Boogeyman, Ric Flair, and more!
The Boogeyman—This is probably my favorite JAKKS figure to date.
Considering the extensive nature of my collection, that’s a fairly
lofty claim. But I stand by it. The attention to detail on this figure
is extraordinary, and I was thrilled that he came with a clock, rather
than the go-to steel chair or parking barricade. The furry arm and neck
wraps are also a fantastic touch, showing again how JAKKS went the
extra mile. The only thing that’s missing are some live worms. Well,
and his chance at being taken seriously as a wrestler. But, at least
he’s got a kickass figure. 10/10
Chris Masters—This figure is pretty similar to his first one, only with
the additions of some graphics on his boots, and the fallopian tubes on
his tights. The first Masters was red, which makes me a little
disappointed they didn’t opt for another color choice. Maybe crushed
velvet is harder to duplicate than you’d think. The facial expression
is perfect. I guess it’s easy to capture, seeing as how the real
Masters only has one to pick from. 7/10
Kid Kash—Who? Oh, right, Fat Kid Rock. This figure wins the “Most
Puzzling Inclusion” award for the series. But, in truth, it’s a pretty
good figure. The tights are well done, and the face looks just like
this hero of Velocity. What’s nice is that JAKKS has conveniently
placed a photo of Kid on the box, so you can see what he actually looks
like. You know, assuming you don’t watch TV on the internet. Joking
aside, though, this is a solid figure. And the inclusion of the stop
sign is a great nod to the importance of traffic safety. A definite
feather in the cap of Kid Kash with this figure debut. 8/10
Booker T—Now this figure is fantastic. The long Predator dreads are
fantastic looking, as is the attention to detail on the gloves, boots,
and tights. The face is well done, suggesting an air of “Hey Batista, I
just beat your ass.” Here’s a fun project: score a Harley Race figure
(from Ringside Collectibles, of course) and switch the crown and cape
to depict the newest King of the Ring, King Booker. Wouldn’t that just
be oodles of fun? Booker T also comes with the US Title belt, which is
a nice touch. 8/10
Ric Flair—Finally. That’s the first word that came into my mind after
seeing the perfectly sculpted, wonderfully articulated man breasts on
the latest Ric Flair figure. No longer do we have to deal with Ric
Flair’s head on HHH’s body. No, no, this installment is the most
realistic looking Flair to date. The minimalist approach has been taken
with his tights and boots, and it looks fine. There was some debate as
to the promise of a robe with the figure, but I think we can all agree
that, with or without a robe, Flair’s rack is magnificent. 9/10
