…..

Time is standing still for me, I couldn't sleep well last night at all.  I am still reeling from Sherri's death and now this.  All the news stations have covered this tragic event.  It appears that Chris needed some help, and nobody was there to listen.

BTW - Kathy Fitzpatrick told me last night that Sherri Martel's service is for Wednesday from 5 to 8 PM at Brown Service Funeral Home - 1300 4th Avenue N, Bessemer, AL. 35020.  But when I called them last night to see if they had a local florist to send flowers, I was told they don't have Sherri there for the wake.  Hopefully I will have more information today.

Another death in a business that has consumed too many

In a business that has always touched on tradition, excellence and overall professionalism, CHRIS BENOIT, had it all. This man from Canada loved the business. He never gave less than 100%. This life was so precious, yet somehow it ended on Monday around 2:30 pm . We all mourn the loss of this WWE superstar, father and husband.  Daniel Benoit was also killed, a mere 7 years old, you begin to wonder what could have happened in his mind. His wife Nancy aka WOMAN from her WCW/ECW days was found dead in yet another room. Chris was only 40 years old. The police are treating this as a murder/suicide.  I would like to remember the man who won the title in MSG at Wrestlemania not as the media has played him out in the recent hours that have passed.   I'll miss you Chris....    From Lee of New Jersey

Georgi:
I just read the details of the Chris Benoit tragedy on our Bloomberg newswire and I'm in shock.  He seemed to be so devoted to Nancy and his son- -this is just unbelievable.  I guess we will know more when the autopsy results come out, but Benoit would be the last person I would expect to read about in a headline like this.  Met Nancy at one of John Arezzi's events.  She seemed very sweet.  She also came into the courthouse where my sister works in Fla a while back with Kevin who she was still married to at the time.
And, I really haven't been following wrestling except for TNA for a while.  What happened to Sherri Martel?  I met her several times and she was the sweetest and made me feel like I was the only person at the convention there to see her.  Spent a lot of time talking.  All the good ones are disappearing.  It is so sad.
Be well!!     Linda Smith

Georgie,
Good morning, I know you are probably getting barraged with emails right now but I would be a miss if I didn't drop you something.  As I sit here the morning after getting the saddest news wearing my Eddie memorial T-shirt, thinking why?  I don't want to believe what the report on the news is currently that Chris murdered his family and killed himself.  Just can't, just won't believe that.  I want to wait till the final word.  So sad. Chris was an amazing talent, athlete and person as was Nancy (whom I had the privilege of meeting back in her Woman days - excellent person) my heart is breaking this morning and I cannot say anymore. We are losing our boys too fast.  With a heavy heart I will continue my day with Chris, Nancy & Daniel, in my heart and know they are in a better place and Chris is with Eddie.  I remembered watching WM 20 when Chris won the belt thinking at the time how cool it was that both Chris and Eddie were both champions and sharing the moment together and last night watching the end of Raw with tears in my eyes saying, "they are both gone".  How sad, very sad.
I know you have a heavy heart this morning also so it would be difficult to ask me if you are well because I know you are as sad as I am at this sad time but I do hope and pray you are well and just keep in mind that Chris is home...safely home.  I will talk to you again soon.  Take care.  Love, Barb

Georgiann,   I was up late last night, first because of the shock and sadness that Chris Benoit was gone, and then with the shock and horror of the details.  My wife and daughter met Chris at an autograph signing in January '06.  They said he couldn't have been nicer.  He took time to talk to them.  They discussed Eddie's loss and wrestling and his family.  We're just in total shock.  Out of anyone on the roster, I would have expected this from Chris least.  I'm just speechless and at a loss.  I don't know how to explain it to my 12 year old, who went to bed before these details came to light.  As an adult, I just don't understand so how could she?  I just feel heartbroken.  David

A True Great - - - Chris Benoit was one of the greats, if not the greatest in the ring. He was a phenomenal wrestler and had true talent. There will never be another Chris Benoit.  It is truly sad that his career had to end like this, but it will be better to remember the legacy he leaves in the ring, then how his life ended. The memories of The Rabid Wolverine will last forever from when he was in Japan fighting Jushin Liger, to when he finally won the world title, and his many Intercontinental, US, and Tag Team title reigns. He was truly amazing and this is one of the most tragic and saddest moments in professional wrestling.
From Johnny Henderson of Duncan, SC

