August 2nd aired an episode of Verne Gagne`s AWA All-Star Wrestling from January 29th 1990.

Kent Carlson versus The Trooper (WWF`s Patriot unmasked)

The Trooper walked around ringside tossing plastic police badges to the fans. In the ring, the Trooper shoved down Kent in their lock-up. Kent gets taken to the mat with a headlock but pulls the hair to escape. Kent then gets the referee between them to back off The Trooper. Kent kicks and pushed Trooper`s headlock off, but gets charged down.

Trooper arm drags and locks up Kent`s left arm. Kent tries to whip off the lock, but Trooper maintained, bringing Kent to one knee. Kent breaks free with an eye rake, forearm clubs and jams Trooper in the corner with his shoulder.

Trooper punched his way out of the corner, then cornered Kent for knife edge chops. Trooper hip tosses Kent across ring, then delivered a standing dropkick. Trooper Irish whips Kent for a back body drop, then clamps his fingers into Kent`s shoulders for a trapezius nerve pinch.

Referee Gary DeRousha signals the bell, as Kent had submitted, closing the match before the four minute mark. Trooper turns the downed Kent onto his back, then gets his clipboard, and leaves a citation on Kent`s chest reaidng "liberty and justice for all" On the apron, "Hard Rock" Paul Diamond pats Trooper on the back.

In a post match ringside interview, Eric Bischoff congratulates The Trooper on his win, and Trooper said that there were a lot of good thing happening for him since his arrival in the AWA. He cited his tag team partnership with Diamond as an example.

Diamond then issued a challenge to AWA world tag team champions Wayne Bloom & Mike Enos of the Destruction Crew. Diamond - "it`s real simple, we¢re ready anytime in this ring and we¢ll take care of business"

Tony Leone & George Anderson versus AWA world tag team champions "Mean" Mike Enos & Wayne "The Train" Bloom of the Destruction Crew

Bloom & Enos walked to the ring in orange construction vests to their theme "We Will Rock You" by Queen. Leone and Anderson go to the floor, likely due to avoid a possible attack by the sledgehammer carrying Destruction Crew.

Commentator Lee Marshall mentioned that AWA president Joe Blanchard (wrestling legend, and father of Four Horseman Tully Blanchard) that new rules have been instated for 1990, due to the Destruction Crew`s conduct. Offense from the top rope are grounds for disqualification, particularly ones where one wrestler elevates another for this attack.

This mean that Destructions Crew`s Wrecking Ball finisher, when Eno holds up an opponent for Bloom`s top rope clothesline is now illegal. Marshall said that wrestlers` necks have been broken from it, as it had also put out of action Wahoo McDaniel, Ken Patera and Brad Rheingans.

Leone backs Enos to the ropes, Eno backs Leone for a strike, but Leone ducks to arm drag him over. Eno picks up Leone and body slams him into Bloom`s corner. A tagged Bloom knees Leone, body slams him, then hits a standing Leone with a flying fist from the middle rope. Bloom throws Leone into Anderson`s corner for the tag.

Bloom body slams, lands a knee drop near the throat, and gets a warning by referee Gary DeRousha. A tagged Enos assisted on an Irish whip, picking Anderson up in a choke press to Bloom`s face plant. Anderson is lifted up on Enos` shoulder then clipped by Bloom`s top rope clothesline. Referee DeRousha signals the bell, and the Destruction Crew raise their hands, thinking it`s a victory.

Ring announcer Dale Gagner was also confused, as he initially proclaimed Destruction Crew as the winners. He was instructed by Lee Marshall of the new rules. The announcement was then made that Leone and Anderson had won by disqualification. This match was under three minutes.

In a post match interview, Eric Bischoff said to The Crew that they must not have read the 1990 revision to the AWA rule book. An angered Eno began to answer in a yell, and Bloom told him to hold on. Bloom said that idiot Joe Blanchard is trying to do anything to take the belts away from them, just because The Crew are destroying everybody.

When Bischoff mentioned Paul Diamond and The Trooper looking for a title match, Enos starts to yell an answer, but Bloom tells him again to hold on. Bloom said that they have already beaten Diamond and Trooper. Bloom went on to say that they are done, as his team has better things to do in looking for global competition from Japan, Russia and Germany.

