BILL BEHRENS NWA NOTES for 6-5-06

6/3 NWA Anarchy Report ..

By: Larry Goodman ..

NWA Anarchy ran their bimonthly television taping at the NWA Arena in Cornelia last night.

Attendance was 170, which was a bigger crowd than Anarchy drew for the big show, “Excessive Force,” two weeks ago, and way up from the May 6 TV taping. Likely this was on the strength of the Anarchy Rulz match between Ace Rockwell and Shaun Tempers, a grudge match if there ever was one.

Ironically, the heat was better for the first half, peaking with the pop for Adryan Hawkins’ rags-to-riches TV title win in the Mega Rumble.

Eddie Rich opened the show with the announcement that NWA Anarchy would be debuting on local television with an 11 am Saturday slot on Alltel cable channel 4 (debuting June 17). Wrestling in Cornelia hasn’t been seen locally since the early days of NWA Wildside.

(1) Urban Assault Squad (Shadow Jackson & Nemesis) & Slim J beat the Texas Wrestling Academy All-Stars (Skitzo & Hector Navarro & Big Dogg) in 10:28. The crowd popped huge for the introduction of their beloved UAS and then popped huger when J came through the curtain to complete the trio. Jackson was channeling the American Dream with his offense, simple but highly effective. As Nemesis beat up on Navarro, he was calling for Devil’s Rejects, who still have the title belt blingage belonging to UAS. Dog and J tagged in and we had our David and Goliath moment of the evening. Dog pie-faced him and J went wild. The crowd followed suit. Dog finally caught J with a hiptoss, and the Texans went to work on J’s leg. J rolled out of the way of a Vader-style reverse splash by Dog. Jackson took the hot tag, and it was bionic elbows all around. Nemesis busted out the Mr. Wrestling II kneelift. Jackson followed with a lariat, and Navarro was toast. Hot opener. The Texas contingent has stepped it up a notch.

Postmatch, Devil’s Rejects (Azrael and Dominous) hit the ring at the command of Dan Wilson. UAS sent them packing. Anarchy owner Jerry Palmer came out and asked Wilson what happened. Palmer said Wilson had a manager’s license, so he had a right to be there, but the other two freaks were banned from the building for the Anarchy Rulz match. UAS and J congratulated Palmer on his brilliant decision.

(2) Adrian Hawkins won a 12 man Mega Rumble to become the new NWA Anarchy Television Champion in 18:35. Rinauro started it out with a newcomer named Austin Creed, who has a great look and a world of potential. Creed’s gimmick is straight out of the Rocky series except he’s got Carlito’s hair. It’s actually an update on the character that Mike Jones did a generation ago in Memphis as “Soul Train” Jones in his pre-Virgil days. Creed did the splits and landed a haymaker on Rinauro. Hawkins was contestant number three. He entered with a high crossbody. Moments later, Rinauro ##### Hawkins with a german suplex. For the duration of the match, Hawkins would periodically make unsuccessful attempts to reenter the fray. Rinauro eliminated Creed with a springboard dropkick. Brandon P (“he doesn’t even work here!”) hit the ring in street clothes and dumped Rinauro. P decked two security guys before he was collared and dragged out of the building. Rich announced that Rinauro was still in the match. Unfortunately for Rinauro, by the luck of draw *cough*, Adam Roberts and T. C. Carnage (Alabama Attitude) were the next two to enter. They doubled on Rinauro until Patrick Bentley’s entrance evened the odds. The Alabamians decimated Bentley and were about to do the same to Rinauro when Seth Delay rode to their rescue. Bentley and Delay eliminated Roberts with a tandem lariat. They did skin-the-cats in stereo and were instantly eliminated by a duel lariat from Carnage. Jason Blackman returned from the injured list as contestant number eight, and he determined to make up for lost time. Blackman destroyed Hawkins. Blackman and Carnage launched Rinauro into the lights on a backdrop. A slimmed down (-20lb) Henry Hoss was next. Hoss was clubberin’ away and the crowd went nuts for it. Rudy Boy Gonzalez entered. His superkick must have super powers, because it hit Hoss in the stomach and still sent him flying over the top. Brett Thunder suffered a beatdown at the hands of the Texas guys before he ever got to the ring. He was easy pickings for Gonzalez. Rinauro used an atomic drop on Gonzalez, who took an amazing bump to the floor. It was down to Rinauro, Blackman and Hawkins. Blackman planted Hawkins with a spinebuster, and hit a vicious fireman’s carry neckbreaker on Rinauro. Blackman got Rinauro up on his shoulder. But Hawkins was in the way and got decked for the umpteenth time in the match. Rinauro nailed Blackman with a picture perfect springboard Pele kick. Spot of the match. The finish saw Blackman and Rinauro trying to hang onto the top rope as they battled on the apron. Blackman dumped Rinauro and reacted like he had won. The forgotten man, Hawkins, then blindsided Blackman with a dropkick, sending him to the floor. The crowd let out an ear-splitter of a pop for the finish. The celebration that followed was awesome. Hawkins was elated, as he made his way through the entire crowd getting hugs and high fives.

