NWA GCW COLUMBUS, GA 9-9-06

Billy Roper does Mat Talk and his guest was Scotty Beach. They talk about his upcoming match against Young and the 6 man tag against Michaels, Inc at the Fred Ward Memorial. Scotty named his team, saying that he will team with Heath Miller and AJ Steele. He then demanded to know who Michaels, Inc was going to put together. This brought out Quenton Michaels who said that he ain't revealing his team. After insulting Beach, Michaels was met with a cup full of water to the face.

John Bogie defeats Patrick Bentley. DeathRow watched the ending of the match from the ramp and then walked back to the back.

DeathRow defeated Scott Fantastic. Afterwards D-Row starts to beat Fantastic with the bat when Bogie runs out. John is met with the bat and DeathRow starts to scrape the barbwire bat across Bogie's face. GCW Promoter Jerry Oates comes out and he is attacked with the bat. D-Row left the ring with Fantastic, Bogie and Oates all laid out.

Adam Roberts defeats John Rodriguez

Scotty Beach defeats David Young by Countout. The Queen of GCW, Amy Young, graced us peasants with her presence as she accompanied David to the ring. During the match, GCW champ, Chris Stevens, came out and it seemed like he was trying to take Amy back to the back with him. Eventually David got distracted and went outside to confront Chris. By the time he realized that the ref was counting him out, it was too late.

After the match, Quenton Michaels attacks Beach with a briefcase. It was later announced that Michaels would part of the Michaels, Inc team at the Memorial show.

"Outlaw" Lee Condry & GQ w/ Shady Grady

-vs-

"The Syndicate Crew"  DeAngelo & Karnage (1/2 of the NWA Mid-America Tag Team Champions)

This match looked and sounded pretty awful as all four men beat on and abused one another with all sorts of random items such as shudders, chairs, chains, metal objects and any other “weapons” they could get their hands on. Condry & GQ finally pinned Karnage after putting him through a table.

(Chesterfield, Va) The critically acclaimed I-TV show "NWA ACTION
ZONE" has moved to The Superstation.net!
The NWA was a fixture on TBS' Superstation from 1985 on. Eventually,
it just became one of Turner's many TV Channels as his empire
expanded. When Turner merged with AOL, and with WCW Saturday Night
ratings declining, wrestling action was no longer seen on TBS, The
Superstation.
That has now changed. NWA wrestling is now on TheSuperstation.net! NWA
ACTION ZONE and NWA Anarchy can be downloaded from the site.
"We were honored when we were asked to come on board the
Superstation," said NWA Virginia Promoter and Board of Director Member
Rick OBrien. "THE ACTION ZONE is being downloaded quite a bit, 'Night
of The IronMen' is selling and other DVD's are being produced by
ColeProMedia so this is a logical next step for us. It is great to be
a part of history!"
As of now the NWA Virginia website is linked to ColeProMedia but it
will be updated shortly.
"Being a part of the NWA is great anyway," said NWA Virginia Board
Member Brandon Bailey, "but to now be on TheSuperstation? This is just
fantastic. This is the way wrestling is supposed to be."
NWA ACTION ZONE has been updated with a new episode that includes a
Virginia Heavyweight Title defense by Champion Sean Denny, and Thrills
and Chills versus Grail and Krotch. Go to TheSuperstation.net to download.

Dan Poutsma provided further info:

NWA sanctioned wrestling had been a fixture on the network well before
it became a Superstation and well before it was known as WTBS.

From the 1970s into the 1980s there was "Georgia Championship
Wrestling" and then "World Championship Wrestling" produced under the
auspices of the NWA's Georgia Championship Wrestling, Inc. They also
had a Sunday Edition of the show. In 1984, Vince McMahon bought GCW,
Inc. and "World Championship Wrestling" began to showcase the World
Wrestling Federation starting July 14th of that year. They also
replaced the Sunday Edition show with a program that I believe was
called "The Best of Championship Wrestling", also under the WWF banner.

In the wake of the McMahon takeover, the NWA's Ole Anderson, the
former head of GCW, was given a new timeslot for a show on Saturday
morning called "Championship Wrestling from Georgia". On March 30,
1985 that show was taken over by Jim Crockett Promotions and it's
championships and most of the talent were incorporated into the
Mid-Atlantic based group. The following week on April 6th, the NWA
returned to the Saturday evening slot when Crockett took control of
"World Championship Wrestling" from McMahon. The Sunday Edition of WCW
would also return while the show in the "Championship Wrestling from
Georgia" slot (the last show under that name was also April 6th)
became known as simply "Championship Wrestling".

It should also be noted that "WCW Saturday Night" moved to Saturday
mornings for a brief time before it was cancelled altogether in 2000.
By that point it had just become a recap show anyway. "WCW Thunder",
launched in January 1998, continued to air on TBS until March 2001
when Jamie Kellner cancelled all WCW programming off the Turner
Networks entirely.
