OVW TV Review -- Buildup to Cappotelli vs Jeter
By Eric Hall

OVW returned to the WB in Louisville on Saturday Night with the final push for the biggest match OVW has ever put on, Johnny Jeter defending the OVW Championship against former "Thrillseeker" partner Matt Cappotelli. Throughout the show, highlights from all their angles since they simultaniously pinned MNM at the end of July. It was the first week of August that Cappotelli broke his leg, and their angles were run throughout the show. This Wednesday Night, after all the hype and speculation, OVW fans will finally get the match that Paul Heyman has built up almost his entire booking reign here, Jeter vs Cappotelli.

Mark Henry returned to action, and put a pretty severe belt whipping on local Robert Fury, who was in a match with  Rene Dupree. When Dupree saw Henry come out, he ran out of the ring and left Fury to take the beating. It was pretty vicious, with Henry really laying in the belt shots.

There was a backstage segment where WWE Monday Night Raw goofball Maria wanted the scoop and eavesdropped on The Tolands in the locker room of new OVW Southern Tag Team Champions Chet the Jet and Seth Skyfire. The Tolands said "we shook your hands because we respect those titles," and wanted a rematch. "It will be an honor" said Skyfire. Then Maria tried to interview the Tolands, but they won't talk to Raw girls. Maria spotted Micki James and wanted to talk about her name change, but before the former Alexis Laree could talk about it, Ken Doane's valet Sosay walked in and started insulting Maria. Sosay said, "can't you buy anything that kind of redistributes your weight better?"  Maria was about to fight Sosay when Ken Doane barged in and ordered Sosay to leave. Doane said Maria can be happy because at least she's not as dumb as Bobby Lashley.

Brent Albright and Elijah Burke defeated Doug Basham, Mo Green, and CM Punk in a 2 vs 3 match when Burke pinned Mo Green. Basham attacked Elijah after the match. Basham is doing a gimmick best described as MNM Lite. Punk and Albright seem to be headed into a feud. There was a promo segment to lead into the match, and they broke into a fight. They came into the promo segment when Basham was already talking to Albright, and cut out before Burke's promo even started.

The Chris Cage vs Aron "The Idol" Stevens feud continued as Cage pinned Jamie Noble, who came to ringside with Stevens and Beth Phoenix and Shelly. The story here was that Noble was being paid off by Stevens, but not with money. The Idol was paying off Noble with Shelly. But in the end, Cage, hurt neck and all, prevailed against Noble in an excellent 15 minute match.

In the main event, Bobby Lashley pinned Dean "The Cooler" Visk and then had a quick brawl with OVW TV Champion Ken Doane.

The TV show ended with back and forth interviews from Jeter and Cappotelli. Excellent buildup for their battle this week at the New Davis Arena in Louisville. Information is available at www.ovwrestling.com, and also information on the new DVD's being offered by OVW so you can catch their TV shows one month at a time.

Remember, the big card takes place Wednesday October 26 with Cappotelli's first match back, challenging Jeter for the OVW Heavyweight Title, and Ken Doane defending the OVW TV Title against Bobby Lashley.