Intermission.

(3) Chad Parham beat Onyx (with Jeff G. Bailey) to retain the NWA Anarchy Heavyweight Title in 12:22. Parham lorded it over Onyx that he was the champ, a fact that didn’t sit well with “The Genetic Specimen.” Parham was able to stay one step ahead of Onyx in the early minutes. The first key spot was Parham applying the Texas Cloverleaf. Onyx managed to power out of it and toss Parham out of the ring. Bailey got in some cheap shots on Parham at ringside. Onyx punished Parham’s back with a knockdown Irish whip and a stalling vertical suplex. Onyx then started working on the neck. Parham went up and over Onyx and connected beautifully with a flying roundhouse kick. Both men down. Parham hit the senton backsplash for a near fall. Parham tried to the top rope double stomp, but Onyx had it scouted. Onyx hit the Angry Man Slam, but didn’t get all of it and Parham rolled a shoulder at two. Onyx tried to end it with the Blackout. Parham countered with an inside cradle. Onyx came back with one of his own. It looked like Onyx was going for a powerbomb, and Parham rolled through to score the pinfall. It might have been an aborted huracanrana. Whatever it was, it was not a good finish.

Parham called for the mic. Parham said the man on top was a target. But he had beaten them all. Out came Bailey with Mikal Adryan. Bailey said if he didn’t already know Parham was retarded, he would think he was delusional. Bailey said Parham never beat Adryan, since he needed outside help both times. Bailey said Adryan was coming for his belt. Parham and Adryan went nose-to-nose. Out came Jeff Lewis to a mixed response. Lewis said if it wasn’t for Adryan’s tall, goofy ass, he would be the champion. The appearance of Kory Chavis got a terrific pop. Chavis reminded all of them that he was the former and first NWA Anarchy Heavyweight Champion AND he never got his rematch. Parham said enough. He was the champion and he had stuff to do, so they could call him when they were done. Palmer sanctioned an impromptu three-way to determine the number one contender.

(4) Kory Chavis beat Jeff Lewis and Mikal Adryan (with Jeff G. Bailey) to become the number one contender for the NWA Anarchy Heavyweight Title in 12:00. Chavis got off to an explosive start with a balls-to-the-wall flip dive onto Adryan and Lewis. But Lewis gave Chavis a hotshot, which set up a partial Assisted Suicide by Adryan. Lewis thwarted Adryan’s pin attempt. They argued. Adryan leveled Lewis with a lariat. Chavis broke up the pin. Chavis landed a high kick to Adryan’s grill and Lewis saved. Adryan suplexed Lewis into the turnbuckles and Chavis saved. Chavis caught Lewis with the lariat from hell and Adryan saved. And so on. The work was good, but the heat seemed to flag as the round robin of big moves and pin attempts wore on. Finally, Adryan and Lewis agreed to a double team. Chavis came back with a flying double lariat, and all three men were left on the canvas. Chavis caught fire with lariats, bodyslams and backdrops. Lewis blocked the Spinesplitta and hit a torture rack drop. Lewis had Chavis’ shoulder down for more than a three count, but Bailey kept the ref from seeing it. Adryan nailed Lewis with the Mafia kick. But before he could move in for the kill, Chavis hit the Spinesplitta on Adryan, then pinned Lewis.

Adryan played sore loser and decked Chavis. Lewis wasn’t sure what to do. Bailey convinced Lewis that it was Chavis that cost him the match. Lewis joined Adryan in putting the boots to Chavis. Parham ran out with a chair to clear the ring. A tag match was made for 6/17: Adryan and Lewis vs. Chavis and Parham.