This is going to sound weird at first if you have heard anything in the news about his cause unfortunately I feel a very good person who did a very messed up thing will be forgotten in the things he had done great before the decision he made over the weekend.   I am a Huge WWE fan, I am sure you all know this. Last night when it should have been time for WWE to be on TV it was a 3 hour tribute show for Chris Benoit and his family instead. They said he and his wife and 7 year old son had been killed. Katlynn and I had the pleasure of meeting Chris once, and I know you really never "know" famous people. Heck in all honesty how much do we really "know" some of our own co-workers?  But from meeting him and just all the things you know when you saw him on TV and the times he has even had to discuss things in interviews you just knew he was a good guy. I don't know what happened, and I am in total shock. I will never say killing your family is justifiable or ok.  But I have to believe deep in my heart something happened, mentally, to make this happen. He loved his family even in the one meeting I had with him I asked him how he was doing after he lost his friend Eddie Guierrro and his words to me unscripted off camera were " I miss him a lot, I can't imagine how I could live without my family, so I can only try to know how his family is doing. I will always be there for Eddies family cause family is a very important thing" . I called David immediately after meeting Chris and told him how much of a great guy both Katlynn and I thought he was. He didn't have to talk to us, he could have signed his autograph and went on to the next person. Anyhow, cause there is a million things I could keep saying, in the media in the next few days I see him being represented as a bad guy, a murderer and who knows what else. I want you to pray for the family he has left behind, his friends and even him. Something snapped in him to make this all happen and even though he did a very terrible thing I still have to believe he lived a good life and something snapped to make this happen. Even when the autoposy comes out we will only know the "how" not the why as to their deaths. And we will never know why cause he is dead as well, but really I believe he was a good guy. I don't know how to explain the person Katlynn looked up to killed his family and his self, and I am truly with all the words I feel and say speechless...  From  Dawn Levian

Tarnish on a Legend sent in by lekisha_oliver
Heartbreak and sadness crept through the wrestling world with the announcement on Monday afternoon.  The passing of Chris Benoit, Nancy Benoit and Daniel Benoit has sent a shockwave through the wrestling sport.
From early reports, it had appeared that there may have been a tragic accident in the suburban Atlanta, Georgia, home, but then more information became available.
Possible double murder / suicide has left tarnish on the legacy that was Chris Benoit.
But looking back through the legacy, one has to wonder why would this former World Wrestling Entertainment champion and his loving family would be gone so soon.
Before the results will be released, the past has painted a very grand photo of both Nancy and Chris Benoit.
With Benoit starting out in Calgary in 1985, a shining career would string out all over the globe.  Taking on Stampede wrestling and the Hart dungeon shaped Chris to be one of the strongest pure wrestlers in the sport today.  That training held on through the entire year of touring through Japan as the Pegasus Kid where he met some of his closest friends, like Eddie Guerrero, and had some of his toughest battles in the ring, including the IWGP Junior Heavyweight title from Jushin Liger.
Extreme Championship Wrestling brought Benoit back into the mainstream of the western hemisphere.  The stint in ECW would bring him more notoriety with his strength in the ring, but also bringing him more relationships that would continue until his death.  Notably that of Dean Malenko.
Next came World Championship Wrestling.
Benoit would start his four-year run as the Crippler and as one of the Four Horsemen.  Through title runs as the United States Champion, Tag Team Champion, Television Champion and then to the WCW Heavyweight Champion when he defeated Sid Vicious in January 2000.  Before too long, the politics of backstage forced Benoit, along with Eddie Guerrero, Perry Saturn and Dean Malenko to head to World Wrestling Entertainment.
In January 2000, the contract was signed and the Radicalz made their way into WWE history.  With runs as the Intercontential champion, tag team champions and the United States Champion, the world title would soon be in the future of Benoit.   By winning the Royal Rumble in 2004, Benoit concreted his shot at headlining WrestleMania 20 at Madison Square Garden in a triple-threat match against Shawn Michaels and the reigning champion Triple H.  That night would change the history of Benoit and his close friend Eddie Guerrero.  With both men taking the titles that night, a new legacy and a new chapter had been written in their books.
But what of the personal side of Chris Benoit?
During his run at World Championship Wrestling, Benoit had started to be managed by Woman, also known as Nancy Sullivan.  Sullivan, who at the time was married to “The Taskmaster” Kevin Sullivan, started seeing Benoit as more than just one she managed.  They would eventually marry and have one son, Daniel.  Along with their youngest, Benoit also had two more children that were not present in Atlanta over the weekend.
Through all the prayers and all the hopes for the family, we hope that the legacy that it took Chris Benoit over two decades to create would be forever blemished.  More information about this tragedy will be released throughout the week.
Please continue to pray and keep them in your thoughts.
God bless Chris Benoit.  God bless Nancy Benoit.  God bless Daniel Benoit.  May you rest in peace.
Hey Georgie..
No real stories to share.. Chris used to always go to a local diner any time they were in the NJ/NY area.. so I saw him a few occassions.. the last time I saw him was a few months back (wanna say April).. they ran SD! show in Trenton.. after the show a limo pulled up to the diner and out came Chris and Nancy.. I was shocked to see Nancy actually.. Chris was overly nice with everyone there.. took a few photos and signed autographs.. I went up to him and ask if he wouldn't mind if I took a picture with him and nancy together..   He said 'it's up to her' but his face told 'i'd rather you not'.. I mean I'd be weirded out if someone wanted to take a photo with my wife too ya know?
I figured what could happen.. so I asked Nancy and she was actually very happy to do so..
I've heard that getting her to take that picture was somewhat of a miracle as she seems to have wanted to not be involved in the business anymore..
nonetheless.. here's the picture

