Jeremy has updated his blog after Ringside Fest!
Jeremy Padawer of Jakks Pacific has updated his blog after his appearance at Ringside Fest this past weekend! Here is what he posted:
I want to thank all of you for a memorable Ringside Fest.
I got there with Peter at around 7:30AM. I headed out to the line to meet some of the nice people who had come as far as Arizona to meet The Hart Foundation.
Then we headed down a few flights of stairs to the bar area of Carolines, where we set up product.
We met with fans of the Classic Superstars and Jakks WWE line, answered questions, and wrote down a lot of really good ideas.
We announced that we’re going to increase the # of Classic Superstars waves from 4 to 6 per year. We also announced that our top-3 targets for the next month are Dynamite Kid, Jesse Ventura and The Big Bossman (his family). We are in various levels of discussion and/or approved to contact each Superstar.
Moreover, we’re going to continue to ramp up signings. I feel that the next 3-6 months will be exciting from that perspective.
I was scheduled to give a speech introducing the Hart Foundation at 12 for the Q&A, however the signing took another hour. My flight to LA was at 2:20PM.
I got back into Los Angeles just in time to feed the baby and see her to sleep. That was my #1 goal in getting back. I travel so much on this job. In the last 6 weeks, I’ve spent about 1 week (total) in the office. Coming to the collector event in NYC and missing an entire weekend would have been a bummer… So, I deeply appreciate those of you who understood why I had to jump at noon.
Regarding the 8X10 and free autograph. I actually receive a few requests from time to time, unsolicited, for autographs through the blog or via Jakks mail. So, I figured what the heck. It was free and I wasn’t pushing it. I am a lifelong autograph collector. It was really cool to sign 50-75 autographs - and be on the other side of it, for once. I deeply appreciate that anyone would request, and I figure that you’ll find it under a stack of books in 15 years and remember the event.
Whatever happens to the WWE action figure line over the next generation, I was there for now 5 years, the line has gone from #15 to #2 at retail, and we’ve made a major contribution to the collecting world.
On a completely not related note - I watched Transformers on the airplane. The last 45 minutes were cut off because I had to turn in the video player… good movie so far. I assume the bad guys don’t win. It’s rare that a toy company contributes to a really nice piece of entertainment. Hasbro = nice job.
Sincerely,
Jeremy Padawer