(5) Shaun Tempers (with Dan Wilson & Iceberg) beat Ace Rockwell in an Anarchy Rulz Match (18:54). This was a violent, tormented hell of a match. The conclusion was shockingly vile. Despite the extremeness of it all, and maybe because of it, there were points were it lagged. It never reached the magical lev of the Texas Tornado match at Excessive Force. Once again, Rockwell got the loudest, longest entrance pop of any babyface on the card. Rule were fans bring the weapons and anything goes. There was a cart full of plunder at ringside, just in case. Rockwell and Tempers went nose-to-nose. Rockwell said he was going to f*** Tempers up. Iceberg set up a row of chairs along the ramp. The ring wasn’t going to hold this one. Rockwell took a major leap off the rail and blasted Tempers with his cast. They climbed up into the announcer’s booth and teetered on top of the desk. Rockwell took a six foot drop on the rail. Back inside, Rockwell had a chair and Tempers had a hammer. Rockwell used the chair to separate Tempers from the hammer. The look of panic on Tempers’ face was priceless. Rockwell waffled Tempers with the chair. Tempers was busted wide open. Rockwell beat on Tempers with the chair. Rockwell grabbed a barbed wire bat and used it like a cheese grater on Tempers’ groin. Tempers made a comeback. Wilson let out the first of many blood curdling screams. Wilson said no mercy. Rockwell rallied with a missile dropkick for a near fall. Fan chanted “MORE WEAPONS.” A shelf of some kind found its way into the ring. Tempers gave Rockwell a DDT on the shelf. Rockwell took a cannonball bump into the propped up shelf. Tempers dumped a bag of tacks into to the ring. Not Abyss level tacks mind you, but still. Tempers went for a Tiger Driver, but Rockwell reversed it and backdropped Tempers onto the tacks. Rockwell broke a cane over Tempers’ head and jabbed the jagged edge into his forehead. Tempers whipped Rockwell with a strand of barbed wire. Tempers blasted Rockwell’s gut and back with a chair. Tempers got a two count. The fans called for tables. Tempers tried to take Rockwell’s head off with a chair. Rockwell ducked and the chair rebounded off the ropes into Tempers’ face. Rockwell gave Tempers a spinebuster on the chair. Wilson pulled ref Speedy Nelson out of the ring. Rockwell wanted Wilson in the worst way, but Iceberg stepped in between them, and Tempers clocked Rockwell from behind. The action moved to the ramp. Tempers teased putting Rockwell through the row of chairs with a Tiger Driver. Rockwell escaped and speared Tempers through the curtain. I couldn’t see what caused it, but Rockwell went flying off the ramp through the casket of chairs. Iceberg picked up Rockwell’s limp body and deposited it back into the ring. Hammer in hand, Tempers sandwiched a chair around Rockwell’s good arm (Rejects did the other arm in a similar manner five weeks ago). Wilson wasn’t satisfied. “Put it on his f****** head.” Tempers followed orders. Tempers smashed the hammer into the chair that was covering Rockwell’s head. Wilson let out a soulless wail. It was over. 1-2-3. Iceberg stood over Rockwell. Blood was seeping out of Rockwell’s forehead. Tempers was ready to do it again, when UAS, J and Palmer hit the ring. Security and both announcers came into the ring to check on Rockwell. Fans were ordered to leave building, so Rockwell could receive medical attention.

first off congrats to adrian hawkins on becoming anarchy tv champion last night, congratulations are also in order for two new wildside daddies- jeremy v and todd sexton (bodyslam this wishes both of the new families the best luck). finally welcome back to kory chavis who made his return to nwa anarchy last night!

Mega Rumble to determine the new Anarchy TV champion- Adrian Hawkins defeated 9 other guys to become the Anarchy TV champion for the first time. The match itself was not without a few interesting moments....a very mad at the world Brandon P stormed the ring and tossed Sal over the ropes, Sal was not eliminated because P was not an official member of the match. P was escorted rather forcefully from the building by security.....Hawkins who ended up winning the match spent the bulk of the match on the floor or attempting to climb into the ring...finally Hawkins drop kicked Jason Blackman out of the ring to win the match and the belt.

