Violent teen blames WWE On July 10th, a 19-year-old German teen, Steffen G., consumed 1 bottle of beer, 2 bottles of wine, and 1 bottle of chocolate liqueur then proceeded to murder a homeless man. Steffen G. now blames WWE’s “SmackDown vs. Raw 2006” video game (which is rated “T” for teens) as the reason for his actions. A WWE spokesman stated “Given Steffen G.’s history of violence and alcohol abuse, we believe his claims to be absurd.” Read the full story in this translated article.

Federal Judge Grants Motion to Add Rocawear to Pro Wrestling Champion, Diamond Dallas
LOS ANGELES, Dec. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- A federal judge granted a motion to add Rocawear owners Roc Apparel Group LLC, Urban Menswear LLC and Rocawear Licensing LLC to a trademark and copyright infringement suit filed by Professional Wrestler Diamond Dallas Page. The suit, originally filed December 2, 2005 , claims the hip-hop heavyweight has illegally adopted Page's trademark hand gesture the "Diamond Cutter" as his own.
The lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles Federal Court, accuses Jay-Z and Roc-A-Fella Records of trademark and copyright infringement as well as misappropriation of the hand symbol. Page is seeking an injunction (meaning Jay-Z would be prohibited from using the gesture) and unspecified monetary damages. Earlier this year, Diamond Dallas Page discovered that Jay-Z's clothing line, Rocawear, manufactured and sold merchandise displaying the diamond cutter symbol.
Page started using the hand sign to promote his persona on television while working for World Championship Wrestling in 1996. As his popularity increased, so did the recognition of the sign as his trademark, by fans, athletes and celebrities. As Page has moved on from wrestling to other entertainment and business ventures, he has continued to use the sign as a brand-building logo. Currently, his "Yoga For Regular Guys" DVD series and book, and his soon to be released "Own Your Life" motivational audio book feature the symbol.
The well-loved wrestler also says he used the symbol on PPV events, WCW live events, and media appearances, including The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Page goes on to assert that as his success as a wrestler grew, so did sales of his merchandise, including t-shirts, hats, stationary, posters and action figures, which featured the Diamond Cutter Trademark. The infringement claim also states that, "[m]any athletes and celebrities also flashed the Diamond Cutter sports celebration move. In Game 6 of the 1998 NBA finals against the Chicago Bulls, Karl Malone, the Utah Jazz star basketball player, flashed the Diamond Cutter Trademark during the game and referred to the symbol as Plaintiff's hand sign. Similarly, former professional football player and Dallas Cowboy star running back, Herschel Walker used the Diamond Cutter Trademark after a 64 yard touchdown run and also acknowledged that it was Plaintiff's signature trademark."

I'm making my annual trek back to the Midwest where I'll be hosting my
first ever book signing/wine tasting event. If you live in the
Chicago area mark your calendar for Thursday, December 21, 7 – 9 p.m.
I will be signing books at the Downers Grove Wine Shop (630/322-9100)
located at 1240 75th Ave. where a wine rep will share a variety of
favorite wines. Why a wine shop, you ask? Well, this particular shop
is owned by a friend, Julie Balsamo, who is an inspiration for my
romantic comedies. This girl always cracks me up! Come for wine and
books—which make great gifts!—and to meet Julie (who is cringing with
the pressure of making you laugh <G>.)
Wanted to let you know about my three books scheduled for release in
early 2007, starting with the first in my Blackwell Series: The
American Temp and the British Inspector. A serial killer is on the
loose in Chicago and former Scotland Yard Inspector Max Templeton is
the only one who can stop him. Will Max be able to conquer his
post-traumatic stress disorder and piece together the clues before
another college student is murdered? Sure he will, with help from his
sharp assistant, Cassie Clarke. Cassie, who has experienced her share
of violence, is determined to keep this a professional relationship.
But even the most determined woman can fall prey to love.
The other two books in the series are: The English Detective and the
Rookie Agent (Feb.), which takes place on the Oregon Coast, and Miss
Fairmont and the Gentleman Investigator, which is set in Scotland.

NYWC PRESS RELEASE: MANA WILL NOT BE APPEARING DEC.16th
Due to circumstances beyond our control Mana will not be appearing this Saturday, December 16. He is leaving the country to return to his native land of New Zealand and no further details are available as of the time being.

WORLD-1 Breaking News: Heartbreak Express to defend W-1 titles in Japan
Pro-Wrestling WORLD-1 are pleased to announce that the current WORLD-1 tag team champions The Heartbreak Express, Sean and Phil Davis, will be a part of the February 8-20 Pro-Wrestling ZERO1-MAX tour in Japan!
The Davis’ regained the W-1 tag team titles on November 25 in Valdosta, GA from The Nightmare and Cross Examiner thus insuring that they would be chosen over PWF Universal tag team champions King Kaluha and Larry Sweeney to represent WORLD-1 during the ZERO1-MAX tour.
Yoshiyuki Nakamura, First On Stage Vice-President, has told WORLD-1 Officials that The Heartbreak Express will be defending the titles (if they have them by February 8) against two to three different sets of challengers with the agreement that if a Japanese team does win the titles they will travel to the United States to defend them.
In 2002, Shinjiro Otani and Masato Tanaka traveled to the United States and captured the PWF Universal tag team titles from CW Anderson and Steve Corino and then in 2004 Ikuto Hidaka and Minoru Fujita upended Matt Striker and Josh Daniels for the titles. Could we be seeing more ZERO1-MAX stars invade WORLD-1???
