keep them coming…….
Georgie:
I am writing you this email in response to some of the emails you posted regarding Survivor Series, John Cena and his new tshirt. First and foremost, I am not a huge Cena fan. I used to love Cena when he was doing the over the top rap gimmick and had B Squared by his side. But since the ultra babyface turn and Hogan like push, he has fallen from my favorites. The point of this email is that people love to complain about Cena. They hate how hard he is pushed. They think he sucks as a wrestler. He gets booed. Etc, etc. Fact of the matter is the internet community is the minority on this. Fact is the WWE and Vince McMahon do listen to the fans and the fans decide who is going to be on top. And the fans have decided that JOHN CENA should be on top. WWE is a business. Their object isnt just entertainment. They have an obligation to their shareholders to produce profit. John Cena is one of the highest all time merchandise producing performers in the WWE's history. Tshirts, hats, dog tags, posters, action figures, etc. These things drive revenue.....they drive profit. The more the fans buy his tshirts or his dvds or his other stuff, the harder the WWE is gonna push him. Just because a mass majority of Cena's entrances are met with boos, means almost nothing. Its certainly confusing to the average fan. But the fact of the matter is young adult males have the loudest voices in the arenas and usually travel in packs, much like wolves. LOL!!! Their voices carry and they carry over the young children and even older folks who adore John Cena. The young adult male is buying Edge and Orton merchandise, because they feel its more cutting edge, pardon the pun. But they dont buy like the kids. Parents flood children with all sorts of merchandise. When they come to the arena, they dont buy a tshirt. They buy a tshirt, a poster, a dvd, an action figure, the dog tags and the cap. The average young adult male is purchasing 1 or 2 items. Just look at WWE.com. You consistantly see Cena, HHH, DX, HBK, Rey, Punk, etc. selling the most merchandise. There is more to choose from and more is being sold. After a decade plus, we are finally getting an Edge dvd. Where we have had several Rey dvds and Edge has been there longer. Its about bottom line dollars. And face it......John Cena is making the bottom line larger.
And lets also not forget the WWE's new PG approach. John Cena epitomizes PG. He is a champion of good with pure intentions. Good must overcome evil.....a basic 1980's story telling. The WWE has been driving this direction for sometime now and who better than John Cena to captain that ship. If the WWE was in the attitude era and Cena was doing a different gimmick, he would be adored by the internet community. But then again, at some point the IWC always turns on success. Look at CM Punk. He was the adopted son of the IWC. He signs with the E......loses a few of the IWC. He jobs out for the ECW title and IWC is an uproar. He finally wins and the IWC is happy. But then he starts to get a push. So the IWC rebels. When mainstream wrestling adopts them, the IWC rebels. Classic IWC.
As far as Cena's new shirt is concerned......its a throwback. It isnt the first time that Cena has had a shirt tweaking a wrestling company's former logo. In fact I own the WWF he used to have. It isnt due to a lack of creativeness. But its DUE to creativeness. I see no issue with this. Besides, Vince does own the rights to that logo. Funny how Cena is being ripped about this and Orton was embraced about his RKO shirt that was a take off the nWo logo.
If anything the IWC should be angry about how Edge won the title. Not the "ultimate opportunist" portion, but the fact that he is aligned with Vickie. As this makes ZERO SENSE. But that's a topic for a different time. Thanks Georgie for the freedom forum to vent.
Peace,
Jay aka CM Showstopper From Wfigs Forums

What I just can't believe is how JEFF HARDY has been on such a TEAR lately... I mean, he pinned the UNDERTAKER cleanly on SD! 2 weeks ago.... HE PINNED UNDERTAKER (which is something that NOBODY ever does)..... and then he triumphs over HGH this week.... only to have them shorthand him and put the "VICKIE TORMENTOR" over and have VICKIE bring EDGE back like he didn't harass nor torment her nor USE HER TO GET TO THE CHAMPIONSHIP BEFORE!!..... MAJOR inconsistency with storyline and at no point was EDGE officially "introduced" as a combatant in the match, so it really does not (and should not) legally stand. CENA SHIRT--- A CRAPS ON WHAT WAS THE AWA. Not cool. Now that we've elected our first African-American to Presidency, it would be wise of Vince to declare his first African-American WORLD CHAMPION.... (but whom does he have????) From Carlos from Westchester * * * * * * * * * Just wanted to express a few opinions about the new John Cena shirt. I don't understand what the big deal is. Its a simple parody of another logo. I would understand the hate on it, if Verne was still running the AWA strong. Its a clever take on another logo. I didn't see or hear of anyone being upset when Orton had the RKO shirt like the nWo logo or even when Cena had a classic Wrestlemania logo saying Word Life instead. I honestly don't think any disrespect was intended and for younger or uneducated, who don't understand the parody, might learn about the AWA. Is that so bad? Dave Kronus * * * * * * * * A few fans have asked me to comment on WWE and RAW, I'm sorry at this time I can't, I didn't even watch it this week. I am a huge Dancing with the Stars fan, and finals are this week. After it's over, I forget to change to Raw. What I need is Time Warner Cable to finally agree to show us WWE 24/7, then I would be happy again. Would love to hear your opinions.... Georgie [email protected] |