Anarchy Heavyweight Title match- Chad Parham retained his title over Onyx. Post match Chad Parham took to the mic and told the crowd he had defeated all comers for his belt and that he knew two individuals who wouldn’t come for his belt- Mikal Adryan and Jeff Lewis, enter Adryan with Jeff G. Bailey. Jeff G. reminded Parham that he had never pinned Adryan winning the belt the first time via a ladder and the second victory he held over the One Man Mafia was due to Jeff Lewis getting involved, enter the Feature Presentation. Lewis and Adryan faced off until another entrance theme hit, the returning Kory Chavis who reminded all 3 men and the crowd that he was the first Anarchy heavyweight champion and never got his rematch. Parham told all 3 that he was the champion and that they could call him once they figured out who the number one contender was...
Kory Chavis defeated Mikal Adryan and Jeff Lewis to become the number one contender for the Anarchy heavyweight title....Chavis didnt have much time to celebrate because Adryan and Lewis began to assault him post match until Chad Parham made the save.
scheduled for the next tv taping- Chad Parham & Kory Chavis vs Mikal Adryan and Jeff Lewis!

Main event- Shaun Tempers completely destroyed Ace Rockwell with some assistance from Iceberg and a lot of crazy weapons brought in by the fans in the Anarchy Rules match up. No word on Rockwell's condition at press time but his injuries were severe enough post show to clear the building of everyone in attendance...update when available.

The next Anarchy TV taping is scheduled for June 17th!
Anarchy will debut on Alltel channel 4 on June 17th!
MAXW will have a show on June 24th in Williamston!

6/2 Wrestle Birmingham Report

By: Larry Goodman

Samoa Joe returned to action at the NWA Wrestle Birmingham show in Irondale, Alabama last night and came within an eyelash of winning the NWA Alabama heavyweight title from Jesse James. One unlikely new champion was crowned, as Daffney became the junior champion by defeating El Mexicano with the help of Robert Fuller.

Wrestle Birmingham drew a disappointing house of 350 to their home base at Zamora Temple for an OK show. The undercard stuff featuring the legends was kept short with plenty of story, so that worked out fine. Unfortunately, the wrestling on top of the card did not compare favorably to recent Wrestle Birmingham events, and realistically, there was no way it could. On the plus side, they did a better job with angles and storylines to set up matches for the return date of July 14.

Judging from the times on these matches, it doesn’t look like a three hour deal. Suffice to say, there was a lot of mic work (always a strong point of here) and two healthy intermissions.

(1) Mike Jackson beat Patrick Bentley in 6:30. Bentley, a small guy with an incredible body, is known as “The Human Action Figure” in NWA Anarchy. He’s better than he showed here. Jackson does as much athletically as any 55 year-old wrestler around, but Bentley looked tight, and his selling and bumping lacked pizzazz. Jackson did his ropes walk spot. Bentley tried to play copy cat and ended up crotched on the top rope. Jackson gave him a ride. Bentley used a powerslam and an enzuigiri for near falls. Bentley dumped Jackson and brawled on the outside. When Bentley telegraphed a backdrop, Jackson planted him with a DDT to spark a comeback. Both down again on a Jackson neckbreaker and again, on a reverse DDT. Jackson blocked a suplex and hit a swinging fisherman suplex to score the pinfall.

(2) Doug Gilbert beat Adam Roberts in 3:05. I’m not a big Doug Gilbert fan, but I enjoyed him here, and he got over well as a force to be reckoned with on the heel side. Gilbert got easy heat talking about how Tennessee always stomped Alabama and Auburn in football. Doug his brother, Eddie and his daddy, Tommy never liked a soul from Alabama and he was no different. Gilbert said just because it was a temple, that don’t make it safe for his opponent. He threatened to stick his baseball bat down the guy’s throat. Roberts isn’t what I would call a natural as a babyface, not that it was an issue in this situation. Roberts got off to fast start with the 10 punches in the corner, but he soon walked into a superkick. Gilbert hit a piledriver and made a super nonchalant cover that gave Roberts time to get a foot on the ropes. Roberts fired back. Not for long, though, as Gilbert dropped him on his head with a Michinoku driver. Gilbert demanded some competition.

