WWE Hall of Famer Tito Santana Triumphs Over Ross Family at February Fury:
Aaron Stride Emerges as New Number One Contender for IWF Title
(West Paterson, NJ)- WWE Hall of Famer Tito Santana made a triumphant appearance at the Independent Wrestling Federation's February Fury Weekend at IWF Centre, West Paterson, NJ, as he helped put the Ross Family in their place. Here is a complete recap of the events held Saturday, February 25, and Sunday, February 26, 2006.
In the main event on February 25th before a sold-out crowd, former WWE Intercontinental and Tag Team Champion Tito Santana joined forces with former IWF Champion BoneCrusher Fred Sampson and IWF Junior Champion Dangerous Dan McGuire in six-man tag team warfare to defeat Ross Family members IWF Champion Kevin Knight and IWF Tag Team Champions Shawn Donavan and Travis Blake with Rich Ross. The end came when Donavan was pinned after receiving Santana's flying forearm, then a double-team BoneCrusher running powerslam from Sampson and McGuire.
IWF American Champion Justin Corino extended his one-month title reign with a victory against former champion Outlaw Shane O'Brien with Rich Ross by count-out, as O'Brien headed for higher ground during Corino's impressive offensive flurry and lived to fight another day.
Hott n' Heavy members saw singles action against Latin Revolution as Aaron Stride defeated rival Tony Torres to become a top contender for an IWF Heavyweight Title Match on March 26th. In the second match-up, Biggie Biggs defeated Antonio Rivera by disqualification after Rivera delivered a blatant low-blow in front of referee Matt Bennett.
In a fast-paced Triple Threat Elimination bout to determine the new number one contender for a Junior Title match on February 26th, Nick Sabre defeated Jasin Karloff and Radical Robby Morrison. Sabre first eliminated Morrison, then Karloff. In other action, the 350-pound Franciz defeated Chris Steeler after a Samoan-Drop and splash combination.
Day two of February Fury Weekend on Sunday, February 26th saw IWF Champion Kevin Knight and Shane O'Brien with Rich Ross defeat Fred Sampson and American Champion Justin Corino after O'Brien hit Corino in the head with his loaded forearm cast behind the referee's back to score the pin.
A new IWF Junior Heavyweight Champion was crowned as Nick Sabre defeated champion Dan McGuire to win the title after interference by Shawn Donavan and Travis Blake. Donavan and Blake's interference costing McGuire his title was retaliation for McGuire refusing to join the Ross Family back in November. After the contest, they also put the boots to Sabre. This marks Sabre's first championship, while ending McGuire's five-month reign as a three-time Junior Champion.
The IWF Tag Team Champions also saw action themselves as Donavan and Blake with Rich Ross defeated Burnin' Mike Durnin and Steve Camacho.
In other action, Tony Torres defeated Biggie Biggs after outside interference by Antonio Rivera. Later, the Latin Revolution members teamed up to beat defeated Steve Off & Frank Scoleri.
In other singles action, Aaron Stride defeated Radical Robby Morrison after the Heat Wave, but was the recipient of a big boot to the face by Knight after the bout. Chris Steeler defeated Franciz by disqualification after the 350-pounder intentionally struck referee Tommy Trouble after refusing to abide by rules.
Independent Wrestling Federation action returns with March Madness Weekend on Saturday, March 25, 7:30 pm, and Sunday, March 26, 3:30 pm at IWF Centre, West Paterson, NJ.
