WWE.com posted a message that Smackdown! General Manager Teddy Long would make a huge announcement on the website at 3 PM. That huge announcement was part of an angle, the 'signing' of MVP - Montel Vontavious Porter. A fake press conference was set up and MVP signed a very thick contract. The 21 year old real name Antonio Banks was assigned to Deep South Wrestling before debuting on Smackdown! in early August.