Colonel DeBeers accompanied by Magnificent Mimi gave comments about their Team Challenge Series "beauty and the beast" main event mixed tag team match against Baron Von Raschke and AWA ladies` world champion Candi Devine. DeBeers said that the Americans were blessed to have him in their presence.

DeBeers said that his team captain Sgt. Slaughter must feel that DeBeers is a beast as Mimi is an obvious beauty. DeBeers said that in South Africa, the men don`t have to send their women to work in order to provide for their families, but felt Mimi would pull her weight in the match if necessary. DeBeers said if Devine got in his face, he would slap her face.

Team captain Baron Von Raschke of Baron`s Blitzers gave counter comments with his tag team partner Candi Devine. Baron said that he was so excited at this match. Devine said that Mimi should stay home or might enjoy it better in South Africa with DeBeers, because Devine said she was no match for her.

 W.T. Jones versus Sargent Slaughter

Slaughter shakes and salutes the kids at ringside, and Lee Marshall mentions that Slaughter has upped his exercise routine to add seven pounds of muscle. A headlocked Jones, goes to the ropes for the break, and referee counts Sarge to release the wristlock as Jones is in the ropes.

Jones made false claim of Sarge having yanked his thick braided strand of hair. Sarge top wristlocks out of Jones` headlock, and Jones goes to the ropes and makes another false hair pull complaint.

Sarge applied the top wristlock on the ref without pressure, to demonstrate what actually occurred. Jones goes to the ropes again, when Sarge whent for a headlock to a hammerlock. After another phony complaint, Jones strikes Sarge in the corner with fists and a headbutt. Jones delivers a knee, walks away to celebrate, then nearly whips Sarge over the top rope with a corner whip.

Jones headbutts, body slams, but crashes to the mat when Sarge moves away from Jones` flying splash from the middle rope. Sarge punches Jones against the rope and in the corner. Jones is Irish whipped for a back elbow strike, then whipped for a back body drop.

Jones is taken down with a standing dropkick, then Sarge finally makes Jones truthful, when he yanks him up by that thick braided strand hair. Sarge misses an elbow on the whip, but plants Jones with a hangman`s clothesline. Sarge applies the cobra clutch, and Jones quickly submits, closing this match after four minutes.

Bischoff asks Sarge if putting too much pressure on himself, or his pre-occupation with teammate Col. DeBeers is why Sarge`s Snipers are trailing substantially in the Team Challenge Series. Sarge said that he, like America, has been down before. He said that battles are won and lost, but what matters is who is left standing at the end of war.

Sarge said that he had been busy promoting G.I. Joe toys, as well as visiting children in hospitals and military veterans. Sarge said wrestling is what he lives for, and that he is now back to turn things around for his team.

Bischoff mentioned that Baron Von Raschke liked that the AWA Fanline voted for his team`s Russian Brute to face Sgt. Slaughter in a taped fist match. Baron though wanted it in hopes to destroy Sarge`s Snipers moral, by having their leader defeated. Sarge said that when it is all over, he will be left standing with his taped hand raised, two points for his team and bye bye Baron.

Tom Bennett versus The Russian Brute (accompanied by Ox Baker)

Brute comes to the ring carrying the Soviet fag, and his left hand taped in preparation for his match against Sgt. Slaughter that was a week away. Ox Baker hands mini Soviet falgs to commentators Lee Marshall and Ralph Strangis. .

Brute forearm clubs Bennett in the corner and whips him for a clothesline. Brute gestures his tape fist to hand to signal an impending heart punch. Bennett reverses Brute whip and clothesline him. Bennett kicks at brute then whips him to the corner.

Bennett charges but crashes into the Brute`s raised boot. Brute stomped, body slammed and headbutted down Bennett. Brute then pressed Bennett down on the canvas with a double handed throat grab. Brute then rams his knee into Bennett`s back, and Bennett`s throat hits the middle rope.

Fans chant "USA!" Bennett is whipped, ducks Brute`s clothesline, but gets kicked. Brute applied a chancery front face lock, then Brute brings Bennett to the mat with a spinning neckbreaker. Bennett is Irish whipped for a back elbow strike, then Brute raises Bennett`s left arm and hammers him to the mat with the Ox Baker taught heart punch. Brute covers for the pin count of 3, ending this match in under three minutes.

