IWF February Fury Weekend Events Feb 24-25 @ West Paterson, NJ:
Torres-Corino Street Fight, Knight-Blake Ladder Match, Sampson-Franciz Grudge Match
(WEST PATERSON, NJ)- With the countdown to the Independent Wrestling Federation's 10th Annual Reckless Abandon Anniversary Weekend in March underway, the road first travels through February Fury Weekend on Saturday, February 24, 7:30 pm, and Sunday, February 25, 4 pm. The live action takes place at IWF Centre, 32 Willow Way, West Paterson, NJ. Here is a preview...
Day one February 24 features a gigantic double main event. First, the IWF Heavyweight Title is on the line in a Bronx Street Fight as champion Tony Torres of Latin Revolution with Eloy Fiesta wages war with former American Champion Justin Corino. Last month at Winter Warfare, Corino made Tony tap out, but Fiesta conveniently had the referee's attention allowing Antonio Rivera to interfere, costing Justin the bout. On the Eruption Webcast, Corino pinned Torres with a one-count in a non-title amateur challenge. Now, they clash for the last time in this no disqualification, anything goes battle.
In the second main event, fans witness a Ladder Match for the IWF American Title as two-time champion Travis Blake with Commissioner Rich Ross defends against former Heavyweight Champion Kevin Knight. In December, Blake won the 7th Annual Tournament of Champions with a win over Knight in the finals. Last month, they fought to a time-limit draw. On the Eruption Webcast, Travis triumphantly regained the American Title. Now, the stakes are even greater as they collide in a bout where the first man to climb the ladder and grab the gold wins.
In a grudge match, the reinstated BoneCrusher Fred Sampson tangles with arch rival Franciz of The Ross Family. In September at Fall Brawl, the 340-pound mastodon defeated Sampson in a chain match where the loser had to leave town for 60 days. Ross, thrilled with the elimination of Fred, extended the banishment. Sampson's protege, the mysterious Masked BoneCrusher, arrived on the scene to continue the war with the family. Now, Fred has returned and his sights are set on the unstoppable Franciz.
New IWF Tag Team Champions Outlaw Shane O'Brien and Aaron Stride defend in a best two-out-of-three falls match against former champions Burnin' Mike Durnin and Steve Camacho. Last month when O'Brien and Stride won the belts, they also won the services of valet Jana for 60 days. In this rematch, the new Ross Family servant is handcuffed to Rich Ross at ringside.
In a return bout for the IWF Junior Heavyweight Title, former three-time champion Dangerous Dan McGuire challenges champion Antonio Rivera of Latin Revolution with Eloy Fiesta. Last month, Fiesta's outside interference cost McGuire a chance to win the title for the fourth time. On the Eruption Webcast, Dan gained a measure of revenge against Eloy, but he will not rest until the score is settled with Rivera.
In other singles action February 24, Shawn Moore returns to face the pesky Tommy Trouble; while big Dan Marques squares off against the rugged Frank Scoleri. There will be a fan raffle to win a free pair of tickets to the Spin Doctor's concert on February 26 in Sayreville, NJ.
Day two Sunday, February 25 also features a double main event featuring an IWF Heavyweight Title Match as either Tony Torres -or- Justin Corino defends against a mystery opponent chosen by the championship committee.
In a Lumberjack Match, Fred Sampson meets another Ross Family member, this time it is Travis Blake. Other wrestlers surround the ring to guarantee there is no escape.
In a grudge match, Kevin Knight meets Ross Family member Aaron Stride. Knight defeated Stride in the quarterfinals of December's Tournament of Champions and Aaron is looking for revenge.
A Public Debate will be conducted before the fans as the topic of who is the most dominant IWF group will be discussed. Eloy Fiesta, representing Latin Revolution, chats with Rich Ross, on behalf of The Ross Family. This is certain to be quite a love-fest as both masterminds currently control all the gold in the IWF.
Also appearing February 25 are Shane O'Brien, Franciz, Antonio Rivera, Dan McGuire, Mike Durnin, Steve Camacho, Tommy Trouble, Frank Scoleri, Nick Gregory, Jason Roberts, Matt Bennett and more. There will be a fan raffle to win a free pair of tickets to the Spin Doctor's concert on February 26 in Sayreville, NJ. For information, visit www.WrestlingIWF.com. Cards subject to change.
Do not forget, the IWF's 10th Annual Reckless Abandon Anniversary Weekend takes place Saturday, March 24, 7:30 pm featuring WWE-ECW Superstar Stevie Richards, and Sunday, March 25, 4 pm featuring WWE Hall of Famer Tito Santana. Tickets can be purchased at IWF Centre during February Fury Weekend, or online at www.WrestlingIWF.com.
