After a postponement from the usual spring show, C2E2 came back strong this weekend. The celebrity lineup was scaled back a bit, but there was a major wrestling presence. Chicago area manager/wrestler Joey Roth joined me for several pictures.

Arn Anderson and his son Brock were a little late, but were extremely apologetic and did a fantastic job of giving everyone a special moment with them. Of course, everyone had to do the famous four finger gesture.

AEW’s Chelsea Green was one of many wrestlers at Michael Kingston’s Headlocked Comic booth. Chelsea was only there on Friday, as she had commitments on Saturday and Warrior Wrestling on Sunday. Chelsea surprised me by noticing I had changed shirts from when she saw me talking to Michael earlier.

Chicago’s very own and current AEW star CM Punk was at the Pro Wrestling Tees booth. Despite appearing at several previous C2E2 events, Punk still had a huge line. Chicago comes out strong to meet “the best in the world” and he never disappoints at these events.

AEW’s Danhausen was understandably limited due to his broken leg, but he was still in great spirits. He remembered me from the recent New York Comic Con.

I have known creator and now wrestling author Dirk Manning for many years and have met Tony Schiavone many times, but this was my first time getting them together. They collaborated on Butts in Seats: The Tony Schiavone Story, a fantastic graphic bio. Dirk also mentioned a big announcement coming Sunday, but he wouldn’t give me any more info.

Jake “The Snake” Roberts was in great spirits, regaling us with stories of working with Andre the Giant and other legends. I told him he really needs to write a book.

I talked to Michael Kingston about his Headlocked series and future projects. I remember when Michael was just starting. It’s great to see how far he has come. He is incredibly hard-working and busy, but he always has time to give me his updates. The talent he has at his booth is worthy of a convention by itself. Headlocked is always one of the busiest and most fun booths at any con.

AEW’s Ruby Soho joked about her pretty purple pen. She was pretty funny throughout the day, smiling and joking with the fans.

That’s a lot of wrestling stars to meet at one con and all were great. When you walk away completely satisfied with every encounter, the convention, the wrestlers and the specific sponsor booths did their job perfectly and deserve praise.
