More charges for man accused of killing ex-wrestler
GIBSONTON (Bay News 9) -- A Riverview man is facing additional charges in the death of a former professional wrestler.
In addition to vehicular homicide, Deputies charged
Harry Taylor with second-degree murder Friday afternoon.
According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, Taylor left a bar on U.S. Highway 301 early Wednesday morning and ran his car into the back of John Meek's motorcycle, forcing him to crash.
Taylor, 37, is being held without bond at the Orient Road Jail.
According to witnesses, Taylor told Meek, a former wrestler "I'm going to run you over.'' Deputies said, moments later, Taylor drove his 1994 GMC van into the back of Meek's motorcycle near the intersection of Krycul Avenue and Zeppole Way.
Meek, 52, was thrown from the motorcycle. He was transported to Tampa General Hospital, where he died about an hour after the crash. Meek wrestled professionally under the name "Iron Mike" Steel until he retired in 2004.
