WrestlingFigs: Good evening Damon!

marveldamon: Hey guys. Thanks for making the time to chat about the TNA Wrestling Line!

Q: is there gonna be a tomko figure?
A: I have a Tomko figure sculpted and it looks great. We have him planned in an 08 assortment.

Q: When and are we getting a Gail Kim Figure?
A: The current plan is make Gail Kim a build a figure.

Q: How will the Traci Brooks Build a figure be separated into?
A: She will be separated into the four figures of the asst. Her left arm and leg is with one figure, the other arm leg with the second, her lower torso separated at the ribcage is the third and her, um, well her chest and head are the fourth.

Q: Hi damon, Hope all is well with you. I was wondering, Will we be seeing a Kurt Angle/Samoa Joe set coming out in the future?
A: That is a twin pack idea that tops my list!

Q: Will we be seeing a bigger ring or a ring made for specailty matchs such as Utlimate X, Elevation X, or Lethal Lockdown?
A: I really want to get a bigger ring out there. As many of you deduced, Rival twin pack figures are posed within the first prototype of the larger ring. Oh, and the posts are not wood and the turnbuckles are new pieces linked to the posts.

Q: What about talents that are no longer under contract, ie: A1 - could we ever get a Team Canada Boxed Set?
A: With A-1 no longer on TNA TV and Scott D'Amore acting as an agent rather than on air manager, I don't see a place for them in the line. We have made the efforts for Roode and Young to be available in their Team Canada attire. With Petey already out there you will have a great representation of Team Canada.

Q: Will we see any box sets? (i.e. Serotinin, LAX, Cristian Coalition)
A: We are looking into box sets. Many times a retailer will ask for a specialty item that is only available in their stores. Box sets are great specials that collectors often find attractive. I have an LAX 3 pack in mind as well as a Christian Coalition pack on the list of possibilies.

Q: Hi, Im a big fan of your figures but here in Toronto it seems like we haven't gotten a set since TNA set 5, I was wondering if we Canadian fans are going to get some of the newer sets featuring Scott Steiner, Christian Cage, Eric Young, etc..?
A: Unfortunatley, distribution is an area that I am not a part of.

Q: Are the faces for the figures sculpted or do you use a scanning technique similar to Jakks?
A: Both. We had a scan session with TNA back when they were in TN and have had some of their newer talent scanned on an individual basis. For those wrestlers who we do not have scan data, we hire very talented sculptors who specialize in capturing likenesses.

Q: What was the reason for Marvel Toys not matching the pre-existing Jakks scale? Do you realize how much money your line has lost due to incompatibility?
A: The 6 inch scale is a standard over here in Marvel Toys and we have a history of making wrestling product in that scale. The fine people over at Jakks have done an amazing job with their scaled figures but we are 2 companies who have different parameters which we work in.

Q: Is there anyway that we could see complete fabric attire, I feel this is what would set you apart from Jakks.
A: Have you seen the single carded Christian Cage figure? He has removable, fabric entrance attire. We also have a line of 12" figures that have FULL fabric attire. The belts have die-cast plates (these actually make pretty cool bracelets). I recieved pre-production samples of these today and they are shaping up very nicely!

Q: When will the new TNA Championships be released?
A: We recently recieved reference for the new belts and they look really cool! It takes time to sculpt and build tools (think big metal molds) then to produce, ship and distribute. I don't see new belts out anytime before mid 08.

Q: What happened to those Sean Waltman and Kid Kash protos
A: They are displayed in my office with the rest of the TNA line. I think the line as a whole looks great when they are all standing there together. I separated them by divisions: X, tag and heavyweight. What can I say, I am a bit of a geek.

Q: When's the "Best of" set with the blue Joe, white Hoyt, and black Kip James going to start hitting regularly?
A: The varaints were part of the last few runs of the asst. I don't have numbers as to how many were made.

Q: Will Brother Ray's shirt restrict arm movement?
A: We changed the design from the prototype that you saw. We went with the sleeveless flannel over a t-shirt look. The sleeves of the t-shirt are sculped details of the upper arms with the shirts that cover his torso molded in a soft PVC. This results in a better range of motion and (I think) made the figure look even better.

Q: Any plans on making a straight faced Scott Steiner with baggy pants?
A: With Scott backon the show in a big way (how great was that Steiner Brothers - 3D promo!) I'd love to get another figure of him out there.

Q: The upcoming "Collector Edition" figures. Will Christopher Daniels & AJ Styles be in their current gear or basically "classic" gear?
A: AJ is in the biker short look. We were too far along with this design for us to catch up to his new heel look. Daniels would be in his new look.

Q: can we expect to see posed tna figure statues?
A: Highly detailed, statue like items have been discussed and I think would be really cool but we are currently focused on super articulated, highly detailed action figures.

Q: what is the deal with the black monty brown
A: When Monty was placed in a twin pack in his red gear I wanted his single carded figure to be different. So a running change was made to make his shorts black and silver.

Q: For AJ styles will we see a cloth robe for him instead of soft plastic?
A: We did! It is part of a TRU special. AJ, a ring, the X-Division belt and accessories are called Championship X. AJ is in his lime green attire and the vest is cloth.

Q: Will there be seperately sold accessory packs that contain items such as chairs, street, tables, signs, chains, belts?
A: No plans for accessory packs. We offer many wrestling props with our figures and rings though!

