NWS Seaside Heights 7/10 Results:
Near-Capacity Crowd, Extreme Rules Main Event With Former ECW'ers, WWE's Original Diva Sunny In The House, Shane Taylor Returns To The NWS Ring &
More From NWS' First Summer Show
Some say the summer officially begins on June 21st. Others say the summer season begins for all intents & purposes on Memorial Day Weekend. But as far as National Wrestling Superstars is concerned, their summer season began on Thursday night July 10th as they kicked off "Shore Wars 2008" with the first of four scheduled shows at Seaside Heights, NJ's Our Lady Of Perpetual Help Parish Hall. A near-capacity crowd filled the Hall to watch NWS heat up the night with action hot enough to rival the summer sun.
Mitch Franklyn defeated Jumping Joey Janella. "Triple-J", as he was called, was way over with the crowd, but his enthusiasm was not enough to overcome Franklyn's toughness, and Franklyn pinned Janella after a double axe-handle chop to the heart.
A Triple-Threat Match between The Shadow, Bobby Firehawk, and B. Fehrm was declared a no-contest after all three were attacked by manager Rocco Dorsey and his stable of former ECW brawler The Equalizer, Cameron Shaft, and NWS Cruiserweight Champion J.D. Smooth. Dorsey took the microphone and talked about how Equalizer and Shaft would destroy former ECW'ers The Blue Meanie and The Zombie in the main event. Suddenly, out came The Blue Meanie, led by the original diva of the WWE, Sunny. Sunny announced that she would be in Meanie & Zombie's corner for the main event. The Zombie came out of the locker room and helped chase Dorsey and his charges out of the ring.
Nicky Oceans & Corey Havoc defeated NWS Jersey Shore Champion Rhett "The Threat" Titus & Mikey Pacifica. Oceans was still smarting from losing the NWS Jersey Shore Title to Titus in May, and with Havoc's help succeeded in getting a measure of revenge, tossing Titus over the top rope and then double-teaming Mikey with a jawbreaker and a lariat to score the pinfall & victory.
"Mr. Motion" Shane Taylor (w/ manager Ryan Maher) defeated Zack Novack. Novack's scheduled opponent Dan Rageous was a no-show due to car problems , but NWS was determined to give Novack an opponent as this was his NWS debut. Out of nowhere came NWS manager Ryan Maher, who informed Commissioner Gino Moore that his friend Shane Taylor was sitting in the back, and was medically cleared to wrestle (having been sidelined for nearly a year with a back injury). Shane was more than happy to make this night his return to the NWS ring. Novack surprised Shane with some initial offense on his part, but the veteran Shane quickly shed the ring rust and defeated Novack with a superkick.
The NWS Cruiserweight Title Match between champion J.D. Smooth (w/ manager Rocco Dorsey) vs. challenger Nikko The Winged Monkey Man From Oz was declared a double disqualification after J.D.'s stablemates The Equalizer & Cameron Shaft attacked Nikko to break up a pin attempt, and The Blue Meanie & The Zombie ran in to make the save.
Former ECW'ers The Blue Meanie & The Zombie (w/ the original WWE diva Sunny) defeated former ECW brawler The Equalizer & Cameron Shaft (w/ manager Rocco Dorsey). Before the match, The Equalizer challenged The Blue Meanie to a dance-off. Not surprisingly, The Equalizer, who was more used to brawling rather than dancing, was no match for The Meanie's popular dance moves. Even The Zombie tried a few dance moves and was cheered by the crowd. Equalizer proved he was a sore loser by attacking Meanie, and the match was on. The match was all over the place, inside and outside the ring, and with three former ECW'ers involved, the fans weren't the least bit surprised to see chairs and leather straps enter the fray. In the end, while Zombie was brawling with Shaft outside the ring, Equalizer attempted to pitch Meanie into a steel chair wedged in the corner, but Meanie reversed things and Equalizer went face-first into the chair, was knocked cold and subsequently pinned by Meanie to send the fans home happy.
NWS returns to action on Thursday night July 24th at 7:05pm with their second "Shore Wars 2008" show at Parish Hall in Seaside Heights, NJ. That show will be the first of a four-show weekend blitz, which continues on Friday night July 25th at 7:45pm at the Middletown, NJ VFW Hall, then on Saturday night July 26th at 8:00pm with NWS' annual outdoor show at Long Branch, NJ's Italian-American Memorial Association Showgrounds, and concludes on Sunday afternoon July 27th at 3:30pm as NWS joins up with their Delaware affiliate Funkdafied Wrestling Federation at the Christiana, DE Fire Company Memorial Hall.
