NYWC CHAMPIONSHIP

Grim Reefer   vs   Jerry Lynn (c)

Since the end of his lengthy championship reign in the latter half of 2004, Grim Reefer has been noticeably absent from the NYWC title picture, having spent the majority of his time competing against rookie high-fliers such as Plazma and Javi-Air.  However, these physical matchups against the NYWC's elite youngsters may have been just what Reefer needed to prepare himself for this opportunity, as he faces one of the pioneers of TNA's X Division, the reigning NYWC Champion Jerry Lynn!  Lynn is no stranger to the high-risk style favored by many of today's stars, and expects to fare well against Reefer's aerial attack.  However, Grim Reefer is also known for his ability to grind his opponents down with tremendous mat wrestling and an arsenal of submission maneuvers.  This should prove to be one of the most competitive battles of the year!

NYWC INTERSTATE CHAMPIONSHIP

Xavier   vs   Amazing Red (c)

When Amazing Red became the NYWC Interstate Champion on August 27, it was assumed that he would quickly become a marked man.  But before he could even wipe the sweat off his brow, Red's old nemesis Xavier made his presence known, coming from out of nowhere and assaulting the new champ.  Then, on October 8, Xavier once again launched a surprise attack, foiling Red and Ultimo Dragon in a tag team match against Quiet Storm and Josh Daniels.  Now, as Xavier steps into the ring in his NYWC debut, he will no longer have the element of surprise on his side, as Red seeks to defend his title and rid himself of his arch enemy.  Clearly, Xavier has the size advantage in this match, but Red has proven time and time again that his pure athleticism and agility can overcome even the largest opponents.  Red has beaten Xavier in the past, but it is quite possible that Xavier has learned a few new tricks since their last meeting.  How will this intriguing matchup play out?

NYWC TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP

S.A.T.   vs   Team Tremendous (c)

Team Tremendous has risen quickly to the top of the tag ranks, impressively taking down teams such as the Dead Presidents and the duo of Brett Matthews & Brian Myers to get there.  However, the wacky pair of Dan Barry and Ken Scampi has yet to face one of pro wrestling's most established tag teams... the S.A.T.  Brothers Joel and Jose Maximo have been a solid -- if not dominating -- tag team here in the NYWC since their arrival in early 2005, and they will finally have a chance to wear gold when they face off against the champs on October 29.  How will Team Tremendous, who have only been tag partners for a few months, fare against the veteran Spanish Announce Team?  Plus, will Barry and Scampi be looking over their shoulders for the Dead Presidents, who last month knocked their manager Tara Charisma unconscious?  Will Tara even be at ringside?  Team Tremendous has a number of obstacles to overcome, and although they have been successful thus far in defending the titles, they may need to dig a bit deeper if they hope to stave off the highly-focused S.A.T.

Rob Eckos   vs   Plazma

Over the past few months, Rob Eckos and Plazma have both risen through the ranks in the NYWC, finding success in different ways.  Eckos, previously pigeonholed as the tag team partner of the WWE-bound Matt Striker, appeared in two straight NYWC main events, and was recently victorious in a raucous 4-way match.  Plazma, one of his opponents in that match, has found notoriety by working his way up the ladder until he competed side-by-side with Team 3D in September.  Now, these two rising stars are looking to knock the other down a notch and keep the momentum toward the top in full swing.                     CARD SUBJECT TO CHANGE

This Thursday night, New England Championship Wrestling (NECW) and Sporting News Radio in Boston – 1510 The Zone – will make history by joining forces to present a special NIGHT OF CHAMPIONS, a live professional wrestling event and live radio broadcast to benefit victims of Hurricanes Katrina & Rita, on Thursday night, October 27 at Good Time Emporium, 30 Assembly Square Drive, Somerville, MA.

Bell time for the wrestling event will be 8:00 PM.  Beginning at 9:00 PM, the NIGHT OF CHAMPIONS event will be broadcast live in the Boston area on 1510 The Zone and via streaming audio worldwide on 1510thezone.com.  This marks the first time in over 50 years that professional wrestling will be broadcast live on radio in the Boston market.  NECW President, Sheldon Goldberg, NECW TV host "Strangler" Steve King and Tim Weisberg, wrestling columnist for The Boston Metro and the New Bedford Standard-Times will call the action from ringside.  NECW has established itself as the most innovative promotion in the industry - first by introducing the first original weekly pro wrestling television program produced specifically for the Internet, and now with this venture into broadcast radio.

The stars of New England Championship Wrestling will be out in force and an unprecedented five championship matches will top the card.

In the main event, the new NECW Heavyweight Champion, "The Pinnacle" Paul Lombardi, will make his first title defense against former NECW Television Champion and IRON 8 finalist, Joe Chece.

"The Egomaniac" Johnny Idol will defend his NECW Television Championship against former NECW Heavyweight Champion, "Revolution" Chris Venom.

The NECW Tag Team Championship will be decided as current champions, The A List (Mark Bourne & Andre Lyonz) defend against former two-time tag team champions, The Logans (Matt & Bryan).