Ox told Bischoff in the post match interview, that Baron is using his Brute to gain momentum. Ox mentioned that Brute had knocked out seven time NWA world champion Harley Race for thirteen minutes with the heart punch. Ox revealed that Baron wanted Brute to not only beat Slaughter, but put in the hospital. Ox said that the Russian Brute loves to hurt people, and promised that Slaughter would be carried off in an ambulance.

After the commercial, Lee Marshall narrated the update of the Team Challenge Series standings. The results showed that Baron Von Raschke`s Blitzers had taken the lead with 20 points, Larry Zbyszko`s Legends were in second with 15 points, and Sgt. Slaughter`s Snipers taking third with 13 points. The main event for the next episode was announced as Sgt. Slaughter versus The Russian Brute in a tape fist encounter. This match was voted for by those who called into AWA`s fanline.

Magnificent Mimi & Colonel DeBeers of Sarge Sniper`s versus Baron Von Raschke & AWA ladies world champion Candi Devine of Baron`s Blitzers in a "beauty & the beast" mixed tag Team Challenge Series match.

Mini wore a hot pink one piece outfit as she walked with DeBeers to the Miami Vice tv theme song. Candi wore a tiger design one piece as she walked with The Baron to Bob Seger`s song "Her Strut".

Candi in the tiger design one piece arm dragged Mimi to a wristlock, then reverses Mimi`s wristlock. A hammerlocked Mimi breaks the hold with a leg trip. Mimi applies a grapevine ankle lock Devine kicks Mimi back to grapevine her leg and gets a pin count of 2.

Mimi forces Candi down, then slingshots her. Candi is pulled up by her hair, and fights back with forearm clubs to the back and a snap mare. Mimi is whipped for a double chop, then Candi pulls her up by the hair. Candi gets a pin of 2 after a body slam. A tagged DeBeers comes in to go after Candi, but is chased out when the goose stepping Baron appraoches with The Claw.

Back in the ring, DeBeers applied a wristlock, but is flipped to the mat by Baron`s reversal. Baron presses his boots to DeBeers face and ribs, as he pulls him in the arm stretcher. Baron pulls DeBeers down, but DeBeers would stand again and rakes his boot against Baron`s face. DeBeers smashes Baron in the corner, rakes his eyes, and corner whips him for a gut punch.

Baron brings his boot up on the turnbuckle to block DeBeers attempt at a corner smash, then DeBeers exits again when Baron re-displays The Claw. DeBeers returns to hop over the top ropes, and casually go over to Mimi for the tag.

Candi takes Mimi down by the leg for a Boston Crab. Mimi rolls Candi, but Candi rolls her for a pin of 2. Mimi then gets a 2 on her roll reversal pin. Mimi tries to whip, but Candi comes back his a forearm to Mimi`s chest.

Mimi is whipped to the ropes and charged down. Candi snap mares her for a chancery front face lock, but Mimi rams Candi into DeBeers` corner with her shoulder. Referee Gary DeRousha vantage point couldn`t spot DeBeers` hair pull sneak to keep Candi in the corner, for Mimi`s forearm strikes.

DeBeers then chokes Candi on the middle rope, when referee DeRousha backs off Baron`s attempt entering the ring to help Candi. Mimi snap mare, body slam and splash earned her a pin count of 2. Mimi monkey flips Candi and whips her for a back elbow drive. Mimi pulls Candi up by her hair, but Candi pulls back on Mimi` hair.

Mimi hip tosses Candi and secures her in an arm stretcher. DeBeers reached in to pull Mimi`s arm, giving extra pressure on the hold. Again, DeBeers pulled Candi into the corner by her hair, Mimi`s strikes. Mimi distracts the ref for DeBeers to choke Candi. Mimi then pulls Candi down to the mat by her hair.

Mimi whips Candi to the ropes, but Candi knocks down Mimi on the charge. Candi body slammed Mimi, then rolled her up with an inside cradle. Baron came in to back off DeBeers, but referee DeRousha was distracted from the making the pin to back off Baron.

DeBeers comes in to roll Mimi on top and exits. DeRousha turns and sees a pin, and counts the 3, giving two points to Sarge`s Sniper team. This match was over eight minutes.

Lee Marshall refers to Eric Bischoff as "choir boy" when he mentions the ringside interview. Baron told Bischoff that although Slaughter`s team gets the points, that it was done the wrong way. An angered Candi yells that next time she will have 1..2..3 on Mimi.
