NWS Brick, NJ 10/4 Results: Former ECW Icons Raven & Justin Credible Battle Hardcore-Style, WSU Champion Angel Orsini vs. Former WWE Smackdown Diva Cherry, Plus NWA Legend Ox Baker, Rhett Titus, Myke Quest & More
National Wrestling Superstars returned to its favorite Jersey Shore venue, the Brick, NJ Elks Lodge. This venue has been the site of eight consecutive sellout crowds, but the tough economic times have taken their toll even on this popular venue. Still NWS was grateful for the approximately 250 fans who came out to see the action, and the crowd made up for their lower numbers with their endless enthusiasm.
- Roxxie Cotton (with "love slave" A.C. Kewl) defeated Princess Jana. Jana's power advantage kept her on top of Roxxie for most of the match, and after hitting a facebuster, she seemed to be on her way to victory, but Kewl distracted the referee from counting the pinfall, long enough for Roxxie to roll up Jana from behind with a handful of tights and get the 1-2-3.
- Myke "G.Q." Quest (with Gigalo Joe Jones & "Mr. Motion" Shane Taylor) defeated Rhett "The Threat" Titus to become the *NEW* NWS Jersey Shore Champion. Quest was not happy to have Jones & Taylor in his corner, claiming NWS management had contractually forced him to have them there, and to their dismay shook hands with Titus and promised a tough but fair fight. The two tore into each other, with several near-falls by both competitors, keeping the fans on the edge of their seats. Titus eventually knocked out Quest with a devastating drop kick and was preparing to finish him off when Gigalo Jones jumped onto the ring apron. While the referee was trying to remove Jones, Taylor leaped into the ring, leveled Titus with a superkick, and dragged a semi-conscious Quest on top of Titus. The referee turned around, saw the cover, and counted 1-2-3 for Quest. A dazed and confused Quest walked out of the ring as the new NWS Jersey Shore Champion, leaving an angry Titus in the ring.
- In a six-man tag-team match, Slayer & Mikey Pacifica & Nikko The Monkey Man (with NWA legend Ox Baker) defeated "Mr. Motion" Shane Taylor & Corvis Fear & "Hockey Goon" Rocco Dorsey (with Gigalo Joe Jones). Rocco took the microphone and called this match "three wrestlers (us) versus three... whatever you guys are...", including several remarks about Ox Baker's age. The three "whatevers", however, kept their opponents off balance with their unpredictable styles, and a flying body press from Nikko onto Rocco scored the pinfall victory. Ox Baker even managed a few shots on the opponents as they left the ring in disarray.
- Nicky Oceans (with "Mr. Motion" Shane Taylor) defeated The Rogue to capture the vacant NWS Junior Heavyweight Title. Before the match, Commissioner Moore ruled that the winner and new champion must make their first title defense anytime and any place that the Commissioner dictates. Both men agreed, and the match was on. Lots of hard-hitting by both men kept the crowd on the edge of their seats. After a pair of Atomic Drops and a Piledriver by Rogue, it seems he had the match won, but then Rocco Dorsey came out to ringside to distract the referee, and Shane Taylor once again interjected his size-thirteen boots into the match, leveling Rogue with a superkick. Oceans covered Rogue as the referee counted 1-2-3, and Oceans celebrated with Taylor and Rocco as the new NWS Junior Heavyweight Champion.
- Rhett Titus came out to the ring while Oceans and his friends were still celebrating at ringside, and challenged Oceans to a match for his new title. Oceans declined, saying he had already wrestled tonight. As he tried to leave, Commissioner Moore came out and blocked his way, and announced he was invoking the "anytime, any place" title defense stipulation, saying now is the time and Rhett Titus is the opponent. This led to...
- Rhett "The Threat" Titus defeated Nicky Oceans to become the *NEW* NWS Junior Heavyweight Champion. As security led Shane Taylor & Rocco Dorsey to the back, Titus pulled Oceans back into the ring and the match was on. A weary Oceans was no match for Titus, but he put up a good fight nonetheless. But a bulldog from Titus sealed the deal, and got him the three-count, making him the new NWS Junior Heavyweight Champion. The celebration was short-lived however, as Rocco Dorsey and Shane Taylor ran into the ring and attacked Titus. The attack was halted by the sudden arrival of ECW hardcore legend Justin Credible, who helped Titus to his feet, but then promptly leveled him with his Singapore Cane and joined in the renewed beatdown with Dorsey and Taylor. But then another former ECW hardcore legend, in the form of Justin's opponent later that night, Raven, came to the ring and chased away Justin and his new friends.
- A.C. Kewl (with Roxxie Cotton) defeated J.D. Smoothie. This was a return grudge match from Seaside Heights, and the two former partners tore into each other. In the end, it was Kewl coming out on top over Smoothie (admittedly with the help of a timely distraction from Roxxie) via a Rock Bottom and a 1-2-3 pinfall. An enraged Smoothie seized the microphone and challenged both Kewl and Roxxie to an inter-gender tag-team match against him and his partner, who also wanted payback against Roxxie, Princess Jana. Commissioner Moore announced that this match would take place here at Brick in January.
- WSU Champion Angel Orsini retained her title by defeating former WWE Smackdown diva Cherry. Cherry, a native of New Jersey and a former NWS woman star herself, was warmly received by the crowd, but not by Angel. The two ladies fought back and forth, until a frustrated Angel threw Cherry right into a corner where the referee was standing, knocking him cold. Cherry DDT'd Angel and slapped a Crossface submission hold on Angel, but there was no referee to make the count. While Cherry tried to awaken the referee, Angel seized her WSU title belt and leveled Cherry with it, knocking her cold as the referee awoke and counted 1-2-3 for Angel. An angry Cherry demanded a rematch. Commissioner Moore announced that this match would take place at NWS' show in Red Bank next month.
- In a Hardcore Brawl between former ECW icons, Raven defeated Justin Credible. Justin took the microphone and challenged Raven to make the match a hardcore brawl. Raven called Justin an idiot for challenging Raven to a "Raven's Rules" match, and happily agreed. The two battled in and out of the ring, using chairs and a box of Singapore Canes originally being sold as souvenirs. In the end, Raven drop-toe-hold'ed Justin onto a chair, and then hit his Evenflow DDT for the 1-2-3 victory. sending the crowd home happy.
NWS returns to action the next weekend with another double shot. Friday night October 10th, NWS teams up with WSU for a joint show at the Bergenfield, NJ VFW Hall. Then on Saturday night October 11th, NWS returns to the site of the annual J-Cup Classic, the Manville, NJ VFW Hall.
