NAT’L WRESTLING SUPERSTARS RESULTS FROM MIDDLETOWN
- 07/29/2007 (3:27:42 pm)
- Press Release
……
It was a hot summer night on the Jersey Shore, where an equally hot crowd of over 200 fans filled the Italian-American Memorial Association Showgrounds in Long Branch, NJ for National Wrestling Superstars' annual summer tradition, the "Long Branch Bash". The weather stayed calm, but the action was anything but calm.
Before the first match could be introduced, TNA Wrestling's Miss Traci Brooks ran into the ring, apparently still fuming over her loss the previous night in Middletown, NJ, where she was part of an inter-gender match with TNA arch-rival Nikki Roxx on the other side. She was booked to be part of an inter-gender rematch that night in Long Branch, but she demanded that she have a one-on-one match with Nikki Roxx that night, and begged NWS Commissioner Gino Moore to make the match. Nikki Roxx and manager Royce Profit came out to the ring and objected, but Commissioner Moore made the match, and banned Royce Profit from ringside.
NWS Jersey Shore Champion Travis Blake retained the title against former champion Nicky Oceans.
The fans made fun of Oceans' new "Psychedelic Sissies" ring attire, but in the ring Oceans was all business as he went after the title Travis had beat him for nearly three months earlier. The two battled inside and outside the ring, but in the end Travis survived a superkick from Oceans and rolled him up for the 1-2-3 to retain the title.
The Baghdad Bullies (T.N.T & Saddam Insane w/ Royce Profit) defeated The Patriot & The Rogue (w/ "Jackhammer John Gizzi).
After The Bullies had been complaining for months about biased referee'ing in their matches, they actually got a victory this night. The Bullies used their size advantage early on, but Patriot and Rogue courageously battled back and were on the verge of another victory when Royce Profit distracted Rogue and T.N.T snuck up and threw a fireball into Rogue's face. A blinded Rogue was covered by T.N.T for the 1-2-3 pinfall. Security swarmed the ring and Rogue received immediate medical attention, with the extent of his injuries still not known as of this report.
Fantastic Maxx defeated "G.Q." Gavin Quest and Unbreakable Andy in a three-way Ladders-Tables-And-Chairs Match with $1,000 hanging from the ring.
Gavin, who had returned to action the previous night after recovering from a broken collarbone, was a late addition to this match. With three proven high flyers in the ring, the action was, predictably, all over the place. True to its name, a ladder soon found its way into the match, followed by chairs and a table, as all three men were on both the giving and receiving end of some painful looking moves. Gavin Quest was speared through a table, and it was hoped that he did not re-injure his collarbone. Andy and Maxx then battled up the ladder, but Maxx delivered a back-cracker to Andy coming off the ladder, and then climbed up again and was successful in retrieving the $1,000 to win the match.
J.C. Rage defeated Hyena in a Long Branch Street Fight.
After attacking Hyena back in May in Brick, this was Rage's first official match back with NWS, and the first in a four-match series of Street Fights between the two. Rage, although cheered by the fans, did not appear to lose any of his vicious streak, and took the fight right to the dangerous Hyena. They battled inside and outside the ring, and used a variety of weapons (all legal in a Street Fight) on each other, including garbage cans, Singapore Canes, metal trays, and even a fly swatter! In the end, Rage powerbombed Hyena onto a garbage can and pinned him 1-2-3 for the victory.
Miss Traci Brooks defeated Nikki Roxx in a battle of arch-rival TNA divas.
Traci has been anxious to prove to the fans and her fellow wrestlers that she can wrestle as well as manage, and took out her frustrations on Nikki that night. After battling inside the ring for several minutes, the two took their catfight outside the ring. NWS referee Kenny Edwards reached the count of ten with both ladies still fighting outside the ring, and declared the match a double countout. Security had a tough time separating the two women. Traci demanded a rematch, which was signed by Commissioner Moore for August 25th in Carteret.
Demolition Axe & Slayer (w/ Barry Darsow a.k.a. Demolition Smash) defeated Salvatore Sincere & J.D. Smooth (w/ Royce Profit).
Sal and J.D. insisted that their new-found tag-team be called "Sincerely Smooth", as the fans boo'ed. The boos quickly turned to cheers as the familiar "Here comes the Axe... and here comes the Smasher..." played over the P.A. as Axe and Slayer, accompanied by Darsow, charged the ring and the fight was on. Axe's strength and Slayer's unpredictability kept Sal and Smooth off guard, and it looked for a time like Sincerely Smooth was anything but running smoothly. But they came back and were able to double-team and overpower Slayer for several minutes until Axe was finally tagged in and cleaned house. Darsow leveled Royce Profit to keep him from interfering as Axe powerslammed Smooth and covered him 1-2-3 for the victory.
NWS returns to action this coming Thursday August 2nd in Seaside Heights, NJ for its third "Shore Wars" show.
