Capt Lou is honored, former ECW Spike Dudley goes through car window
NWS Jackson, NJ 5/17 Results: Former ECW'er Spike Dudley Goes Through A Car Window, Plus Captain Lou Albano Is Honored And MoreDespite the weather forecast threatening to put a damper on this outdoor show, nearly 200 fans filled the Central Jersey Italian-American Club Showgrounds in Jackson, NJ on Saturday night May 17th to watch NWS' latest star-studded event, which was highlighted by tributes to WWE Hall Of Fame manager Captain Lou Albano, who was making his last scheduled wrestling appearance in New Jersey that night, as many friends of the Captain came by to say goodbye, in the likes of ECW original big 911, also Jumbo Joe Gunns and others were on hand for this historic night as the skies stayed clear for this outdoor evening event and only started to rain well after, which shows that even the weather gods are NWS fans.
In a battle of big men, one-time ECW brawler The Equalizer defeated Ryan Blackheart. After brawling inside and outside the ring, Equalizer finished off Blackheart with a bulldog and a kick to the head for good measure followed by a pin. Equalizer went over to Captain Lou Albano's autograph table after the match and started trash-talking at the Captain, who slugged Equalizer in the jaw for his efforts. As history buffs should note, this would be the last time ever that the Captain ever gets involved physically with another wrestler, as it should be also duly noted that the Equalizer was and is the last wrestler to receive it.
Former ECW star Julio Dinero came to the ring with his manager Miss Michelle and his new business advisor Gigalo Joe Jones, along with NWS Jersey Shore Champion Nicky Oceans and Bryan Harley. After getting in some insults of his own at Captain Lou (Dinero stayed in the ring, having learned from Equalizer's mistake), he accused NWS of a conspiracy to embarass him by putting him in a Tables Match against a master of Tables Matches, Matt Hyson (a.k.a former WWE & ECW star Spike Dudley). He said he would show who the master was tonight. Nicky Oceans took the microphone to get in a few insults at his arch-rival Rhett Titus, who was in the building and scheduled for a separate match that night. The promo ended with Captain Lou getting in his last ever wrestling show verbal tirade on Julio as the crowd ate it up.
The Flying Monkey (from the land of Oz, with Nicky Oceans) won by disqualification over Rhett "The Threat" Titus. Titus dominated this unknown newcomer, despite outside interference from Oceans. But when Titus was slapping on his inverted crossface submission hold, Oceans distracted the referee and threw a pair of brass knuckles into the ring. When Titus picked them up to get rid of them, the referee turnedaround, saw The Monkey laying flat on the canvas and Titus holding the foreign object, and disqualified Titus. Titus immediately attacked Oceans, not wanting to wait until their scheduled showdown in Lacey Township in two weeks, and the two had to be separated by the entire NWS Security Staff.
In an NWS New Jersey Heavyweight Title Match, the champion Vicious Vinny retained the title against Bryan Harley. Harley matched Vinny in size and power, but Vinny prevailed and won with a Michinoku Driver and a pin. Vinny took the microphone and, with management's permission, dedicated the win to Captain Lou, at which point ring announcer Dapper Johnny Falco segwayed and gave the fans a taste of what the boys in the back heard during the pre-show locker room meeting, by recapping the great Captain's illustrious career as the crowd gave a much deserved standing ovation in honor of the Captain.
Former WWE TV legends Nikolai Volkoff & The World Famous Clown defeated the newly-formed Team Havoc (Corey Havoc & Havoc Jr.). Team Havoc jumped Volkoff as he gave his unique rendition of "God Bless America", but the WWE veteran prevailed, with Volkoff pinning Havoc after a Russian Hammer to the back of the head. Havoc's friends Bryan Harley & The Equalizer & Nicky Oceans ran in to attack Volkoff & The Clown, but were driven off by Rhett Titus, Ryan Blackheart, Vicious Vinny, and former ECW star Spike Dudley.
Former ECW star The Blue Meanie defeated "The Adjuster" Doctor Lamar Braxton Porter. Not having success at clamping a wrestling hold on Meanie, The Adjuster challenged him to a dance-off. Meanie won the fans' accolades by a clear majority, but was attacked from behind by The Adjuster and the match began in earnest. But Meanie outlasted The Adjuster's brawling, and won the match after a DDT and a splash off the top rope.
In a non-title match, Mighty Mikey Pacifica defeated NWS Jersey Shore Champion Nicky Oceans. Oceans was looking to seal the night with a victory, and despite Mikey's high-flying offense, the champion was looking like he would do just that, but then Rhett Titus appeared at ringside holding Oceans' brass knuckles from earlier. While Titus distracted the referee, he tossed them to Mikey who knocked out Oceans and got rid of them before the referee turned around. Mikey covered the unconscious Oceans as the referee counted 1-2-3 with a grinning Titus looking on. (Payback's a b****!)
Former ECW star Spike Dudley defeated former ECW'er Julio Dinero (with manager Miss Michelle & Gigalo Joe Jones) in a Tables Match. This was a brawl for the archives, as the two battled inside and outside the ring, using ladders, chairs, and even smashing each other into the hood, roof, and windshield of a car parked in the back of the showgrounds. After both combatants missing attempts to put their opponent through the table, Dinero placed Spike onto the table and leaped off the top rope, only to have Spike move out of the way and Dinero put himself through the table, causing the referee to call for the bell and award Spike the victory, sending him home bruised but happy, and the crowd just plain giddy and happy. (This was not the case for NWS management, as both owners Falco and the beloved Commissioner Gino Moore were both seen putting the blame game on each other as to who was responsible for the dented and smashed car. This explosion in front of all to see spilled back into the dressing room, as it was determined that Julio Dinero was the catalyst for the car spot and would be docked his pay and booked off of future shows for at least two months. Meanwhile NWS management promised to make good on the damage to the car by providing the car's owner, a fan in attendance, free tickets to all NWS events for an entire year. Believe it or not, the fan accepted, as he was and still is a ardent NWS follower, and 50 to 60 shows a year times two more than makes up for the dents and windshield damage. Thank goodness NWS runs a as many shows as they do.)
