AN UPDATE ON THE NATURALS’ CHASE STEVENS

This past Tuesday at the “iMPACT!” tapings in Orlando, Florida, The Naturals’ Chase Stevens sustained a broken neck during a tag team bout against Lex Lovett and Buck Quartermain. During an attempted flip, Chase mistimed the move and came crashing down on his head and neck. Stevens gutted it out through the rest of the bout and was taken to a local Orlando hospital following the match.

Doctors told Stevens he suffered what is known as an “Avulsion Fracture” of the C5 and C5 vertebrae, as well as a herniated C4. An avulsion fracture occurs when a ligament or tendon attached to a bone pulls away part of the bone. In terms of severity of the injury, Stevens suffered the mildest form of trauma associated with a broken neck. In other words, the TNA star is extremely lucky it wasn’t worse.

Doctors informed Stevens he would be able to return to action as soon as the tingling was gone and there was no pain when he moved his neck side to side. As of Friday, Stevens was already pain-free. However, doctors would like the star to wait another week before stepping back into the ring. The usual recovery time for such an injury is 3-6 weeks, but athletes like Chase can recover much faster.

When contacted by www.TNAwrestling.com, Chase Stevens had the following message for the fans:

“Well, as everyone knows I have a broken neck. It’s not as bad as one may think, but trust me it could have been much, much worse. My C5 and C6 vertebrae are fractured and it’s going to take a few weeks to heal. A lot of people are wondering what it feels like to have something like this happen to you. Well, to be honest I wasn’t thinking of being hurt when it happened - I was thinking of how to get on my feet and finish my match. It wasn’t until I made the tag to Andy that I had that extra second to realize I couldn’t feel my hands and my back was slowly starting to tingle. I went for The Natural Disaster, only to drop poor Buck on his head and pin him. I sucked it up and made it to the curtain before showing pain of any sort. Today is a new day and I feel a lot better - I have gained all feeling back in my hands and back. I can move my head up and down and side to side. I’m a little sore, but I landed on my head for crying out loud! I’m supposed to be sore...lol I do feel about 95% and feel that I could wrestle now if the doctors would let me. I will be back for the Genesis PPV, so don’t worry I’m not out for long. Thanks you all for your concerns and support it means a lot to me!”