(3) Adrian Street (with Miss Linda) beat “Wildthing” Will Owens in 6:33. On any given wrestling road trip, there’s usually a moment of peak entertainment when I know it was worth the drive. Tonight, it came during this match. They found the ideal opponent for Street in the “Wildthing.” His over-the-top reactions to Street’s schtick were off the chart. A fan tossed Street a baby bottle which he proceeded to stuff into Owens mouth. Street stretched Owens with holds that the current generation of wrestlers don’t use. Owens resorted to a low blow to get control. Owens used cheap, ugly short cuts. Linda complained. Owens told her to stay out of this and went about his business. Linda got on the apron. Owens brought her in the ring. Linda used a low blow and bashed Owens with her purse. Ref Mike Pedey never saw a thing. Street pounced on Owens for the three count. Owens broke down in tears as he headed back to the dressing room.

Michael St. John introduced his broadcast partner, Ronnie P. Gossett, to the crowd. St. John mentioned that Gossett had managed Undertaker, Shawn Michaels and Jerry Lawler and was once banned on ESPN. Gossett hurled insults at the crowd. Gossett claimed that it took a lot of money to lure him to “the sewer of the South” and said the fans were all morons. Gossett has had a lot of health problems but he was looking pretty spry here.

(4) Daffney (with Robert Fuller) beat El Mexicano to win the NWA Wrestle Birmingham Junior Title in 7:09. This match had some twisted heel vs. heel psychology. Mexicano had won the title from Jackson on the previous WB show with the aid of Daffney and Fuller. Turns out he was merely a immigrant pawn in their grand scheme. Jackson came out to do color commentary. Daffney outwrestled Mexicano, including a snap suplex and a spinning headscissors. Mexicano was automatic heel once he did an impact move on a woman. But Fuller topped him, as he relished the opportunity to give Mexicano a fiendish beating on the outside. Fuller gave Mexicano a piledriver on the floor. Jackson got in Fuller’s face. Fuller tossed Mexicano back in. Daffney was waiting with a fistful of powder to Mexicano’s face (same way Mexicano beat Jackson). 1-2-3.

The postmatch was great. Jackson stooged off the finish. Stud’s Stable members Elix Skipper and McNasty hit the ring and all four of them thrashed Jackson. Daffney planted one foot on Jackson’s chest and hoisted the belt over her head. Fuller cut a promo surrounded by Stud’s Stable to set up Daffney vs. Jackson for 7/14. Fuller called Daffney his Million Dollar Baby.

Intermission numero uno.

(5) Butcher Hayes beat Loverboy in 2:58. Loverboy was wearing a mask to hide his identity. Everyone knows its Lee Thomas, who lost a Loverboy Leaves Town match against Dennis Condrey back in August 2005, but the dude just won’t take the hint. This match started in the aisle. Once inside the ring, Loverboy was all over Hayes with rapid fire kicks to the gut. A slingshot suplex by Loverboy barely made contact. The action spilled to ringside where Hayes dropped Loverboy’s throat on the rail. Hayes charged into the corner and took a flying crotch bump. The ref, who had the best bald mullet this side of Bob Ryder, got bumped. Loverboy had Hayes in a half-assed roll up when Condrey clubbed him from behind. Hayes covered for the three count.

Loverboy stormed the heel dressing room. The sounds of objects crashing against skulls could be heard. Loverboy retreated with Condrey stalking him and all of Stud’s Stable backing him up.

(6) Ricky Morton beat “Mr. Motivation” Jimmy Powell via DQ in 4:20. The psychology behind Powell’s gimmick is an awesome fusion of old school and cutting edge. Powell told the people he loved them. Powell said he was there to help Morton. He offered to repackage Morton’s tired teeny bopper image. Morton wasn’t happy about it. Powell tried to buddy up to Morton. “You don’t get it. I like you.” Morton’s body language implied that Powell was #####. Powell said, “I want you to be more like me.” With that, Powell clocked Morton with his briefcase and senior official, Roy George called for the bell. Powell thumbed Morton in the eye and dropped an elbow. The crowd got behind Morton. Powell thumbed him again. Morton rolled away from a pair of elbow drops. George got bumped. Powell used a foreign object, but Morton kicked out. Powell climbed to the top rope. Morton cut him off. Powell took a big bump and begged. The ref stepped in. Powell threw a fireball at Morton and a good one at that. Morton was clutching at his chest as George helped him to the back.