The new NECW Women's Champion, Violet Flame makes her first title defense on the NIGHT OF CHAMPIONS, as she puts her newly won crown on the line against Nikki Roxx.

It will be a special International Challenge Match, as the pride of Ireland, British Commonwealth Champion, Fergal Devitt will defend the championship he recently regained against former two time NECW Heavyweight Champion, “Brutal” Bob Evans.

In other bouts, it will be a tag team grudge match, former two time NECW Tag Team Champions, PRIDE (Dan Frietas & Brian Nunes) collide with The Hot Shots (Bryce Andrews & B.K. Jordan).  The Hot Shots have frustrated PRIDE in their previous encounters, but this time the bout will be held under PRIDE Rules, better knows as a street fight.  Anything goes and anything can happen in this battle.

"The Epic" Mike Bennett will see action taking on "Straight Edge" Brian Fury in a special challenge match.

In a special 8 man tag team challenge, all three members of D-Unit (Doug Summers, Rocco Abruzzi and Clip O'Reilly) team with "The Brooklyn Bomber" Tony Montana to take on the team of Sonny Goodspeed, Sid Momentum, Jon Thornhill and K. L. Murphy.

Former NECW Heavyweight Champion, "Big Guns" Frankie Arion battles Pat Masters in a special challenge match.

In a special tag team challenge match, AFTERBURN (Ray Diamond & P.C. Cruz) face perhaps their toughest challenge to date as they collide with three time NECW Tag Team Champions, SABOTAGE (D.C. Dillinger and "Die Hard" Eddie Edwards).

All this, plus more bouts will be on tap.  Make sure you make plans to join us for this historic event for a great cause.  Join us live in person or listen live at 9 PM Eastern on www.1510thezone.com. Tickets for the NIGHT OF CHAMPIONS are on sale now at all Strawberries locations.  For more information, or to order online now visit www.NECWwrestling.com.

To see NECW action anytime, watch NECW TV, the original weekly wrestling television program produced specifically for the Internet, availble free, on demand and worldwide at www.NECW.tv.

NWA Upstate/Kayfabe Dojo present- "Monster's Brawl '05"
Date - Saturday, October 29th, 2005
Location - All Star Sports Arena, 557 East Ridge Road, Rochester, NY
Belltime - 6:30PM
Tickets- $13 available at the door

