My Day With Mick Foley
By Timothy Floyd
Professional Wrestler Mick Foley has had a long and successful career. Whether wrestling as Cactus Jack or Mankind, Foley always entertained the fans. On April 14th, 2007, wrestling fans in New York would have their opportunity to meet the man widely regarded as the "Hardcore Legend".
Mick Foley's book signing was scheduled to take place at Wal-Mart in Middletown, New York. I was excited for this epic event. My friend James and I made our way there. This was sure to be nothing short of a earth-rattling adventure. At Noon, Foley arrived and he was ready to sign books for all of his adoring fans. James and I got our autographs and pictures with Mr. Foley and it was spectacular! The signing was run very well, everyone got what they wanted and everyone was happy!
You know what we did after we got our autographs? We stood there. We stood there and stared at him. Oh yeah, I had an agenda. As the event came to a close, I kept a close eye on Foley. I didn't want to lose him... for I was going to follow Mick Foley.
It was a tough situation in the Wal-Mart parking lot. A Wal-Mart on a Saturday is equivalent to being on the front lines in Iraq. But I managed to keep Foley in my sights. He entered his red minivan. I followed. Was he heading home to Long Island at this point? I thought so, but I would soon be proved wrong....
"Mick Foley, where are you taking me?", I asked myself. I followed Mick Foley until we reached an area of Middletown featuring two hotels and three restaurants. I thought he was going into a hotel, but then he turned. Where was he heading? Outback Steakhouse? NO! He's going to T.G.I. FRIDAY'S!

Mick Foley and some people who seemed to be friends of his entered the restaurant. "This is stupid, we can't go in there...." said James. Was he the voice of reason? Surely Mr. Foley must've noticed he'd been followed. I just didn't care. It was Mick Foley, and I was stalking him, plain and simple.
We entered Friday's. I got Broccoli & Cheese soup and French Fries. James got a Sampler Platter featuring Buffalo Wings and Potato Skins. They had great Coca-Cola on this day, and it seemed so appropriate. We were sitting close to Mr. Foley. I could see him. Our waiter walked like Joe Lego. It was kind of disturbing after a while, he was like Joe Lego x10. After we ate, we went out to the car. Disregarding James' protests, I was going to wait for Mick Foley to come out.
Just minutes later, Foley made his exit. He entered his red chevrolet, (which can be viewed in My Pics. I got a picture of it while I was waiting for Mr. Foley to exit Friday's.) and he was on his way home. Wait a minute, he didn't have enough fuel to make it all the way to Long Island! He stopped at Citgo, which was right up the road. I didn't pull into the gas station, because then it would have really been obviou to Mick that he was being stalked. James and I waited up the road, we knew he would head on the highway. Mrs. Foley's baby boy was heading home to Long Island.
I had a difficult time getting onto the highway. Traffic was an obstacle at this point! So, I was not as close to Foley as I'd wanted to be. I was still determined to catch him. But unfortunately... that would never come to be on this day. We followed him to Monroe, Chester, Harriman! Foley continued to get farther away as we drove on the highway.. he was a speed demon! I was not in any position to do any speeding, like Foley was. As Mick Foley got on the road toward his hometown of Long Island, I took the road towards home. The adventure was over.
Mick Foley was very nice to meet. This was my third time meeting him; my first time stalking him.

I have attached some pictures.