picture might be a little small.... but you get the point.

I really hope all this crap I'm reading is nonsense... I loved watching Chris perform .. I was there at the Rumble in 2003 with he and Angle had probably best match I've ever seen live.. I was there at WMXX to see him win the title.. the image of him and Eddie at the end of night will always be a great moment for me.

"Wrestler Chris Benoit's Death Discussed. 06/26/07. 7:30 AM
Howard got into the story about this guy Chris Benoit being found dead in his home with his wife and child. He said that the three of them may have been involved in a murder/suicide. Robin said that he was apparently called home for a family emergency even though he was supposed to be at some big event last night. Howard played a clip of Vince McMahon explaining what was going on last night at the event. He said that the event was supposed to be filled to capacity with the fans. They had to cancel that and Vince explained to the fans what was going on. Howard said it was weird when Vince was talking like ''regular Vince.''

Howard said Triple H got on that special and told a freaky story. He played the clip of that where Triple H was asking what Chris Benoit was and he figured that it was all about respect. He demanded respect and it meant everything to him. He then tells a story about how Chris took it upon himself to teach another wrestler a lesson after he had disrespected another guy by making him do 1000 squats. The next day the guy couldn't bend his legs so he forced him to do 500 more squats. That's how much respect meant to him. Howard said that sounds like something KC's father would do to him. He said he could never deal with something like that in his life. Howard said that story was kind of insightful because maybe that's the way he reacted to something in his personal life and took it to an extreme.

Howard said that there are some angry dudes there in the WWE. He wondered if Chris' wife Texted ''143'' to someone. He was referring to Sal's wife when he brought up that ''143'' thing."

Fayette County Police: Benoit Kills Family Over 3 Day Period
Story posted by Ryan Clark on June 25, 2007

Sources in the Fayette County Police Department are now working under the theory that Chris Benoit killed Nancy on Saturday, son Daniel on Sunday, and then killed himself earlier today. This story is making its way out through the AP news wire and FOX News.

Benoit was found dead in his weight room. Nancy was found dead in the living room. Daniel was found dead in his bedroom, according to an unnamed source in the department.

Lt. Tommy Pope told ABC News "the instruments of death were located on the scene," but didn't specify what those were or where they were found. Pope said the department was not actively searching for any suspects outside the house.

It has been rumored to me, that the deaths were strangulation, but not confirmed.