(7) McNasty (with Robert Fuller) beat Tommy Rich in 9:24. Rich wore jeans and a black, sleeveless t-shirt. He had his knuckles and wrists taped. He didn’t look heavier than the last time I saw him, but he was more hunched over. The crowd popped when Rich did his “somebody say something about fired up” catch phrase. McNasty laughed. Rich responded with a fist in the face. When McNasty tried to cheat, Rich spun him around (sorta) and delivered an atomic drop (sorta). McNasty ate a lariat and backed off. McNasty decked Rich on the break. Fuller choked Rich with a towel. Rich fired back as he sat on the apron. They brawled into the seating area. The crowd, which had been pretty quiet, started getting into it. Rich used a chair and McNasty was bleeding profusely. Rich rammed McNasty’s head into the bell and punched him with the mic. Rich mounted the ropes for the 10 punches, but quit after eight. Rich took McNasty down with the gentlest Thesz Press in wrestling history. Fuller got up on the apron. McNasty went for a schoolboy. Rich kicked out. While ref Mike Pedey was dealing with Fuller, McNasty used a gimmick on Rich. Fuller called McNasty “The Legend Killer.”

Rich apologized to the fans. Rich said he was an ass kicker from way back and vowed to bring everything but the kitchen sink next time. Rich said he would wrestle a midget or a girl the next time if he had to, but he warned McNasty. “You better be lookin’ over your back, because I’m coming.”

(8) Dennis Condrey beat Lash LeRoux in 5:41. A good number of ringside fans greeted Condrey with the “we’re not worthy” bow. He’s earned it via some awesome performances in this building over the last year. The thing that separates Condrey from most legends is that he can still go. The crowd broke out the dueling chants. Condrey started out like he was going to wrestle fair and square, but you just knew that wouldn’t last long. It didn’t. Condrey beat up on LeRoux and gave him a thumb thrust to the throat. They brawled at ringside. LeRoux started getting the best of it, so Condrey got back in the ring. LeRoux stayed on the attack with a pair of knockdown lariats and a dropkick. LeRoux put Condrey in a fireman’s carry. Condrey grabbed the ropes to escape and rolled LeRoux up using the ropes for leverage.

The masked Loverboy jumped Condrey. They had a wild pull apart involving four ref, Roy Lee Welch and help from the back. It wasn’t as effective as their previous brawls because the crowd had just seen McNasty/Rich do much the same thing. Nevertheless, fans were chanting for a cage match again, and this time they’re going to get it on 7/14.

(9) Elix Skipper & David Young (with Robert Fuller) beat A. J. Steele & Cassidy Riley to retain the NWA Alabama Tag Team Titles in 7:10 Zero pop for Riley and Steele. This was slated as reunion of the Hotshots, but Air Paris suffered an injury and Steele (a big black guy from Great Championship Wrestling in Columbus) was a late substitution. I doubt Hotshots would have meant much in Birmingham in any case. Riley ran wild with hiptosses. He hiptossed the heels, his partner, and ref Mike Pedey. That got a pop. Steele did an impressive power move that like a mini-Black Hole Slam. Riley escaped from Skipper’s infamous kick to the spine. Skipper shut down the babyface dominance with a springboard spinkick to get heat on Riley. Young draped Riley’s gut over the top rope and Skipper nailed him with a guillotine legdrop to the neck. Young got a near fall with a basement dropkick. Riley hit a handspring double back elbow and made the hot tag. Steele hit a belly to belly suplex on Skipper and Young saved. Steele hit a spiral uranage and Young saved again. Young hit the spinebuster on Steele and Riley broke up the pin. Young took Riley out with a hotshot. Skipper and Young hit a doubleteam faceplant on Steele and Skipper made the pin.

Fuller cut a promo putting his team over as only he can do. Fuller called them the greatest tag team in the history of Alabama, and said there wasn’t a team in the world that could take them. Fuller mentioned the Armstrong family as the likely challengers for the tag titles.

Intermission numero dos. There was a long line for autographs and pictures with Rich.

