Jimmy reviews Smackdown!

Smackdown opening

Our hosts are Michael Cole and Tazz.

Chris Benoit vs. Christian
This is non-title. Orlando Jordan comes out before the match and disagrees with the match, and attacks Benoit, who quickly locks in the Crossface, which is broken up by Christian. The heels work over Benoit, and Booker T makes the save, and it's declared a tag team match.

Chris Benoit and Booker T vs. Christian and Orlando Jordan
Sharmell comes down to ringside to cheer on Booker, who gets a high kick on Orlando for 2. Christian comes in and almost gets Scissors Kicked, but gets spinebustered anyway for 2. Brisco rollup gets 2 for Booker. Christian sends Booker out and Orlando cheapshots as the heels take over. Benoit gets the hot tag and cleans house. Christian goes for the Unprettier but Benoit counters it into the Crossface, which Orlando breaks up. Booker takes them both down and goes out to go after Orlando, who ends up getting bumped into Sharmell. Orlando uses the distraction to ram Booker into the ring steps. Back in the ring Benoit german suplexes the hell out of Christian, but gets rope snapped by Orlando, and Christian gets the Unprettier for the pin. Decent but lethargic stuff. **1/2

Orton/Taker video

Backstage, Batista playfully squirts Christy and some other chick with windex stuff, and gets some protein crap from Simon Dean.

Teddy Long and Palmer Cannon (Who I keep wanting to call Carson Palmer) bring out Batista. It's time to name a new #1 contender...Eddie Guerrero, so says Cannon. Apparently Teddy wanted it to be Rey though. Eddie talks about wanting respect and no longer having hatred, and just wants to have a great match at No Mercy. They talk about being friends, and they hug.

LOD 2005 with Heidenreich's creepy new face paint vs. MNM
LOD dominate to start, but MNM take over after a cheap shot and top rope elbow on Animal. Heidenreich gets the hot tag and he cleans house. Mercury nails Heidenreich with one the titles right in front of the ref for the DQ. Whatever. DUD.

Backstage, Teddy and Palmer are thanked by Eddie.

Backstage, Orton's 2 and 3 talk about a big suprise.

JBL vs. Rey Mysterio w/ new music
Rey tries to get a sunset flip early that JBL blocks with a fist. Rey armdrags JBL and gets caught with a shoulder tackle when trying to get the 619. JBL gets 3 elbows for 2. JBL swinging neckbreaker gets 2. Rey tries to fight back but gets caught in the bearhug. Rey gets a DDT and both guys get up at 8. Headscissors and grounded dropkick by Rey. Bronco Buster(!) by Rey for the first time in years. Monkey Flip is blocked by JBL. Clothesline for Hell misses but the 619 doesn't. West Coast Pop is prevented, but a springboard moonsault isn't and Rey wins(!). Didn't see that coming. **

Backstage, Nunzio w/ Vito complains to Teddy and Palmer about not being on SD. Due to Eddie's suggestions, Palmer announces Nunzio vs. Batista for tonight.

Backstage, Josh Matthews tries to interview JBL, but JBL ignores him. Ken Kennedy comes in and does an interview though.

Ken Kennedy vs. Tyson Tomko's little brother
Kennedy......Kennedy wins quickly with the top rope Fireman's Carry. DUD.

Batista vs. Nunzio w/ Vito
Batista domiantes both Vito and Nunzio quickly, getting the Spinebuster on Vito and the Batista Bomb on Nunzio for the pin. Eddie applauds. *1/2

Backstage, the Ortons continue to talk about a suprise.

The (Burger) King intercepting Drew Bledsoe's pass is the best commercial ever.

Backstage, JBL asks Jillian to work for him and she accepts.

Randy Orton vs. Undertaker
Joined in progress with a stalemate of sorts. Taker gets a big shoulder and gets a big boot for 2. Taker works the shoulder. This goes on for a while. Taker goes up for the Old School but Orton straddles him on the top turnbuckle, and gets a superplex. He tells his father to "Bring the truck", and Bob indeed signals a truck in. Orton DDT, and it turns out the Ortons have brought a casket.

If only the King had caught a Daunte Culpepper touchdown last week, I might have won the week.

We return with Orton chinlocking Undertaker. Taker fights out but Orton gets a dropkick for 2 and goes back to the chinlock. Orton slams Taker down and goes up, but gets a boot when trying to get an elbow. Taker gets snake eyes and the big boot and legdrop for 2, brother. Taker clotheslines Orton over the top. Taker goes to put Orton in the casket, and finds his doppleganger in the casket. Orton rams Taker into the steps. Back in, the Last Ride is narrowly avoided, ref bumped, and Orton gets the RKO. A 2nd ref comes in and gets 2 for Orton. Chokeslam and Bob Orton stops the ref from counting the pin. RKO blocked, Tombstone isn't, and Taker gets the win. **

Overall Thoughts:
Pretty good Smackdown that kept me entertained for 2 hours. Thumbs up for this episode of SD.
