Your Hosts: Patrick Kelley, James Walsh, & Nick Noel

Dakota Darsow is a second generation wrestler. His dad, Barry Darsow, is a legend in our business having been part of one of the most successful tag teams in history to name just one accomplishment as a member of Demolition (Smash). Dakota has been knocking around the business for a number of years now, scoring opportunities with the WWE and TNA. But, his most on-air success has come over the past month where he was on back to back episodes of TNA Impact Wrestling and appeared at the TNA Destination X PPV.

Hot off the heels of his recent appearances, Darsow sat down with us to discuss growing up around wrestling, his goals in our business, and so much more.

Plus, our after show with all the wrestling nerdy chat you can shake a big nerdy stick at.

DAKOTA DARSOW

- Dakota joins the line and the interview begins with James asking how the shoulder is doing. Dakota says it is a bit sore (a reference to the on-air injury suffered at the hands of X Division Champion Zema Ion on a recent Impact) and he is going to try and get back in there as soon as possible.

- On his recent run with TNA, he likes the experience he is getting and his goal was to make it to a point where he is on TV every week. TNA has given him the chance to do that and he appreciates it. He feels it is a taste of big exposure.

- Being the son of Barry Darsow, he says that his dad has been a tremendous help and was definitely an influence on him getting into the business. He said that he had three goals: 1) Be a Pro Wrestler, 2) Play in the NFL, or 3) Play in the NHL, and ultimately the family ties to wrestling drew him into the business. He references the NWA Fan Fest he went to with his dad and that really inspired him to get into it. His told Barry he wanted to get in the business and his response was "I am surprised it took you this long". Dakota says his deal with his dad was that he could get trained but had to finish college first. He did. And, he was soon after trained by Lenny Lane and his dad.

- On the X Division and whether or not he's a good fit for it, he says it is a completely different style of wrestling from what he was trained in and what he usually does. He feels that he is different from a lot of the X Division guys that were brought in and would like to offer something different to the division. He says he can do things off the top rope but it isn't where he lives when he's in a match.

- On the broken nose he suffered in his match with Flip Casanova, he said that injuries like that are something you have to learn to tough out when you are out there. He actually doesn't recall the second portion of that match from TNA Impact Wrestling from July 5th due to the blow to the head that caused the broken nose.

- He was hired to WWE Developmental for a short time and got dropped fairly quickly. He says at the time, he never got a concrete answer for why that happened, but assumes it was because of a few injuries that were mounting up on him. He says those were contributed to by his youth and naeivty to the business. When he was let go, they told him that he was being let go but said that did not mean the door was closed for him. He believes that to be true and says again that his goal is to headline WrestleMania.

- James mentions that saying Dakota didn't fit the usual mold of the X Division wasn't a knock but a compliment in that he's a little more rough and tough than your average high flyer. Dakota says that he feels he is a good fit for the X Division for that reason. He says if you look at the guys who succeeded in wrestling from his dad to Hulk Hogan to Rick Rude to Mr. Perfect and all the guys he grew up idolizing, each one looked and acted different. They had their own style both in appearance and in work rate. Dakota says that he certainly looks different from most other people and that in the X Division, his differences from the pack would be highlighted.

- When asked if he feels pressured to fill his father's shoes, he says his dad was a big star and it is hard to live up tot hat reputation, but it motivates him to better, and his dad is his hero to him. James then references the Barry Darsow interview we conducted years ago which was taped ironically just prior to the NWA Fan Fest that helped Dakota make a major life decision.

- The interview ends with well wishes and the hope that Darsow will become a permanent part of TNA Wrestling's X Division and continue to contribute. You can reach him at his website
