WWE Raw House Show
Saturday, June 17th, 2006
Ryan Center @ URI * Kingston, RI
Att:  4,000 estimate

Another solid house show with some very strong bouts.

Show opened with the opening to DX's theme song (ala
Eric Bischoff when he was Raw GM) followed by the
Monday Night Raw theme song

- Harry Smith def. Rob Conway
Smith pinned Conway with the running powerslam.  Crowd
didn't seem to know of Smith's family roots but were
into the match.  Hopefully WWE won't rush him onto
television and give him time to develop by working the
house shows.

- The Highlanders def. Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch
One of the Highlanders pinned Murdoch with a big splash
from the top.  After seeing them work two nights in a
row in longer, non-televised matches, Cade & Murdoch
work excellent together as a team.  Umaga attacked the
Highlanders on his way to the ring with Armando.

- Umaga def. Viscera
Umaga thumb'd Viscera to the throat and pinned him.

- Carlito def. Johnny Nitro (with Melina)
Nitro stole Carlito's t-shirt and put it on Melina,
then asking her to answer the question on t-shirt if
she spits or swallows.  Carlito was super over once
again and the two had a good match with Carlito going
over with the double knees to the back.

- Matt Striker came out for a Classroom interview
segment.  Same gimmick as Hartford last night where he
said Duggan was destroyed by Umaga on Raw and wouldn't
be there.  This time, Eugene came out and went back and
forth with Striker before informing him that Duggan was
indeed in Kingston.  After telling the fans to think
about the troops oversees, Duggan and Eugene used
Striker as a human punching bag.

- Randy Orton def. Kane
Kane was on the verge of victory until 1997 Kane made
his way to the ring.  After a stare down, 2006 Kane
clotheslined 1997 out of the ring but was hit with an
RKO for Orton's victory.  Post match, 1997 Kane
chokeslammed 2006.

Intermission

- Jonathan Coachman came out and proclaimed he was
there to make sure Raw remained number one.  When ECW
was mentioned it got a surprising amount of heel heat.
He then announced the main event that everyone already
knew about in a fashion that it was supposed to be a
"surprise."

- Candice Michelle & Mickie James def. Torrie Wilson &
Maria in a Bra & Panties Match
A disgrace.  With a million kids in the building, it
was strange to see them rushing the guardrails to give
five to Torrie & Maria half naked on their way to the
locker room.

- John Cena def. Edge in a No Holds Barred Match
Cena got another huge reaction but there were some
noticeable boos tonight, but still got, by far, the
strongest reaction of the night.  The two worked
another strong bout, no blood tonight though.  Cena
sent Edge into the ring steps with a step over toe hold
leading to the FU for the pin.

- Shawn Michaels & HHH def. Spirit Squad
DX came out to a big ovation and did their 1997 routine
with the old "for the thousands in attendance and
millions not watching all over the world."  DX sold
little for most of the match.  Squad got some heat on
Michaels, who made the hot tag to HHH and then played
human pinball.  Finish was a pedigree and superkick at
the same time.

- The Ryan Center is a nice, smaller venue but
impossible to find.  The sign leading to Rt. 2 to get
there is only visible on Rt. 2 itself, so if WWE runs
there again and you plan on going, allow yourself an
extra half hour to get lost.