Main Event- Steel Cage Match
TNA's Abyss vs. Brodie Lee
-Abyss is making his return to Upstate, and looking to continue to make an impact. Last time we saw Abyss was back in April, where he defeated Big Cat in the Body Slam Challenge, and later cost Danny Doring his Heavyweight title. The monster from TNA now has his sights set on the Upstate heavyweight title, but must first make it out of the cage and come out the winner. Brodie Lee is coming out of the Upstate 8 a more experienced wrestler, having teamed with "Classic" Colt Cabana against fellow Bruise Crew members the Olsen's, and then taking on ROH's Roderick Strong & Austin Aries. With those matches, plus his past contests against Cabana & Shark Boy, Lee has the experience now to match his size and pose a challenge to the monster Abyss. One man we know that will be watching this main event will be the heavyweight champion himself, Glenn Spectre, as whoever wins will no doubt be in line for a title shot. However, when Spectre was addressed about his upcoming title defense against Jimmy Olsen, Spectre neglected to mention the match at hand, but rather focused on this steel cage match, and how he is eagerly awaiting the contest. No one is really sure what Spectre has planned, but one thing is for sure, the champion is not happy with once again not main evening a show. And just to clarify, the only way you can win this contest is to either escape through the door or reach the floor with both feet, or to climb over the cage and reach the floor with both feet or pin the man.
Special Attraction Match
Former WCW/WWE star Kanyon vs. Mastif
-The former US Champion Kanyon will be making his debut for Upstate this Saturday. Kanyon was a major player in WCW in the mid and late 90's, and was around until the company was bought out. He later went on to have success in the WWE, and is now looking to impact Upstate! Mastif has been caughting the eye of the Upstate officials over the past few months, and has been given the opportunity to showcase what he has against this veteran. Kanyon, one of the most innovative wrestlers throughout his career, is not taking his match up against the young lion seriously, claiming "Who Betta Than Kanyon?!?". Kanyon, who has already showed a lack of respect to the Upstate wrestlers & fans, will no doubt not be looking to make friends this Saturday at the All Star Sports Arena. I guess the only important question right now is WHO is BETTA THAN Kanyon... and hopefully for Mastif, it's him.
Tag Team Title Match
Up in Smoke(Cloudy & Cheech) vs. Burning River Brigade(M-Dogg 20 & Josh Prohibition)(c)
-This will be the first ever title defense for the newly crowned champions, as they won the titles along with winning the 2005 Upstate 8 Tag Team Tourney. M-Dogg & Josh had to go through three grueling matches on 9/10, first against the Osawa Syndicate of Charisma & Gabe Saint, then the surprising pairing of the Ring Crew Express (Dunn & Marcos), and finally defeating Generation Next of Roderick Strong & Austin Aries. M-Dogg gave the entire audience, as well as Upstate officials and employees a scare when we took a nasty german suplex onto his head. He was able to overcome the brutal maneuver, and gained the respect of all Upstate fans. The champs are making their return this Saturday and are looking to be put to the test, and the up and comers of Cloudy & Cheech plan to do just that. Up in Smoke now have the spotlight and opportunity to fly up the ladder of the Upstate tag division, with just one single victory. Up in Smoke are the underdogs in this match up, but one has to wonder if their drive and ability to risk it all will be enough to pull off the upset of the year? Be there on 10/29 to find out for yourself!
Dojo Title Match
JP Black vs. Jake N Bake(c)
-Jake N Bake has been the Dojo champion since April when he defeated Chip Stetson at Anniversary Anarchy. Since then he has joined up with Glenn Spectre's Banana Brigade, and has been on a roll ever since. However, it seems Jake's lack of respect for the fans and other wrestlers has caught the attention of a veteran of the locker room, none other than JP BLACK! Black was the winner of last months Rochester Rumble and was given a contract for ANY Upstate title he wanted. Most predicted Black to choose a shot at Glenn Spectre, but instead decided to pass on the opportunity, and has chosen to teach young Jake some lessons, and take his Kayfabe Dojo title all at the same time. Jake is clearly out matched here in experience, size, and just about any other category when matched up against JP. One thing is for sure, Jake and the rest of the Banana Brigade better have a plan to stop the Dark Pony, before he rides again.
Six Way Free For All
Gabe Saint vs. Freddie Midnight vs. Mark Kreiger vs. Colin Olsen vs. Charisma vs. D to the Icky
-With the change of Mastif wrestling Kanyon, a spot was free'd up and the Osawa Syndicate took the opportunity to put a second member of the group into this Six Way match up. Hellcat is looking to gain more power in Upstate, and needs his group to get on an impressive winning streak to earn some title shots. Charisma, who has been some what of the black sheep of the group ever since turning on Triple X back in February, was placed into this match by Hellcat, and informed that they MUST win the match, or Charisma will pay. If Freddie Midnight can keep his mind on the match, and off the rest of the banana's around him, he could have the chance to pull off the win on Saturday night. Midnight did pull off a victory in a 4 Way Free For All against Colin Olsen, Kid Justice & Kevin Dunn back in August '04. Kreiger is fresh out of the Kayfabe Dojo, and wants to impress all of his local friends and fans. Colin Olsen, taking a step away from tag teaming with partner Jimmy Olsen, will be looking to find singles success at the All Star Sports Arena. Let's not forget that Colin Olsen won the Six Way Free For All at Upstate's debut at the Ukrainian Club last May 2004. D to the Icky may possibly be the most improved wrestler in 2005 for Upstate, coming off a series of brutal matches against Dunn, taking on international wrestling star Christopher Daniels and ROH star Jay Lethal, to taking on Mastif, Fabulous and the Japanese sensation KUDO this past September. D to the icky has had his changes against some top competition, and is now ready to capitalize on the experience.
Grudge Match- Tables Match
Eric Everlast vs. Big Cat
-There's not much to say about this one folks, we have two big guys that do not like each other. Everlast and BCL have been facing off for the better part of the past 2 years, and it must come to a conclusion this Saturday! No Body Slam Challenge would settle these issues, as was evident when Everlast defeated Big Cat in the challenge by using a Samoan Drop (questionable since it was a BodySlam match). And not just a normal no DQ match was enough, these two wanted to finish it off with a TABLES MATCH! Either one of these men could do serious damage going through a table, and this one will no doubt get nasty quick. We can only hope that both men make it out of the All Star Sports Arena in one piece.
Upstate Heavyweight Title Match- Stipulation to be announced night of the show
Jimmy Olsen vs. "Wonderman" Glenn Spectre(c)
-Jimmy Olsen was put in this match to replace good friend and Bruise Crew member Brodie Lee, to extract some revenge for his stable mate. Olsen has also been at odds with Spectre and his Banana Brigade since late Spring, and is looking to take advantage of the situation, get his revenge, and take home the Heavyweight title all in the same night. Glenn Spectre is coming off of his tour of Japan, where the Upstate title was defended! Spectre is not happy that his title defense will once again not be in the main event. Spectre since winning the title has only main evented one show, where he defeated Lee in his first defense. No one has any idea what type of match will happen this Halloween weekend, but one thing is for sure, the only way to find out is to be there live.
Don't forget you can also meet TNA Superstar Abyss at Heavy Metal Records in Webster this FRIDAY! Also Abyss will be auctioning off one of his very own mask's Saturday night!!! Did we forget to mention that KANYON would be in the house as well!
Also M-Dogg 20 & Josh Prohibition will address the crowd, and show their appreciation to the fans of Rochester, for their support at the Upstate 8 Tourney. Also scheduled will be a Survivor Series style tag match and more with Marcos w/Nikki Jet, Evan McCloud, Maximo Suave, Dewey, Derek Allen, Kevin Dunn, Johnny Blaze, Jerk Jackson, Bobby Shields, Luis White Shoes, Hellcat and more!
So make sure to be there this Saturday at the All Star Sports Arena to catch NWA Upstate's MONSTER'S BRAWL
