Funk's Corner - Wrestlemania 22
Twenty two years after participating in Wrestlemania 2 teamed with my brother, Terry Funk against Junkyard Dog and Tito Santana comes Wrestlemania 22.
Wrestlemania is the biggest event in professional wrestling. the math is easy, If a million people by Wrestlemania, that is a million times fifty or fifty million dollars.
Six wrestlers who trained under the Dory Funk Method of professional wrestling are participants in the show, Kurt Angle, Edge, Lita, Mickie James, Matt Hardy and Mark Henry.
Matt Hardy faces the toughest challenge participating in a six man Money in the Bank Ladder Match. In Matt's favor is the fact that he grew up wrestling in North Carolina backyard wrestling before coming to the Funking Dojo to participate in the Dory Funk Method of professional wrestling.
Mark Henry even though he is the strongest man in the world, one of the largest athletes in the world and has the coordination and leaping ability to cram a basketball will find it tough going against the experience of the "Dead Man" in a casket match.
Mickie James will get her chance to take the one thing Trish Stratus values most, the WWE Women's Championship. Mickie will have the chance to topple the most decorated Women’s Champion in history and walk out with the gold.
Edge with Lita is in the most dangerous match on the card in facing Mick Foley for the Hardcore Championship. If Lita gets involved Mick Foley is not in any way above hitting a woman in the arena of professional wrestling. They may battle with tables, ladders, chairs and other ringside foreign objects, but a dirty sweat soaked smelly white cotton sock could make a difference.
WWE World Champion Kurt Angle defends his belt in a Triple Threat Match against Randy Orton and Rey Mysterio. As a gold medal winner in the Olympics and an alumni of the Dory Funk Method of professional wrestling, Kurt has to be the favorite but in professional wrestling, nothing is for sure as WWE presents Wrestlemania 22.
Rob Van Dam is a special friend of ours here at the Funking Conservatory. RVD is in the Money in the Bank match and we wish him well in the biggest match for RVD since returning from surgery on his knee more than a year ago. RVD is the favorite to win the Money in the Bank match which last year earned Edge a successful shot at the World Championship.
