The JPC is an annual sixteen man tournament to honor the late Jeff Peterson. Jeff was an independent cruiserweight wrestler considered now to be ahead of his time. Peterson wrestled mainly for IPW Hardcore and ECWA (he is the nephew of ECWA promoter Jim Kettner) but wrestled throughout the country.

Then, at the age of 18 in early 2000, Jeff was diagnosed with Non- Hodgkin's Lymphoma. He went into remission and was poised for a comeback, but he would then relapse. Then, in November 2002, Jeff lost his battle with cancer at the age of 21.

From this tragedy, The Jeff Peterson Memorial Cup was started in 2003 and continues to get bigger and better each year. The two day tournament not only showcases the best cruiserweights from around the world, but each year we are able to help our community as well by donating the profits to a local charity, with this year's charity being the Boys and Girls Club of Pinellas Park.

FPWA Promoter Ken Ward had this to say regarding Peterson Cup 2006; “It is an honor and privilege to co-promote The Jeff Peterson Cup 2006 along with Ron Niemi and his great crew at Pro Wrestling Warfare. I did not have the privilege to know Jeff personally; however through the stories of the people who did, it only confirms what a remarkable young man he was. This tournament is Jeff’s legacy and anything I can do to advance his legacy would be an honor.

Jeff always liked to work with and help out the local kids so we thought the proceeds from the shows should benefit children. We were able to make arrangements with The Boys and Girls Club of Pinellas for them to be the beneficiary of this year’s tournament. The Boys and Girls Club is a great place for kids to go after school and during school breaks for supervised activities. This way they are not at home alone or out running the streets. Kevin Winslow the director has assured us the money will be used to buy new equipment for the kids.”

There are some intriguing first round matches to be sure. Add that to a Night One Main Event of Daniels vs Strong, plus Chris Kanyon vs Billy Kidman for Night 2, and you can see this is shaping up to be one of the biggest events of the year.

And as always, there will be other big surprises and bonus matches.
