A SUN SPORT EXCLUSIVE

PAUL HEYMAN BLOGS ABOUT DRAGON GATE VS ROH, PLUS AN EMOTIONAL PERSONAL NOTE!

The Mad Scientist has returned!
Paul Heyman, the former ECW Owner and Head Writer for WWE Smackdown has returned with a stunning blog about the upcoming promotional battle in Philadelphia featuring Ring of Honor and the brand new Dragon Gate USA group.

Heyman also talks about "The Arena,"
formerly The ECW Arena, which will be the home of both promotions. He discusses Mark Cuban's HDNet, Ric Flair's on-air endorsement of ROH, HDNet's use of former WWE writer Dave Lagana, and Heyman's former protege Gabe Sapolsky being named Vice President of Dragon Gate USA.

Key excerpt:

There's obviously bad blood between ROH and its former head writer, and Sapolsky threw himself right into the battle by booking Dragon Gate USA's debut show not in New York, not in Chicago, not in Miami, not in Los Angeles. Nope. Want to take a guess?

BINGO!

Sapolsky booked the 1st show, scheduled for July 25th, in Philadelphia.

South Philadelphia, to be exact. Corner of Swanson and Ritner. Yup, Dragon Gate USA is going to debut at The Arena.

So now Philadelphia is about to become the battle ground for the niche promotions.

It's the seven-year old ROH promotion, trying to market itself as the "action alternative," offer itself as a "quality product," and establish itself as a legit player through its association not only with Mark Cuban and HDNet, but also by being endorsed by Ric Flair himself.

And it's the young, hot Dragon Gate promotion, looking to expand from its Japanese base, hoping to create a reputation as being the most exciting brand available to the pro wrestling consumer anywhere on the planet.

Heyman also wrote a personal note at the bottom of the blog, explaining how today (April 15th) is the 64th Anniversary of the liberation of the Bergen Belsen Death Camp. Heyman, whose mother was a Holocaust survivor,  wrote:

As many of you know, my Mother, Sulamita Heyman passed away on Feburary 27th, and I've taken some time off before returning to writing blogs here on The Sun.

Today, April 15th, is the anniversary of the liberation of the Bergen Belsen death camp. Moreso than her birthday, April 15 was the most important day of the year to my mother.

It was her day of remembrance, an opportunity to show the world she had survived the worst atrocity in modern history.

Whenever my mother would tell the story of that day, she never forgot to mention that Bergen Belsen was liberated by the British 11th Armoured Division. My mother, whose immediate family had been killed, was suffering from Typhus and had maybe days to live.

It brings me and my family great comfort to return to the Sun on the anniversary of the Liberation.

If for nothing else, it gives me the chance to tell the story, and to make mention of the great contributions that courageous group of British soldiers made to history.

My mother never forgot you...and I assure you, for as long as I live, I will be here to tell of the great deed that you committed exactly 64 years ago today.

It's truly a fascinating blog, obviously his most powerful to date. Please alert your readers to this amazing post, along with the link for them to read the blog in its entirety:
