  I tested my new purple opaque paint pen with this one, and got excellent results.

 "Cowboy" Bill Watts

This was a mixed bag.  Bill was more interested in proselytizing than signing for his fans, and this became irritating.  I don’t go to wrestling conventions for preaching.

 Armando Estrada

Armando is a super nice guy, but since I was running low on funds, I opted for only a photo op.  It came out great due to the excellent setup by his vendor, IVPVideos.com.

Unfortunately, I missed out on Gangrel and Scotty 2 Hotty due to time constraints.  From what I saw, both were extremely pleasant towards their fans.  Gangrel looked great in gimmick, too.

Overall, I had an outstanding convention experience.  Thanks to Marc and George for running a great outfit, along with vendors K&S, IVPVideos.com, and Franklin Square Video for also running excellent booths.