Q: I think this is something everyone wants to know. Why does the TNA figures take so long to come out? Because, look at the new “Ringside Rivlarys”. They have been over for months. I know it takes time to make & all but we’re in June of 2007 & Christian Cage vs Rhino ended in October of 2006. It doesn’t make sense.
A: It takes time my man! Usually about a year. That is why we try to choose matchings that can stand the test of time.

Q: We will get a new red masked Abyss ?
A: That is the planned deco for Abyss of the Traci BAF asst.

Q: Hi, Damon! I have a quite specific question for you, hope you can help. I'm a UK-based fan, and a few months back I ordered a special "preview edition" double-pack from TNA Eurostore, with Hernandez and Kurt Angle. They were pre-ordered, due for the end of April. It is now June, and still no sign of them. Any info on the cause of the delay, and when those of us who ordered these figures can expect to recieve them?
A: I am not familiar with that pack. If it was developed I would know of it.

Q: Hey your doing great job. Any plans for a Konnan figure?
A: I have control drawings completed for a new Konnan but we have not yet found a home for him. Until we do we won't begin sculpting.

Q: will marvel execute the new figures releases in a better timely manner, ( every month or two apart) or is it going to be a whenever a series gets wrapped up and wait 4-6
A: We have 4 single pack assts. scheduled for the year. We release product quarterly (as long as we do not run into any complications).

Q: Will Kurt come with his jacket?
A: The jacket is to be included. It will be soft PVC.

Q: Will Chase Stevens still get released?</i>
A: Yes! Both F'N and in the black n' pink. I have just reviewed production samples and they are sweet!

Q: I had a hard time finding a Christian figure with good face paint. Was there a problem with this particular figure?
A: With any figure there are many, many deco operations. It is up to our Quality Control guys to make sure that they look good.

Q: TNA Ringside Rivals look great with the "clear arms" used for posing the figs in differnet moves/situations. Any chance of doing a old "Hasbro type figure" with real wrestling action?
A: You want actions in the figures?

Q: Since Sting is a part of TNA, can you do another "Evolution" of Sting set? Will you?
A: Man, I developed that box set and it is one of my favorites.

Q: When will we get any future line-ups?
A: The release of the line ups is up to our marketing dept.

Q: Damon, why was Brother Ray bumped from Wave 8?
A: Cost. He is an expensive figure and we needed to make the asst. work on a financial level.

Q: Will we ever see the Chris Harris figure from series 4 WITHOUT the moulded-on sunglasses, like it was in the prototype?
A: I hope so. The idea for that figure was to have him look like him as he is walking down the ramp. When he makes his entrance he wears sunglasses.

Q: Hi Damon, what me and no doubt alot of other collectors will want to know is, can you's come to an agreement with Kid Kash over the release of his figure? it's so awesome and I think it'd sell as we all want it!!!!
A: I really like the figure. But he is no longer contracted to TNA.

Q: Will we see a new Raven any time soon?
A: I spoke to Raven a few months ago and we discussed his new look. He is still in the process of finding a new in ring look. Until then...

Q: I have a TNA Steiner in red with no glasses on. Is this an error or what ? I got it from Ringside Collectibles.
A: That sounds like an error.

Q: Any chance of a Steiner Brothers set? And if it was in play already, any chance it won't be cancelled with Scotty on the shelf for the moment?
A: I read that Scott's surgery was a success and I hope that it was. If Rick is in for an extended run with TNA then I'd love another crack at a figure of him.

Q: Any chance of figures with blood/injuries?
A: Not in our mass market retailers.

Q: Did you ever make a proto for Trinity?
A: Yes and I think she kept it! I never got it back once I submitted for approval!

Q: Will there be a Chris Sabin Bashin Brawlers figure?
A: no plans as of now

Q: A few years ago, there were wcw and wwf wrestling buddies, can we expect to see some sort of TNA wrestling buddies? those would rock!
A: They are out there. Look for Bashin' Brawlers of Samoa Joe, Sting, Christian Cage and Kevin Nash!

Q: Will Mr. Bob Backlund be made into a Marvel action figure?
A: With a book accessory?

Q: Is there any chance we will get a King of the Mountain Penalty Box?
A: I took a bunch of reference pictures of the box during my last trip to Orlando. No plans for it yet.

Q: What are the TNA Wrestlers reactions when they see their figures
A: The younger guys are really jazzed up to see the first action figures made in their likeness. The veterans look at as old hat. James Mitchell loves his figure!

Q: Was Trinity the first Knockout you ever cnsidered to make or were you going to make someone else?
A: She was the first.

Q: Will we be getting a new Jeff Jarrett with the longer hair anytime soon?
A: I recently had a new JJ sculpted and he liked the hair of it. He then debuted with longer locks! Not sure how we will handle this...

Q: since I am a Moc collector and love the old packageing would you ever go back to that old packageing???
A: No plans. We really like the look of the new packages.

Q: Will there be a Homicide coming out, not in a 2 pack?
A: As of now we have him slated only in the twin pack. Did you see the picks of him on the main page? I think the bases are a lot of fun.

Q: For the homicide figure, are the doo rags removable?
A: Yes. They are soft PVC and can slid on and off of him (I have one on a Spider-Man figure on my desk).