(10) “Roaddog” BG James beat Samoa Joe to retain the NWA Alabama Heavyweight Title at 8:24 when referee Roy George reversed his decision due to outside interference. James came out to the DX theme music and did his “Welcome to the Dogg House” routine, closing with two words for Joe. Whether by design or necessity, Joe was clearly not at full throttle in this match. Joe brought James to his knees in the knuckle lock but James used shoulder blocks to the gut to get the advantage. Joe blasted James with a shoulder tackle, and James took a time out to rethink things. Joe laughed like he knew this was going to be a piece of cake. Joe gave a nod to McNasty, who was out at the desk doing color commentary. James tried to get cute with the Shake, Rattle and Roll, and Joe almost took his face off with a kick. Joe whipped James into the corner and hit a climbing knee. James collapsed onto his face. Joe applied a variation of the camel clutch. Joe leveled James with a stiff back elbow. Joe made a back cover and James grabbed the ropes. Joe hit a powerslam for a near fall. James began to answer Joe’s punches. Joe staggered. James landed the Shake, Rattle and Roll. James hit the Crazy Legs Kneedrop for a near fall. McNasty got up to complain. James ventured over to the ropes and McNasty gave him a hotshot. Joe rolled James up for the pin. Joe held up the belt and was announced as the new champion. NWA Official, Roy Lee Welch came out and told George what had happened. George grabbed the belt from Joe and raised James’ hand. Joe threw a fit and accosted Welch. James said he wanted McNasty on 7/14. “Your ass is grass, and I’m gonna smoke it.”

NOTES: Wrestle Birmingham returns to Zamora on 7/14 with Condrey vs. Thomas in a cage, James vs. McNasty for Alabama title, Daffney vs. Jackson for the Junior title and Powell vs. Morton. Condrey vs. Jerry Lawler headlines the Wrestle Birmingham show on 6/9 in Sheffield which is right next to Condrey’s home town of Florence, Alabama…Wrestle Birmingham TV airs at 11:30 pm Saturday nights in Birmingham on WB-21…Southern Championship Wrestling has a big legends show in Anniston on 6/10 featuring Buff Bagwell vs. Lex Luger, Tito Santana vs. Greg Valentine, Midnight Express, Larry Zbyszko, Demoltion Ax and Rick Steiner…CWA also has a legends show on 6/10 in Selmer, Tn featuring Rich vs. Gilbert and Lawler vs. Don Bass.

NWA CENTRAL STATES 6/2

Reed Benson reporting...

And here we go again with another live report from Central States Wrestling
in Lawrence, Kansas.  This time around, CSW presented “Deliver Us From Evil”
yesterday (June 2nd) at the National Guard Armory, and there were about 275
people on hand to see the Kansas debut of Christopher Daniels.

The show started with a tag match.  Domino Rivera and “Mr. Saturday Night”
Michael Barry beat Corwin Star and “Krow” Craig Keesman when Rivera used a
super Flatliner on Star.  Good little opener, nothing overly special.

CSW owner Joe Mack came out to thank everyone for supporting the promotion.
He announced that the NWA Central States title, which Raven one in August of
last year and has made one defense since, had been declared vacant.  The new
champion will be decided next month in a round robin tournament between the
three top contenders: former champion Derek Stone, current Kansas champion
Mark Sterling and #1 contender Michael Strider.

Pauld Diamond defeated Hype Gotti w/ Steve Girthy with a shooting star
press.  A lot of highspots by Diamond, and some good crowd taunting by6
Gotti.

“The Specialist” Mason Hunter pinned “Wild” Wade Chism with a spear.  Both
of these guys have worked extensively for Harley Race’s WLW group, and they
were great together.  They hit each other hard and did a number of suplexes.
A few people told me that this match surprised them.

“Showtime” Darrien Sanders beat “Heatseeker” Tony Morales.  Boy, did he
ever.  This match was almost all Darrien.  Apparently, they’re trying to
keep him very strong off of his loss to A.J. Styles last month.  He busted
out a lot of kicks and a double stomp, and got the win with a Tombstone
piledriver variation that was similar to Justin Credible’s.

Michael Strider w/ “Superstar” Steve Fender defeated “#1” Brett Young w/
Hype Gotti.  This is the renewal of a feud from about a year and a half ago,
only with the roles reversed; Young’s the heel, Strider’s the face.  Well,
he’s more like a “tweener” that leans towards being a face.  He’s still
aggressive and takes shortcuts, but he’s fighting heels and the crowd loves
him.  Gotti interfered, so Fender did the same.  Young’s chest was very red
from being chopped.  Strider got the flash pin with an O’Conner roll and a
handful of tights.

