This years Ted Petty Invitational is just around the corner as it will be here in just a little over two more weeks.
The TPI is the biggest independent wrestling tournament in the United States every year. It was renamed from the Sweet Science 16 to the TPI in honor of Ted Petty whom is better known to wrestling fans as "Flyboy" Rocco Rock from the popular tag team The Public Enemy. Teddy was a wrestler that could do it all in the ring: wrestle, brawl, fly and do it all with the best of them. This tournament is to honor his memory and salute what a great all around wrestler that he was. Past winners have been TNA Superstars such as AJ Styles and Senshi Low Ki and also WWE Superstar Evan Bourne (Matt Sydal.) Other famous participants in past TPIs have been TNA stars Chris Sabin, Alex Shelley, Samoa Joe, Christopher Daniels, "Moose" Mickie Knuckles and others. WWE stars C.M. Punk and WWE Developmental stars Ace Steel, Colt Cabana, Jay Bradley (Brad Bradley) and more. ROH stars such as Jimmy Jacobs, Delirious, American Dragon, Tyler Black and more.
This year's tournament will be no different as we have a stacked field of big name stars from ROH and formerly of WWE that will be going against the best young stars in independent wrestling today that will become future ROH, TNA and WWE stars like their predecessors.