In the first upset of the night, Dingo beat “Classic” Colt Cabana with a
body scissors.  Anyone who’s seen Colt wrestle knows that he does a lot of
comedy.  Dingo has done his fair share, as well, so when these two got
together, hilarity ensued.  One bit, for example, featured Dingo get Colt in
an arm wringer and maneuver his middle finger towards and into his nose.
Colt then tried to put it in Dingo’s nose, but Dingo dodged and it hit the
turnbuckle.  Then they both avoided hitting that turnbuckle until the
referee accidentally went face-first into it.  This got a “Booger Head”
chant.  As for the wrestling, Colt showed his new-found British style and
Dingo adapted to it well enough that he got the pinfall.

NWA Kansas champion Mark Sterling w/ Sassy Merlot defeated Derek Stone by
submission.  Stone came out and read from the NWA Rule Book that a match
couldn’t reach a decision until both competitors were in the ring and the
bell had sounded.  Sterling came out for his first appearance since turning
heel smoking a cigarette and wearing sunglasses.  Merlot, making her first
appearance in CSW, carried his belt.  Stone attacked Sterling in the
entranceway and beat him up on the floor for a few minutes.  Joe came out
and made him get in the ring, playing off their mini-feud.  Sterling took
over by working on Stone’s shoulder, which he continued throughout the
match.  Stone had a flurry of offense before being locked in a Stretch
Muffler and tapping.  Afterwards, Tyler Cook, Mark’s former protégé whom he
beat up last month, ran into the ring and attacked him.  Mark escaped before
he took any major shots, though.

In the main event, we had our second upset of the night when “The Rebel”
Jeremy Wyatt w/ Steve Girthy pinned “Fallen Angel” Christopher Daniels.
Unlike last month, where there were dueling chants for A.J. and Sanders,
the crowd was almost entirely pro-Daniels, which was expected.  Wyatt
controlled a great deal of this match and kept up with Daniels.  Daniels hit
the Arabian press and the “Best Moonsault Ever”.  Wyatt did a running
plancha and a great spinning slam.  Both men went for Angel’s Wings, and
both were countered.  The ref got bumped, so Wade Chism ran in and kicked
Daniels in the back of the head.  Wyatt hit a lariat, but only got two.
Chism distracted the ref enough for Daniels to only get a two count on a
school boy.  Finally, Wyatt got a chain from Girthy and hit Daniels with it
to get the three count.  Afterwards, Daniels “congratulated” Wyatt on
beating him, but said that he’d be back next month to get revenge on all of
Girthy Enterprises.

Overall, this was probably CSW’s best all-around show, with every match
accomplishing what it needed to, while also providing solid action.  And
Cabana vs. Dingo was off-the-charts hilarious.  Next month, CSW returns to
Lawrence with the round robin tournament for the vacant NWA Central States
title, plus Christopher Daniels vs. Jeremy Wyatt round 2.  For more info, go

By NWA Tri-State Reporter

June 3,2006,  NWA Tri-State returned to Parkersburg, WV in front of a small crowd of 95 screaming hot fans. Those fans got to see 6 great matches with the return of one shocking person.

In the opening match

D.J. Skittles took on J.T. Hogg in a good opening match of to big men where though most of the match JT dominated Skittles, but as Hogg went for his big frate train squash in the corner and Skittles moved and got a role-up for the pin.

D.J. Skittles won via role-up on J.T. Hogg

In the 2nd match of the night

Chris Kahn brought out he got on the microphone and was going on about his July 4th match with Juggulator and called him out for a match tonight. We all new Juggulator was not there do to a prier booking, but then we hear Da Juggulator music hits and the next thing was see is Kahn’s manager Scooter come on with a black t-shirt with 108 painted on it and Scooter wearing face paint and a red bandana. He gets in the ring and as the referee calls for the bell Kahn pokes Scooter in the eye’s and gets a quick pin, then promoter Richard Arpin informs Kahn that this will not be his only match. Arpin informs the announcer to Kahn’s next opponent is Super Oprah Mustafa. Kahn goes nuts as Mustafa comes out and does not want to work this person. But the match went on and for the most part Mustafa controlled the match, but in the end Kahn got the cheap pin on Mustafa,

Chris Kahn beats Scooter as Da Juggulator and Super Oprah Mustafa both via pin fall.

In the 3rd match of the night

“Awesome” Allen Lynch (formally Mr. X) & Deacon Knight took on the former NWA Tri-State tag team Champions G.A.Y.

There is nothing I can say about this match. If you have seen GAY work you understand this match. GAY got the win via pin fall
